Doing battery trays and both rear corners on my 67 bus. I know the pain of popping spot welds all too well. That is a great trick of sardine-canning the tin back with pliers to break them loose. Glad I found the channel!
I see you own a vacuum. They are wonderful. Dont be afraid to use it. They will actually pick up almost every one of the little bits of the vehicle on the floor. The regular use of it will keep the area you are rolling around in clear of the tiny bits that get ground into your clothing, shoes, and hide. Another advantage I've found is taking the time at the end of every day to force yourself to put everything away, then clean up.
Crazy thing is I usually clean up after every video. This bus is so rusty usually when I start doing anything to it the floor always ends up like that.
No doubt......I'm from the rustbelt and feel your pain......remember you only have 2 eyes.....i know its a little late but a larger pair of channel locks used backwards will tear up spot welds easier and if you have a good pull while whacking it will help the stubborn ones break.
@Jeffrey Hansen yeah I'm always on the lookout for more tools. Sad thing is I've spent just as much money on tools as I have replacement parts for both vehicles. Just starting out is rough! And even tho it's after the fact I always appreciate the advice. I've still got the 75 westfalia that I'm sure I'll be doing some of these same repairs on.
Hello brother. I subscribed to this channel. This one is a 71 just like mine. And I am going to stay connected to all the progress. Awesome…. I am happy I found some restoring a 71 like mine. I have lots of metal work and chassis to do in mine but have not yet started. I have just been trying to get the engine together first and perhaps brake work at the same time I work the chassis. I have to assess my cargo floor under the laminate floor so determine if I have to cut like you or just treat them.
Right on!! Hopefully what I'm doing will help. I've searched quite a bit and some repairs I just can't find on CZcams so hopefully when I do them it will help anyone out in the future trying to do the same repair.
I'm not quite sure. The bus project has been put on hold until I finish the bug and it is currently full of parts and being used as storage. If I can get in there I'll get a measurement with my caliper and let you know.

Good luck on the 67! I'm sure I'll be doing that in the near future too
new metal floors is the best way forward :)

how much would you want for two sections of 7 inch by 7 inch floor? I have a 71 Westy tin top.
What areas do you need? I've got all the stuff I cut out that I was going to toss.
@@VWBrennidon just need some corrugated sections to patch holes.
You are welcome to any of it. You pay the shipping and it's yours I was just going to toss it so if someone can use it that's even better
