Bates Old River (Dead River)

This launch is right off the 601 bridge (South Carolina). The Congaree feeds this waterway. It's a very long drive on a sand road down to the water. The road is not in great shape and I imagine it's worse after the rain.

I use to fish the Dead River in the early 70's. Brings back some good memories.

Good vodeo, highway 20 is called the alligator line you can expect to see an alligator at any time when on the water below 20.

It is a little sketchy there when you're alone. I did fine but it is pretty remote.

Hey Cindy! Yes. New job but it's getting cooler now so boat time for me. This is a good spot for fishing for sure. Taking Nancy when she comes down in a couple of weeks. So glad you like Packs Landing. Cool place for sure.

Is the access to Bates old rive public access?

Yes. That road is low so as long as it's not flooded down there you should have no issues.
