Yes please 🙏
I have been trying to find one forever. Glad I got to this channel. 95 Accord Wagon here and looking to get 500,000 miles outta it.
Here’s a shortlist of his recommended intervals. His advice is spot on/golden. Please watch the entire video to get the most out of it. I just wanted to do this write-up so everyone could listen carefully to him without having to pause and write/type. Correct me please, if needed. 😀
“m” means months.
“y” means years.
“q” means every.
“mi” means miles.
AT = Automatic Transmission.
Fluid = Drain & Fill.
Most intervals in a "time/miles" format - in that case, it's whichever comes first.
Wipers
Honda Inserts w/ OEM Blades - q12m/q12,000mi (whichever first).
Filters
Cabin & Engine Air - q12m/q12,000-15,000 mi (q10k if in dusty area).
Tires
Rotation - Every other oil change.
Inflation - Every oil change/tire rotation.
After any of these tire services - reset/recalibrate TPMS system.
Oil Changes
Oil Changes - q3k mi (aggressive drivers), q3.5k mi (gentler drivers), at least q5k mi.
Transmission
Fluid - q15k mi (6AT), q15-30k mi (modded cars), q30k mi (10AT/9AT/CVT).
Rear Differential
Fluid - 1st one - 7.5k, then q30k.
Front Differential
Fluid - q30-45k mi, at least q60k.
Coolant
Fluid - q3-5y/q45-60k mi.
Brakes
Fluid - 2 y/q30k mi (stock cars).
Spark Plugs
Plugs - q90-100k mi (stock cars).
Belts
Drive Belt - 5 y/q75-90k mi.
Timing Belt - 7 y/q90-100k.
V6
Oil Pump Reseal. Refer to vid for more.
PCV
PCV Valve - q30-60k mi.
Golden stuff here 🫡👏

I do all of that great video, I have a 2007 Pilot with 230,000 miles on it and performed all the maintenance myself. Love the J35 engine. I do timing belt every 8 years or 100,000 miles, along with spark plugs and serpentine belt.

Hey, we would love a video talking about secondary maintenance like Maybe sunroof care, or door hinges, or greasing certain parts for longevity. Just maintenance that helps the car look clean and newer for longer. Thank YOU !!
That’s a great idea.

Thank you so much for sharing. Just got the transmission serviced on my 21 - 9 speed. Purchased it used with 45k, and the carfax and carefax did show it’s been done yet. So plan on keeping for a least 10 years so I needed to do it for piece of mind. Cheers brother -from SATX

Great video. Do one on VCM issues….would love to hear your take on VCM Tuners and Muzzlers. Although most people with those are taking pretty good care of their vehicles so perhaps you don’t see them that often. Or maybe they take it off before bringing it to the dealer….
I’ll get a video together
I own a 05 Pontiac GP since 07' and I been looking to get a honda or an acura premium for a few years now. You gave a lot a great info in this video alone 👍🏾. Im definitely going to follow but i want to wait until the market for vehicles gets a bit better

If you can afford a MDX go for it! You also cant go wrong with an accord or a Crv.

: Do regular inspections of the power steering pump and its plastic suction hose fitting. This can have very minor leaks that go unnoticed. My 2005 TL had a very minor drip from aging suction hose that went down right behind the timing belt cover. Could even see it from the top end. Once I figured it out, I had to take the crank pulley and timing covers off to clean it out. Had to clean the crank sensor as well. cause it easily gets past the timing cover rubber seals. Replacing the suction hose fixed the problem. Also the pumps tend to leak at some point and a quick replacement of all the o-rings on the body and hose fittings is less than $10 & easy (shaft seal leak is more difficult). Only use Honda/Acura Genuine steering fluid. Even the expensive Autozone version can cause new/worse leaks.
Also for the love of God people replace your brake fluid regularly. Owners manuals say every 2 years regardless of mileage. If you live in the desert you can go longer, but why risk it. Clean Dry brake fluid makes for happy brake system.
Good advise for an older car 👍🏻
Great video
Thank you
Hi, love all the videos and great info that you share with us. What interval do you recommend for the '13 Civics with the 5spd AT? Thank you!
Thank you I appreciate that. Every 30k suffices on those
Great video sir. I am a fan of your channel. A couple of things you did not address are cleaning or replacing of MAP or MAS? Also, would be interesting to hear your take on carbon deposits on intake valves on DI engines like Hondas. Also, your take on oil dilution issues. Have they been fixed? I'm not real confident in Honda's "fix". Maybe these could be topics for future videos.
Thank you sir. Map and maf cleaning isn’t a thing, anyone selling that is just trying to rip people off. I could definitely go into di and carbon buildup topics for sure. I’m not worried about the dilution tbh. We have only seen 2-3 cases and it’s typically people with extremely short trips and colder weather.
Best Honda tech, I wish you could come to Louisville,KY
Haha, never know what tomorrow brings 👍🏻
I need to rotate and balance the tires on my 2005 Honda CR-V EX which has the elusive 5 speed manual transmission. Last oil change I did rotate them and I didn’t like the way it drove, so I switched them back and it drove fine after that. I think they need to be balanced so I will having that done on Tuesday. I don’t see any obvious uneven wear on the tires so I think they’re OK for now. I actually just had all four wheel bearing and hub assemblies replaced as well as all four axles and the front ball joints as well as the brake dust shields, which were completely rotted away. I also completely overhauled the entire braking system including all four pads, rotors, calipers, installed steel braided brake hoses on all 4 corners, all new parking brake cables, shoes, and hardware, and a new brake master cylinder, and that made a huge difference in braking performance. I did all this stuff as part of preventative maintenance. Some of the parts were bad. Some of them were OK, but I figured it was just best to go ahead and replace everything while I was in there and I’m really glad that I did. The car now stops on a dime and it doesn’t have any weird vibrations or noise going down the road anymore. I’m hoping that the rims aren’t bent as is sometimes the case when you get a vibration after rotating tires. But with 211,000 miles, you never know. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
Love your dedication to change all Critical parts at the mileage you have. Let us know how it goes from here 🙌
Love the vids man! Keep it up!
Just wanted to ask I got a 1.5t crv 17 currently @ 61k miles i got a p0087 code, my car stalled and couldn’t accelerate could it be the fuel pump in the tank thats having issues or the fuel pump by the engine? I appreciate it

