Yes, it’s normal to turn your back when the whistle is blown and a foul is called. In sports, you typically don’t expect physical retaliation when plays are called dead. In ANY sport.
Hitting a player after the whistle is blown is always dirty universally in ALL sports. Shit isn’t cool to hit someone unexpectedly when a play is called dead. Ref blowing a whistle literally signals to all players that the game isn’t being played anymore. You can expect hard contact during gameplay, but outside of gameplay you shouldn’t expect being hit when you aren’t looking.
