Hidden Use for Nere’s Blooming Drow Head
First up is a hidden use for Nere’s Blooming Drow Head. Thought that Nere’s Blooming Drow Head was useless? It’s actually meant to be used as a Key! This head comes from completing the quest chain for Spaw in the Myconid Colony. First you need to defeat the Duergar at the beach, then sail across the ebon lake to the grymforge and slay nere and bring his head to Spaw. Once you do, he will celebrate, and the head will be placed down, turning into a Blooming Drow Head. This item is orange rarity, meaning it’s a story item, but its purpose from here isn’t immediately evident. However, it can be used as a key to unlock a secret room! In act 2, within Balthazar’s room, there is a bookshelf that can be interacted with in order to reveal an Ancient Altar. This altar can have an item inserted into it - and when Nere’s Blooming Drow Head is placed into it, the bookshelf opens, revealing a secret room. Inside this room there is a ritual circle that Gale can use to create a Shadow Lantern, or gain Mystra’s blessing. And although you can insert a heart from one of the corpses on the ground into the Ancient Altar and that will work just as well, it’s interesting that the Ancient Altar also accepts Nere’s head as well.
Steal without Stealing
Next up is how to Steal, without actually stealing. If you pick up an item that isn’t yours, you’re immediately entered into dialogue if you were seen. You’ll have to either return the item, bribe, or otherwise deal with friction to get the item. However, if you instead open a container that isn’t highlighted in red, and then just drag the item you want to steal into it, you’ll just lose attitude and the occasional angry dialogue, but no checks required. Then you can just click take all to steal everything and nobody will bat an eye. A powerful use case for this is using this to steal the Moonlantern from Karniss the Drider at the start of act 2 if you don’t want to fight the convoy. Cast Command Drop, then drag it into a container, wait a moment, and click take all for your easily earned new loot.
Hidden Use for Gale’s Hand
Next up is a hidden use for Gale’s Hand. In a Dark Urge playthrough, when encountering Gale for the first time, there is an option to fantasize about chopping off Gale’s Hand which is wiggling through an ancient sigil circle. If you choose this dialogue option, you’ll actually chop off Gale’s hand, and get it as an item. And while you lose Gale as a companion, you can actually use Gale’s hand in the future at the Murder Tribunal in Act 3. It’s a very rare interaction because as a Dark Urge, you don’t need to go to impress the Murder Tribunal, but if you do, Gale’s spirit will be summoned and you can describe how you killed him to the Murder Tribunal
Secret New Campsite
Next up is a secret campsite in Act 3. This campsite is no ordinary camp - it’s actually normal lodging! Equipped with beds, tables, and even a dumbwaiter that provides you camp supplies so you’ll never run out. It’s also much more compact than camping at the docks which is where you’d otherwise be when camping in the lower city, meaning you can find your characters and other important things faster and easier. You even get a different soundtrack, which is a nice change of pace. To unlock this hidden camp, all you need to do is head to the elfsong tavern and talk to Alan at the bar. Due to all the murders happening there’s a lot of free rooms, and for the low price of 200 gold, you can have the entire floor. Not a bad deal at all.

I didn't think the hotel room was a secret. I got it for free
had the same problem. for the podest to be accesable you have to trigger the books once. you have to interact with the (i believe) second from above of the right bookcase.
The more interesting thing being the lyrics of the song sung by the Ghost Elf of the Elfsong in question (of which there is a book in the room too), which are pretty much the whole plot of BG3

If you skip the Farslayer of Bhaal, Strangler Luke won't spawn in that encounter, and you won't be able to loot the Bonespike Gloves off of him.
These gloves make the wearer's attacks ignore Resistance to Slashing, Piercing, and Bludgeoning damage, which is great vs. the Steel Watch.
you can just go in with greater invis + pass without trace and kill him and get the gloves, and still have enough time to get to that waypoint.
Yeah, the enemies in that trial only start combat when you walk by them. I normally just try to fly or teleport off rip and most cases, I end up not aggroing them
the cons outweigh the pros for using mage hand in combat, too many ways to lose the weapon
Drop water flasks+be storm/ice sorcerer+throw water with mage hand=profit

Any organ can open the secret room.. Even Gales hand if you cut it off as Dark urge.
For the faith leap trial, just fly to the end. Its not a big deal.

