I have had this gun for a very long time, and have used it in almost every Gould Brothers Exhibition show! I inherited my grandfatherโs Winchester 1200. Beautiful piece, itโs mint, and it will stay that way because I canโt use a pump to save my life. Ducks commit beautiful, I crack the first shot off and thatโs it. I always manage to eject the next two rounds without firing them โฆ. No clue how lol. King of the double pump!
I have had one for 10 years. Love it, just wish i got to use it more
I have been a Mossberg fan for years from the Maverick to the 590. I bought the SXP and never looked back. Now thousands of rounds. Well built, solid as a rock, more bang for the Buck in every sense. I especially love the SXP for the type of deer hunting I do. Long hikes through the most horrible terrain. Light weigh, fast to target, drilled and tapped for optics and chokes. Bravo to Winchester! Job well done! I am also a RO at my club for many years. Have seen so many turn to Winchester over the years. And all love them. Very Popular shotgun now. Ridiculous to spend more money on Mossberg who cannot even drill for chokes on so many of their guns. Mossberg is feeling the heat with their prices. They are going to have to do something to compete in the near future.
May I ask older or newer version? I've heard them newer SXP Defender versions are just the 1200/1300 just with and aluminum receiver? Just wanting to know if hewer versions are dependable?

As for reliability I've heard they can be a touch ammo finicky but that's few and far between in all my research.
I'll be picking up a SXP Trench as I prefer the wood furniture over the look of the synthetic stuff and the chrome lined chamber and barrel!
Just bought my SXP on 5/24/23 from Bass Pro for $379 in 12g, 26" barrel - 3" chamber. I bought it mainly/only for clay's. I might ( +$199 ) pick up a rifled barrel, BUT I have rifled slugs just to make BIG ole holes in paper ๐ So far so good, I like the way it feels compared to my Mossberg 835. 1st thing I did is yanked out plastic dowel, and I'll get to the range & try it out.

A review on the Benelli Montefeltro would be cool!! I own one and I personally love it, all synthetic 12 ga. version. I shoot skeet, trap, and hunt with it. I would be interested in what you think of it. There arenโt many videos on it out there.
Just picked up a used Winchester 1300 defender speed pump love it it is my new home defense shot gun and my other shot guns are now camping and truck gunss
Just bought this in 3 1/2' for back up Waterfowl Gun. Don't know if it will remain a backup. It is one of the most "shootable" pumps I've shot and owned. First 4 rounds of Skeet, shot a 98,,,,
Great video , did you find out what went wrong with your SXP ? I have one and love it. My only gripe is the heavy trigger.
Just picked one up yesterday, cannot wait to send some lead with it. The action is amazingly smooth and almost quiet. That tells me it's put together well.
I've just picked up my brand new SXP field today in 28".
Along with it, I grabbed a Nordic +5 extension tube and low friction follower.
I see on the Nordic installation guide for the tube extension it says that you need to remove the two indents on the SXP tube, how is this done? What's the best way to avoid corrosion issues later?
Also, is it possible to switch out the follower without removing those indents?
I have an 870 iv had for 20 years.
I put 100rnds through it every other weekend.
Poor girl is getting pretty loose lol.
But she is still my go to gun.
And killed another fine buck for my table!
She's been ridden hard and put away wet many times. Litterly!
On your mag extension does it have dimpled mag tube to retain spring?
Can the extension be installed without alteration to mag tube? I don't hunt so if I have a 28in barrel might as well have 28in mag tube. Put extensions on all my shotguns.

I just bought an sxp Iโm having exact same feed issues brand new gun please help me fix this issue itโs double feeding and also not ejecting the hull properly please help!!!
My buddy just got a SXP as his first shotgun and we noticed the same thing with it not ramping properly but we thought we were just not cycling the pump all the way back to eject the first shell before loading the second and the second shell would get caught just like you showed, so we thought we just needed to slow it down. I would like to see an honest review of a brand new SXP to see if you still have the same issues.
I just got a new one and have that exact same issue.
Check it for burrs. My buddy has a cheap radical shotgun that had identical issues. There was a burr on the inlet of the mag tube that caused misdeeds from ammo getting hung up on it.
Told him to file the burr off and let me know. So far so good
I had problems with the gun kicking out 3 1/2s out the bottom duck hunting. But other than that. Solid gun

Do a review of the classic 1300.
Sxp have the chrome line barrel but the over all quality is not what it was used to be when they were real Winchester from New Haven factory.
With the magazine extension tube on ur sxp did you have to remove the tabs inside the magazine tube?

Check magazine spring tension. Inside of magazine might have carbon build up.

Where can I get the mag tube
My SXP shot well for a couple of years then wouldn't extract every cartridge. Feed from the tube became dodgy and it either wouldn't feed the next shell or it would double feed. Cost of repair wasn't worth it. Long live Mossberg!!
I am between this n the ultimag i love the old winchester shot guns i like the sxp because it is the only pump that comes (cerakoted) amd with a chrome bolt barrel n chamber i can always get a cerakote done but not chrome internals

BPS all the way for me now. They seem infallible and the Miroku build quality is frankly perfection. I have older versions however; before the '21 redesign with the larger trigger guard and less fancy finishes and stock.
Can you talk a little bit about BPS? I never heard about those shotguns. Are they not built by Browning? They look pretty similar to the Winchester SXP.

@@ExpeditionaryRanger Sorry for the unspecified question, I never heard about this gun but now learned that it is pretty common in the US. They are still being produced right?
@@kpl455 As far as I know. They were 'improved' a bit in 2021 I think it was... 'improvements' were bigger trigger guard and different stock, which allegedly improve functionality, but I prefer the ones just before that. It appears they perhaps made some cost engineering decisions on fit and finish, to reduce production cost in a market where this premium pump is the same price as entry level semi's, like a SX4 from Winchester. It's still a beautifully smooth action, great fit and finish and quality materials, and you can't beat the bottom load/eject when in this brush, as the tree needles, leaves and water do not fall down into your action and trigger group. I'm interested to see what kind of round count mine will sustain, as I'm also using it for sporting clays. Zero issues to date. I have one in 20 gauge and one in 12. The 20 is the discontinued upland special model, and the 12 is a camo treated duck gun...
I want one but after using a shit ithaca 37 that was nothing but problems very skeptical of all be shotguns its alot harder to check chamber n clear a malfunction

This guy talks way to much I lose interest in the gun
Sounds like a worn out ejector or magazine throat, or both. Both parts are inexpensive to replace and not super difficult to swap out. The magazine throat can be more of a challenge but there are tutorials on CZcams explaining how to do it. It requires a vise or clamp to secure the gun and a heat gun to break the seal of the thread lock on the magazine and twisting hard to remove it. Both are very common things to wear out on the SXP.
