I understand why Kendrick doesn't drop every year. Must be hard to carry the whole rap game on your back.

Yk cole exists right
Why can't two legends coexist tho
@@zelosspro1406 I know that very well sir. And Cole is a hell of an artist too. Kendrick is special man. Kendrick is unique and in my eyes there can never be another one
@@hansonlangi4347 they can but unfortunately not on Kendricks level. In Rap yes. Kendrick is just too unique there's something about Kendrick man.

It doesn't matter if a Kendrick song are 3 years 5 years or 10 years old you will still find another meaning if you listening to it again
@@marvelousegbo7048 honestly. I always used to listen to section 80 and going back to it now I understand more and the music changes as we change.

@darktemplarlifestyle you talking like there was no illuminati back then
The name of the title shouldve been, “Kendrick breaks down an English professor”
Kendrick makes English Professor break down
This is a 10/10 comment
He's not an English professor, he's just some white dude who wants to fork black and asian girls. 😅
You know a rapper is a genius when you need a professor to break down his lyrics
-*_#JAYLYNSHEA_* -*_#JAYLYNSHEA_* -*_#JAYLYNSHEA_*
⬆You might wanna click that shit tbh⬆
We supporting independent art this decade or hell nah 😢
@darktemplarlifestyle it's not a trend bro....Kendrick's lyrics are too poetic that need someone smart to expose the meaning behind it
They literally just did a video on cartis baby voice a few months ago...
@darktemplarlifestyle you just mad there's no teacher breaking down Eminem's shit.
@@AbsurdTurk Sorry to respond to you again, but I would say it's worth noting that:
He uses different voices for expressing different character viewpoints.
He has rapped much more profound lyrics;
The poetry doesn't have to be all complex all the time. I'm not making an excuse for crappy lyrics- I don't like YAH and LOYALTY very much- but a rapper like Kendrick using blunt language is more than likely a device for expressing emotion, as later in the song the lyrics get more "serious", I guess. I don't know.
People are still breaking down this album 3 years later. Kdot definately deserved that Pulitzer Price.
And people have the nerve to say this album wasn't classic
@@sebastiancastellon6439 pulitzer doesn't work like that. its not the grammys

Sebastian Castellon Tpab is by far the superior album over Damn
Because he’s actually talking about something meaningful.
Most fans think rhyming random stuff sounds cool but anybody can say “several door, metal floors, special dwarves, mental cores”. It takes a real musician to utilize rhymes and literary tactics to convey a significant message.
What's the meaning behind that message you just said
No one actually thinks this lmfao.

@Mr. Splashman77 look we love Cole but the difference between him and Kendrick is insane. It's not a fair comparison. Kendrick is one of a kind. Cole is such a generic rapper

I took me 3 years to realize he listed 17 ways to die at the age of 17
I didn’t even realize this.
this comment was close to making me puke Kendrick is too good for even himself atp
He loves using numbers in his bars, like obv the famous example, 23 things in his DNA, like the pairs of chromosomes in DNA
I’m today years old.
Which song?
Some of y’all don’t know Kendrick is more gangster then some of these new rappers lol he grew up in a piru hood that was at war with crips down the block

is this a copypasta or some shit?
For sure real gangsters don't scream they are gangsters
for me he's neutral...but still can relate to hood and gang life

he hasn’t dropped an album since i was a freshman and now i already know what college i’m going to next year
Last time he dropped I was in my final year of middle school, I might be a senior in high school by the time he drops... and I'll be bumpin the shit as soon as it drops

Kendrick is 100 percent generational. The product speaks for itself.
That shit hits even harder when it's broken down like this, DAMN
FEAR is one of the best HipHop song ever💯💯
😂😂😂😂
@@dakidrush1244 but it is tho
I love this song, kinda underrated
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I'm laughing at your azz
beat is really weak imo. "U" is far better in conveying "fear" than the beat on "Fear". But lyrically, it really gives us a very introspective perspective of the human condition and where we get our fear from. The fact that we get it from early childhood and are told to fear everything because of the consequences
I cried listening to fear multiple times. Man that was a piece of art