For me it worked to just click the end with one character. The game will pathfind to the end. Not sure if this has been changed.

I tried doing that with jumping, but jumping from the last platform onto the goalpost instantly killed my character
I just ungrouped one character, moved all the others back with one darkvison person looking forward, and followed the map.
I like how they updated the model of Nere’s mushroom head. Such a random update decision.

You can find hearts all over Bathazars room. You place a heart into the alter (after interacting with a book) and the door opens. Nere's Head isnt required for this at all but kinda cool it works.
The soundtrack in the tavern i different, because it is haunted. - the singing is the reason why it is called "Elfsong."
I used the heart to open this hidden room. There are two i think in Balthazar's room

There’s also a rogue-specific option that claims that you’re from the Guild and should get the Nine-Fingers discount lol. Funny how there’s so many ways to do one thing.

The interaction on the leap of faith puzzle is intentional. You make it there safely because you put your trust in in Shar.
It’s like they named it «leap of faith» for a reason
If you fail the lance board and go invisible, you can bypass all the puzzles. Just run pass the shadow ghosts, and Ansur's door will be open 😂
Finding secrets in act 3 is really difficult. It’s hard to tell if it’s a puzzle to be solved or broken mechanics from cut content.
You also get access to balthazars room by using a heart. They are in balthasars room
You can also just put a heart on the alter and there are at least two hearts in Balthazar room so no need for nere's mushroom head
Great tips! Here's one from me: If you still want to fight the Bhaal trial, cast invisibility on your Monk have them climb up behind the guy who can TPK your group. Then have the rest of the group iniitiate the trial. Once the guy enters combat he's fair game (can't hit him before). Have your Monk punch him once or twice and then pick him up and throw him to the ground three stories below. Trial over! Experience gained!

Great video! Note that Hot Fix 23 that dropped today states that they fixed the container glitches. It remains to be seen if the Steal without Stealing tip you mentioned was one of them.
The rotating floor puzzle thing, I accidentally discovered the button that bypasses the puzzle when I accidentally found my way into the place (I can't recall exactly how, but I kinda went thru a "back way" and got there and was like, WTF?) Anyway, I didn't even realize that the floor puzzle was a "thing" until much later when I saw a video (kinda like this one) that was about solving different puzzles and quests and it included the floor puzzle. I went back to that area, and saw the puzzle on the floor, and was surprised that I completely by accident avoided it.
i don't know if everyone knows this but if you have a character capable of flight in the leap of faith trail you can fly between the platforms then activate the trail then collect the orb

The faith leap trial has the map on the floor in the beginning of the trial. I just take a pic and go
for the Bhaal temple enterance i found out you can just target the space where the guy who casts power word kill is normaly while invisible, and you can actually hit him and start the fight without his summons and without him using power word kill.
For the power word trial, I just flew behind where the guy spawns, unload a ton of magic missiles into his backside (no innuendo implied) to get rid of his unstoppable buff, and then wasted him some some heavy blows.
You can get the lodging at the elfsong tavern for free if you're a bard, I think you promise to give them some publicity or something and he waives the fee. 'fill yer boots mate' :)
I usually also send gale to the end of leap of faith before doing the blood sacrifice. The sacrifice somehow makes the path less visible.
Another easy way to complete the faith leap trial on controller is to press the left stick down to enter into a "cursor mode" where you can select where you want your character to go. It leaves a white line that shows you where the character will walk getting to the point you're hovering over. The solid ground changes the white line ever so faintly when it goes from chasm to solid ground.
For the Balthazar Altar, most organs / body parts work.
Every time I play a game I never change what I do
for the chess puzzle i solved it by having my barbarian pick up the piece and throw it down a pit
I'm sure others have already said it, but the altar in Balthazar's room can just be done with one of the hearts you can find in that room. That's definitely not where you're meant to use the drow head.

