While that would be funny. I think he knows, and is well versed in managing risk. That's why he can handle not selling so many boxes at a time. If he doesn't have the capital at hand at that moment, he is pretty sure he can get it by the time the credit card bills come due. Likely due to some of his prior investments.
This way he can hold onto the boxes for x amount of time as... an investment. Eventually they will go back up it's just a matter of time.
Even if the floor fell out of mtg and all boxes went to near $0. I am fairly sure he would still be rich. Less rich, but still rich nonetheless. Why? Diversification. A lot of mtg stores starting out are over extended, putting all on black so to speak. That business model works so long as everything keeps going up and up and the market remains bullish. Any evening out, or downturn and they are caught with their pants down.

Another common "Timmy" complaint is with prize support at events. People seem to think Gaming Stores can just hand out booster boxes when people are paying $5 to enter a tournament with 7 entrants.

Just FYI, I work in the credit card industry and you shouldn't max out your credit limit and pay it off several times a month unless you have a well established relationship with that bank. Do that on a new account and you will trip all sorts of fraud flags, leading to major headaches all around. There are people who max out new cards, pay them off using fraudulent bank information, and try to repeat the process several times before the payments start being reversed. Credit card companies can lose thousands from this scam, so they can and will shut your card down if they suspect you of it.

Tinfoil hat theory: Was it the introduction of high capital, poorly received masters sets that caused the smaller stores to close when they lost money, which was a higher amount than usual because products historically had been doing so well and they put more money than they normally would have into the high risk products? And then once the timmy stores got stamped out, only the big guys are left at the end and they make capital back anyway because they held/were able to hold onto some and are now on the back end of the appreciation of growth as the bad masters sets gain back value for speculative reasons.
Economic survival of the fittest confirmed? Just another example anyway. Lesson - almost never make higher risk investments and just go with the flow no matter what comes out good or bad? Also, have capital.

I’m paying 210 for my modern horizons at my local comic store, but I get the buy a box and they treat me well because they know I will buy my typical two boxes and they always hold them for me and I try to support them, now the rest of my boxes will be purchased online

I hope a lot of you guys who are investing in tons of the newer sealed boxes realize that the old boxes only went up because only a FEW people were holding them...the supply is low. Everyone is holding the newer boxes, and when they go to sell them in 10-20 years, the supply is going to be SO much greater. Not saying you wont make money. I just hope investors realize that fact.

Buying 2000 boxes at 160 a box is 340,000... then sell ALL of those boxes at 200 a box gets you 400,000... that is 60,000 profit, which is A LOT of money but what a lot of people dont realize is how much work it is to distribute that many boxes and separate orders out to all of the people and the upkeep cost it takes to keep you and your business going, so yes a profit is made there, but I dont think people realize the final ACTUAL amount made after it is all said and done with costs
According to my Discover card, my credit rating bounces around from 790 and 806, but my credit limit is no where near 40,000 lol.
Hey Rudy. I've wanted to be a box patron for a bit now but live in Canada, and therefore can't be shipped to (womp womp). Is there a possibility of becoming a patron, and coming to pick up my boxes every couple of months thereby avoiding the WotC policy of shipping?

15 hour day is easy man... 16 is like a normal work day in film school... or that is what I was tricked into thinking. I loaded Panavision camera mags for 40 hours one day, some mom owned Chevy's in Texas and fed us every 6 hours, so it was chill. I'm on Medicaid now... lol. NYU Film is a weird time, send your son there dude, pretty sure everyone I went to school with had father's like you, to an extent.
