Owning a Lamborghini Diablo for Five Years! The Good, the Bad, and the Awesome

- I bought a Lamborghini Diablo Alpine Edition in May of 2014. It arrived in my neighborhood on Fathers Day in 2014 from Seattle. The first time I saw the car in person was when it arrived. I bought it from videos and pictures as well as the stellar reputation of Cats Exotics. I also had never driven a Diablo or even ridden in one before I drove mine for the first time after buying it.
Owning a Lamborghini has been a dream of mine since I was a kid and I honestly never thought I would be able to afford one when I was just starting out as a young adult. However, real estate has been very good to me and I have been very fortunate over the years.

The car has had some problems like the front shocks going out and the starter getting fried, but it has still been a great car. It is great for networking, for marketing, and it has doubled in value since I have owned it.

I love your attitude about driving it, especially when the value has skyrocketed. I have been in love with the Lamborghini brand since I was 5 years old and just bought a low mileage Gallardo that I damn near daily drive... I look for excuses to get in it just to run a simple errand. It's definitely not a Diablo but I love it, a dream come true for certain.

Hi Mark, I really enjoyed your video. You won't believe this, but this is the only video I've found where a Diablo owner shares their experience. There are plenty of reviews etc. I wish you all the best and hope you keep the car so you can hand it down to your children. I now own a 2003 manual Murcielago (which has the same dreaded lift system as the Diablo!) and a 2013 Aventador. I used to own a 1998 Esprit GT3 so I am a massive fan of the Esprit. One of my closest friends has a 1998 V8 Esprit and a 2003 Murcielago and I think your choice in cars is so cool. The late 90s to early 2000's was such a great time for supercars. Ok. Beautiful! Still to this day, the Diablo is still my all-time favorite exotic. I've always wanted a 1999 - 2000 SV or GT, but unfortunately, I don't fit inside of them very well. I'm 6'5" weigh 280 lbs and wear a size 16 shoe.
Fyi... the redesigned dash made it's debut in 1999 along with the fixed headlights. I love pop-up headlights, but I prefer the fixed ones on the Diablo. You should really consider getting the front bumper repainted and then have it clear wrapped to protect the finish from stone chips. Again, beautiful Diablo!

IF you can find one the car that you will fit in is a Saleen S7. Sized specifically for NBA basketball pros Steve Saleen designed it.

Cute Kids and cars, who knew. I drove a 38 foot school bus and it only had half the engine that car has. I love going to car shows, but not seen one of those yet, but the ones I do go to are only local. Enjoy it as long as you can, but with three kids now, What is the family car you are driving? I had a Ford E-150 with the extra long body, not for extra seating but for packing up and going on trips, camping and fun out visiting family. I loved that van, my husband got it for me as a Birthday Gift. It was super versatile for more than all our needs. So have fun Mark.

Hi you can wrap your front bumper and bonnet with VPS film ''no chips anymore''
The very early models had a really high dash cluster, before your change they did lower it a bit. With the hight adjustment, you need to lower it once it’s been used, they leak because of the stress on them.
I'm 100% certain Paint Protection Film was a thing in 2019, I can't believe it wasn't on this car. Spend the money have it placed on the front bumper and air vents. It's worth it.
I hope you still own your Lamborghini! I own a couple, and I love my Lamborghinis. I have a 91, 99 VT Roadster Momo edition, and a LM002, and just bought a Urus, because of the Western New York Weather.

This dont compare to a Lamborghini; or any of the other cars you have,, but I had a 92' Nissan Stanza (sports model) 21 valves n she wud fly. I put new tires on her n took her down the interstate n opened her up. Gauge went to 120 mph n it was buried past that. Sooooo smooth! I had to sell her n get up off the ground after spinal fusion. Still miss that car but luv my 95' Ford Explorer XLT too!

LOL!!! When you mentioned the “horsepower”... my first “sports car” my father told me it was toooo much horsepower for me! He jumped in the car and floored it and took off with it! He came back grinning from ear to ear!

I did cry once when I traded in a sporty car for an SUV...I needed the 4-wheel drive for working nights and driving country roads ( before snow plows were out! )

Love the fact that you really told the story lots of great info especially cost of ownership which many people dont realize when buying an an older lambo. Also, your off the cuff format
no music etc is much appreciated. I had an old F308 which had tripled in value sure wish I kept it! Glad to see u say your going to keep her long term although you could move up to an used Aventador with the mula u can make on your beast. @@investfourmore Ever had the cops pull you over for something trivial so they can have a look at the car? For the black plastic, I've had good luck with 303 aerospace protectant. It darkens it and protects it from UV light.

rims are great. They are either sportlines or kenisis .. Mine are kenisis. They might have put them on because of the special edition but otherwise they dont come stock. I like those rims. We are in the generation of "black out all" .. so the chrome and style looks nice.
They came on the Alpine edition stock
30:18 *Rear Grill* looks to me as if it is dehydrated. Try some Transmission oil on it to see how it reacts.
If it works, then you should do the whole procedure to dehydrate the whole piece which includes a heat gun, spirit water (or however you guys call it), transmission oil and/or some fancier petroleum based hydrate.
Check CZcams there are many videos teaching you the procedure.

You must have got a great deal on this car at the time you purchased it, these are going up in value so if anything you get to enjoy your dream car without worrying about depreciation.

If it makes you feel better the headlights on my murcielago retail for $6000 ea and used for $2-3k. Nissan/diablo headlights = couple hundred

If I had my choice of Lamborghini's to own, it would be the Diablo. The Countach has too many blind spots and the windows down roll all the way down. I love the Countach design by it is unpractical in today world.