On the Bhaal trial PWK section, I just sent a myrmadon ahead of me and killed the first little group and just barely didn't have enough time to reach the cultists who casts pwk, warped there but didn't kill him. He only killed the myrmadon though and my ungrouped party being left just behind the barrier was able to clean up at their leisure. It'd probably work to just send a mage hand in and let it get PWK'd

I just let Gale tell me the answer and the board lights up according to what he said.
It kinda gets hinted about Gale being chess smart in act 2, when you are in the Inn, you can talk to Mol and Raphael who are playing chess, before the big Inn fight.
If you have Gale, he'll recommend what pieces Mol should move, and you can tell her that and she wins the game against Raphael. Just a interaction though, no reward as I know of.
If you are still getting problems with the Leap Of Faith and are cautious, then put into O mode (or whatever top down is on console), scroll in a bit, and there is a TINY WHITE DOT in the centre of ALL squares, just walk across one square at a time.
Or throw water/ash ahead of you and you will see the path as it has water/ash on it
For the Shar trials: just get one orb for the elevator, and then use knock at the door to she Shadowfell. You literally don't need the other orbs
You can silence the dude for the bhaal trial and then it just becomes a normal fight to kill him. Everyone else disappears afterwards iirc

my Tav looks exactly like yours (but my Tav hair is black+ dark blue) and Sebastian in Cazador palace looks like a twins to my Tav too 🤣
I thought the lightning on the lanceboard puzzle was the intended way lol. I tried moving pieces but all the possible moves just get reset...unless I missed something
You missed something. I moved the pieces on my Tactician run and got it in 2 moves.
It's annoying because I'm decent at chess and there were multiple ways I could put him in checkmate in 2 moves and the board kept denying me until I did it the 1 way it wanted me to
There's like two chess-specific ways to actually solve it, but yeah, they explicitly say "destroy the king", and don't make it fully immune like they did for the judge.
It's absolutely an intended method
After 1000+ hours in BG3 there aren't many insane secrets left for me 😊

Says very difficult bhaal trial and I ambushed the archers on the mountain and threw them off with thunder wave and then used dimension door to get my Jaihera Owl Bear to completely dominate it by knocking him prone and doing huge damage 😂

For the Altar... you don't need the head of Nere.. you can literally loot a heart from one of the corpse in front of the door (shelves) and just use that and the door will open. He does mention it after he's done with it but Nere's head does legit have no use 😂

Niers head works, because in the coding of the game a lot of the body parts are defined as the same thing, his has the same labeling as a heart....so it just kinda works because code

The Bomb Stack thing didn’t work for me when I tried to throw five Smokepowder Bombs at Yurgir in Shar’s Gauntlet.
Do you set them down then throw them, like in a stack?
Or do I *physically* have to stack them?
I think you can also put them in a backpack and throw it at an enemy. I doubt they will explode twice but its a way to throw multiple bombs in one turn.

I wasn’t sure if you physically had to put one on top of another like a Jenga tower, or if just dropping the whole like… “Smokepowder (6)” and throwing that would be how it works.

I’m pretty sure there’s a current issue with the elfsong Tavern camp….. your travelers chest is gone and others on Reddit have said the same thing it’ll show up if you go to any other camp but if you’re there there is no travelers chess so you can’t access any of your stuff
I'm like 90% sure it's in the back corner by withers. At least it was on my origin shadowheart playthrough I just finished up.
@@ni9htwin9250 yeah, I know where that chest is but it’s empty for me and it doesn’t say travelers chest I have run around that place so many times unless there’s like another room that I’m not aware of I cannot find it I’ve been having to go back to Rivington just to get stuff out of my box.

You can throw random trash in front of you in faith leap trial, like cups and plates, to know where is safe to land
if you skip the bhaal trial, you will miss out/lose one very rare item

I wish the items that could be used for questing or unlocking things had some sort of identifier..... but it seems like thats about every item. So ill just continue to hoarde everything

@@barbaros99 No, it's specific to the fight with Gortash. It's probably silly of me to avoid elaborating for spoilers on a video like this, but if you want more details, I'd look up the Fancy Footwork achievement. I think it might be one of the hidden achievements, but I'm not sure.

