- An Emerson 13 inch TV/VCR that came in that will not play. It needed the Mode Select Switch serviced and the prism cleaned as well as the infrared emitter and detectors cleaned. Thank you for watching.

Thank you for taking the time to share this video with all of us. Mine had the exact same problem, would eject the tape then immediately shut off. I followed you step by step and now it works great! Going into my daughter’s room with her collection on vhs tapes!
Just did a 9 inch funai tv/vcr combo, it was a cute little tv...was built in 1993...30 yrs old and still going.

Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. At the repair cafe, we sometimes get a VHS VCR, feeling the loader motor rotate after tape has already been loaded is a trick I did not know.
That rental play thing is just a setting that the user can change in the menu. It is under "User setup"
If my memory is right those were some the last TV/VCR combos made and I remember seeing some with manufacturer date around 2003 give or take a year.
That live home video vhs Of drop dead fred actually has a day and year code being the 316th day of 1995.

I just snagged a VT0950N model from 1991. Only 4 bucks so far the VCR wont accept a tape something is blocking it. So hard to find anything on the model i have 😢
Is this particular Funai mechanism your favorite to work on? I see it in most of your videos.