FEEL. Is so underrated. Masterpiece.
Agreed
Yes
Kendrick Lamar is a great example of what a good lyricist and technical rapper means. It's not about writing a 1000 rhymes in a row or rapping too damn fast to be understood. It's about writing ryhmes that are technically superior but still convey meaning, emotion, story and lessons. FEAR is the best song in this album in my opinion.
who else witnessed the history when you just leave the room after hearing the “Not Like Us” just to hear “meet the grahams” being played in the other room, HISTORY!
I’m really done with calling Kendrick the best rapper of all time, he really is something deeper, and more impactful, something like a poet and a teacher

This is the first time we actually needed a English Professor
Fear and untitled 5 are two songs of Kendrick’s I keep on repeat
Im glad that at least in the future literature would be Soo much fun to study.
Yeah, kids reading rap lyrics😂
I like to imagine that in the future they would look back at rap like we would look back onto classical music and poetry.
SAI KISHORE It is fun to study literature now, too. If you break the mould and decide to educate yourself. Sure AF a lot more interesting than dabbing, popping xan and listening to trap all day. Lol
In the future people won't give a shit. Just like we don't care about anything with the word classical in it. They'll be listening to some AI generated Quantum Trans-Funk or some shit.

I think it comes really down to does that teacher like or at least ok with listening to hip hop. Like a good English teacher can teach their class poetry from any genre be it rock, rap, or even country music.

Kendrick was dropping jewels on this album. He was trying to tell black people that they are the lost children of Israel. This goes over most people heads. Nas did the same thing back in 96 with It Was Written and again in 2001 with Stillmatic. I respect the hell out of Kendrick for this.

This man is the greatest writer of this generation regardless of genre‼️
6:12 he IS the best rapper in the game
Anaphoras and Alliterations are basically the throw away points in an exam when it comes to "Find a stylistic device in the text." questions. You have to be a real Shakespeare to find them.
Adopting and adapting ideas and practices from different mediums and different forms to elevate your work in your specific area. That's smart and applicable to anyone's work
Beautiful album from the genius himself. Hope he drops a project when it's ready
Fear was my favorite song off the album. It hit so close to home.

DAMN is one of the best albums ever made. In any genre. And I don't say that likely. It's a modern day masterpiece in my eyes. It will be forever on my Turntable, Phone, PC, Mac, and in my head. 10/10. Horribly overlooked.

He wrote the album, that's it. He didn't even think that he rhymed like Aristotle or someone else or that he used some poetic tools. It's more like a stream of consciousness and not something you construct using different tools
Mr4Step4 Aristotle and the rest of them philosophers were taught by Africans anyway...so it’s in K. Dots DNA.
How do you know?
Joe Joe Sounds like you are bothered by the truth....World history, ancient philosophy is Afrikan history...first civilizations come from where...(Do you know???)

DAMN was great. During my masters I had to break down a poem, album or song. I used *Miss America* from J.Cole and a few songs from K.Dot as well (mostly how the album told the downfall story when played one way, then redemption, when played the other) .
Some people have a way with words that are seemingly of divine influence.
This and Pride were my favorites on the album

Somehow I feel like he didn't get enough credit for this Album... It's not a classic or something but it sure is a great album imo
Yeah a Grammy and Pulitzer aren't enough... Unless you are sarcastic
Bruh this is a classic. As time passes you're gonna look at it and see it is a classic.
I'd say its a classic considering its awards, meaning and how great it sounds for a modern day hip hop album with the level of depth it has. We ain't getting master pieces like this that often in hip hop
i dont care for the album much but it will undeniably be viewed as a classic
@ni ck I agree! That's exactly what I was trying to say
This is actually the best song on the album lyrically. The amount of subtle meanings actually needed a professor to break it down. We should be learning about rap in english class instead of fucking Shakespeare and his pointless romanticism. Whoever sets up the curriculum should add in things that will be relevant to people in modern times.
My top 6 favourite songs in order:
1. DNA
2. FEAR
3. HUMBLE
4. DUCKWORTH
5. LOVE
6. ELEMENT
Careful there bud, a lot of English teachers realize this, and by your logic you’re saying that we should’ve all skipped that lecture on who Langston Hughes was? That little part at 2:40, it’s important to know all forms of literature, that’s pretty much the whole point of this video
I think poets were rappers before rappers. That rhyme style with cryptic messages that mean different things to different people that's what modern lyrical rappers do.
Pride is easily the best song on the album
What about feel
Lorenzo Pardo thank you lol
