  • In this video you'll discover the nootropic benefits of Glutathione. Including why we use Glutathione as a nootropic, recommended dosage, side effects, clinical research, and the best type of Glutathione to buy.
    Glutathione is a tripeptide made up of cysteine, glycine, and glutamine and present in high concentrations in every cell in your body.
    As your “master” antioxidant, Glutathione plays a key role in the defense of brain cells against oxidative stress. It neutralizes free radicals, is a cofactor for several antioxidant enzymes, and helps regenerate Vitamin C and Vitamin E already in your system.
    Supplementing with glutathione as a nootropic may help reduce brain fog and poor cognition. Glutathione plays a role in preventing and treating neurodegenerative disease, including Alzheimer’s disease, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and autism.
    Neurohackers who supplement with Glutathione report increased energy levels, improved digestion, decreased inflammation, clearer thinking, improved skin tone, and stronger hair and nails.
    Recommended dosage of Glutathione is 250 - 1,000 mg per day.
    This in-depth Glutathione review covers:
    00:00 Glutathione intro
    00:26 Glutathione as a nootropic

      Trish, methyl-folate, and Vitamins B6, B12 and betaine along with cysteine, glycine and glutamine are needed to make Glutathione. Not enough of any one of these means you'll have inadequate Glutathione in your system. But you can always supplement with Reduced Glutathione as long as you also supplement methyl-folate, and Vitamins B6, B12 to maintain the transsulfuration pathway.

    What do you think about Immunocal

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  Před 2 lety +1

      Samuel, Glutathione is synthesized in cells by the consecutive reactions of the enzymes γ-Glutamyl-cysteine (γGlu-Cys) synthetase which uses glutamate and cysteine as substrates to generate γGlu-Cys.
      This dipeptide is combined with glycine to glutathione in a reaction catalyzed by Glutathione synthetase. ATP is a co-substrate for both enzymes.
      The intracellular level of Glutathione is regulated by a feedback inhibition of γGlu-Cys synthetase by the endproduct Glutathione.
      Glutathione synthesis is dependent on the availability of glutamate, cysteine, and glycine.
      So, Immunocal is just a patented from of cysteine with is part of this cycle.

    I've tried Glutathione in tablets, I honestly felt some benefits in the joints and energy, but unfortunately I noticed that it creates a certain agitation afterwards, perhaps due to the glutamate contained? As an antioxidant however at least for me alpha lipoic acid is the best.

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  Před 2 lety +3

      Eric, Glutathione exists in cells in 2 states: reduced Glutathione (GSH) and oxidized Glutathione (GSSG). Oxidized glutathione is 2 glutathione molecules bound together.
      The ratio of GSH to GSSG determines cell redox status. Healthy cells at rest have a GSH/GSSG ratio >100 while the ratio drops to 1 to 10 in cells exposed to oxidative stress.
      It could be that when you use Glutathione you upset this ratio.

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  Před 11 měsíci

      Simon, great question. Some say testing for Glutathione can be helpful. But you'll only be measuring how much is in your blood. Not how much Glutathione is within cells, Esp. in the brain.
      The reference range is 176-323 ug/mL. So I suppose if you are on the lower end of that bell curve or even under it, it would be some indication you better start supplementing.

    • @SimonHealthAction
      @SimonHealthAction Před 11 měsíci

      @@NootropicsExpert Given how much I like to track progress I need to probe more on this. lol. What is the relationship between Gluthathione in the cells/tissue v. Gluathione in the blood? Take serum magnesium for example. Widely understood to be a waste of time testing it. Only about 1% of magnesium is in the blood so a normal or high serum magnesium doesn't tell you much of anything. In fact you could still be deficient. But, serum magnesium might be relevant is it is out of range on the low side. My understanding is that magnesium deficiency occurs first in the cells/tissue and only as a last hurrah does it become defiicient in blood. Meaning someone with low serum magnesium is really, really, really deficient. Does Glutathione work the same way? Would it deplete FIRST in the cells/tissue and last in the blood? If so, let's flip the question around. Suppose Glutathiaone in the blood was 1,000 ug/mL. So what? Is that any kind of a problem? If so, how and why is it a problem? To ask still further, what if it's no problem at all and in fact allows one to adopt a "more probable than not" perspective suggesting that cells/tissue are doing just fine. I can't find any information anywhere that discusses this topic. If you know or can find out, please do!

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Simon, I will keep this in mind. But also keep in mind that I'm not a neuroscientists and need to figure this stuff out like everyone else. I've just been doing it for a long time which likely counts for something.
      Magnesium is 4th most abundant mineral in your body. And a cofactor in more than 600 enzymatic reactions in your body and brain. So kinda' important and many are deficient in this mineral.
      Glutathione on the other hand is a tripeptide made up of cysteine, glycine, and glutamine and naturally formed in your body. You don't need to get Glutathione from food like you do magnesium.

      @NootropicsExpert  Před 2 lety +3

      Steven, it is not as simple as you are making it sound. Even with L-Tryptophan, serotonin, and melatonin.
      For Glutathione, please scroll back up to the video and listen to this section again "How does Glutathione work in the Brain?". That is just one example of how astrocytes in your brain prefers the precursors over Glutathione to make Glutathione in certain regions of your brain.
      Think of it this way ... if our creator wanted our bodies to work with just Glutathione he would not have created cysteine or glutamate or the enzyme γ-Glutamyl-cysteine (γGlu-Cys) synthetase. He/She would just have created Glutathione.

      Humans cannot produce Vitamin C in the body which is why we need to get it from food or a supplement. Or we'll get scurvy and die. But when our system uses a Vitamin C molecule it is excreted in urine. OR it can get reused if it is regenerated by Glutathione.

    I have recently read medical reports that people with Bowel Cancer express higher counts of Glutathione which correlates with poorer outcomes, cancer cell migration and metastasis. I have just started taking small doses 15ml x 3 per day as a suggested cancer remedy, should I stop or continue with this strategy. In addition I am taking 30 -40 apricot kernels per day,MSN and Vit C.

      I suggest you do a search of my website (nootropicsexpert.com/) for the keywords "tumor" and "cancer" and you'll find some other options to try as well.

I do know that Cancer feeds on Glucose/Sugar and is stimulated by Glutamine and possibly other amino acids. In addition to the kernels I have now taken up Wormwood and Clove oil and shall be incorporating Quercetin as suggested in the book "Outside the box cancer therapies" I may have to go down the road of Chemo and surgery but I am reluctant due to the nasty side effects of chemo and the debilitating recovery period of both.

    What would be the reason that a person with asthma should not take glutathione? Also, some are saying that liposomal can bring toxic levels of glutathione to the brain; do you agree with that?

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  Před 2 lety +1

      Dianna, because supplemental Glutathione can upset the Glutathione redox equilibrium. It is partially explained in this clinical study abstract. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21281701/
      In 'normal' healthy people Glutathione is beneficial and required for a healthy brain. It works in concert with NAC. But not if you are dealing with asthma.

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  Před 2 lety +1

      Glutathione is synthesized in cells by the consecutive reactions of the enzymes γ-Glutamyl-cysteine (γGlu-Cys) synthetase which uses glutamate and cysteine as substrates to generate γGlu-Cys.
Not Vitamin D3.