Whenever I play Durge Sarevok just skips the first stage.
How is the tavern room a hidden or secret camp.... you're supposed to talk to Alan at some point in Act 3 and asking about a room is one of the options... you're led straight to it.
What do you mean you're supposed to talk to him? I've finished the game multiple times without ever talking to him and never knew about the tavern room until recently
@@savslush It's not a quest or anything but one of the journal entries suggests talking him to find someone you're looking for... can't recall which. And he's a trader so can buy equipment you're trying to turn into gold.
But almost none of these should be described as "Jaw Dropping".... interesting maybe but they're mostly alternate ways to do stuff that mostly can be done in other ways.
@@DngnRdrnever spoke to him nor have I ever gotten a quest for him. I've had like 6 runs now and I never seen a quest related to him.
@@ratinmeatmeatinrat You can meet Devella in the upper floor while she's investigating the crime scene, so talking to that innkeep makes sense. It's not exactly hidden, it's one of the options you immediately get when talking to him.
how are you only fighting 1 opponent for the "self same" trial instead of 4? and wouldn't you want 4 anyway for the exp?

Not sure but alternatively you can just stuff bombs into a bag in your inventory and then throw that bag. The contents will spill out a bit upon landing so it's not very precise but it worked for me yesterday.
Or just use the heart found in the room.

Lightning on the king didn't work for me.
You have to make sure you deal enough damage. If you deal 24 (doubled to 48) you lose.

If you're quick enough you can just fire multiple lightning arrows. It took me three arrows as I had no lightning spells and it was barely fast enough before the king reset its health.
Soft step trial: I just flew through the whole thing with gaseous form, even passed the gate that way. Shadows ignored me too.
Faith leap trial: just fly?

I hate how most of these are -console- PC only and/or unintentional glitches that may be patched later.

There is nothing in the game that you can only do on consoles, I don't know what makes you think that. And all the tricks except for the Shar trials and maybe Gortash are intended alternative solutions.

I'll never understand why some gamers try to not play the game lol.
The way I understand it, playing to skip all playable content usually happens once the player has already played through said content (often multiple times). Trying to find optimized speedruns is a challenge unto itself, and brings in a new way to play once they've already cleared the "hardest difficulty" normally.
@@ekong1729 Allow me to give you a concrete example. The highest difficulty increases prices, but there were exploits to steal items from vendors and sell them back to print money. In essence, loads of gamers were "Playing Tactician" and basically cheating when they could have simply turned the difficulty setting down and played normally. Playing on a hard difficulty only to use cheats doesn't make rational sense.
"Because speedrunners" is a lousy rationale. Speedrunners make up such a negligible fraction of the population. And doing anything because you saw an "influencer" doing something is weak tea.
@@jonrussell739 I agree with this. Honor mode solo runs - while exploiting every trick in the book does not count imo. I have never tried solo honor mode "cheating" wherever possible... but I imagine Honor Mode without cheating or exploiting, with a full party is much more difficult.
After X playthroughs some people don't want to deal with specific annoying parts because they play it for different reasons. And Shar's gauntlet being annoying is not exactly an unpopular opinion.
Let people enjoy themselves, who cares.
@@SaHaRaSquad If you turn the difficulty down, the gauntlet has the same "meaning". You can complete the gauntlet in under 10 minutes with difficulty down. Two of the trials are trivialized with misty step or anything like it.
To skip straight to the boss fight does not make sense narratively. There is no "build up."

yup its hidden because you have to go out of your way to talk to someone for the room and its not presented to you in a way that is obvious. So yes it is by definition a hidden interaction..so quick to say something that you forgot to think
It's not really the main one if you have to go out of your way to talk to a random guy when every other person is named in this city and there's 0 incentive. I for one forgot to talk to the bartender and I'm still just sleeping on the tables in the docks, even though the only things left in act 3 are the bhaal place, iron throne and gortash fight. Like, my mind was set on the cook who I had to warn, the investigator, alfira and the basement.
It’s more hidden than the basic act 3 camp, but most players I would say get that interaction on the first playthrough, it’s still hidden but it’s not very hard to find, if that makes sense