do you need to replace the rear differential fluid less often if you're driving your car in FWD mode most of the time?
Would be lit to see this made into a PDF
I can get something done at some point
Thoughts on running 5w-30 in these 1.5 turbo engines but still at 5k interval? Heard it may stay thicker towards the end of the interval than a 20 by the time you dilute it with some fuel and run it through a hot turbo.
Thx for the useful vids. What do you think about the 22 civic sport .. thx in advance
Thanks for watching! Love the sport, and it has no 1.5t so that’s a bonus in the reliability dept.
Great video, love this stuff! Did you mention the transfer case and I missed it? Wife has a 19 RDX
Thank you! Every 30k although there’s not much happening inside of there, you can push it back some if needed. Unlike the trans and rear diff there’s no clutches in there.
Great video!
What's your advice for fluid change interval on 6MT attached to the K20C8.
Thank you.
Thank you!
30k unless modified or added power and driven hard. In that case every 15k
i thought in the manual it would give you a list of things to change. sad they don’t have that anymore. i’m worried i won’t be able to maintain my 23’ touring properly. but now i feel better
👍🏻👍🏻
I have a 2021 CR-V ex AWD I don't have far to go to work 10 to 15 min highway driving. My questions are would high test gas possibly help to keep oil dilution low? As well as as you mentioned help with head gasket failure. Last question, I get an oil change based off time vs miles example I have 10679 miles and have an oil change every 4 months. I've been ignoring the maintenance minder fort while I have not done the rear differential yet would you suggest doing it earlier thank you.
So top tier or higher octane fuel won’t help with the dilution. According to Honda that issue has been resolved although we know dilution is not uncommon with direct injection applications. Higher octane fuel will certainly help preventing head gasket failures imo tho. I would for sure ignore the maintenance minder and get that rear diff fluid changed 👍🏻
I change my oil at 40%.and took your recommendation on 15k for transmission
Sweet! 💪🏼
Great video man, thank you for this! I just scooped up a 2017 accord V6 coupe with the manual transmission. It’s got 22,000 miles on it, maintenance history as far as oil changes air filters etc, but my question is about transmission service you mentioned. Am I due for that at my mileage? I know you said the 10AT you can push 30,000 miles but I might of missed the 6 speed note. Thanks again
Congrats on the purchase. Anything 6at do every 15-20k max.
What is your recommendation on fuel induction cleaning? Since the valves do get carbon build up since they’re GDI engines now.
Going to be making a video on this since it’s a hot topic
Can you please reply, i'd really appreciate it. Does the 2019 - 2022 Honda Insight require the traditional coolant replacement method with the spill proof funnel? Or does it have to be performed at the dealer only since its a hybrid and has an inverter. Also PCV valve, does that also need to be done at 45K on the Insight?
I’ll reply when I get back In the country

First off, thank you for this video! Quest: I have a 2021 Pilot AWD EX-L, do all of these recommendations apply to my model? I took notes and I wrote down "drive belt" every 75-90k and then I wrote down "timing belt" every 90-100k miles. Just want to make sure those are two different belts in my Pilot? I think all the other maint items do apply but not sure on the PCV valve and the V6 oil pump? Thanks in advance for your help!
So yes, Pilot gets all the fluids essentially. As far as the drive belt, wait until the timing belt is needed as they are typically done at the same time and would be throwing money out to do drive belt earlier. As far as the oil pump reseal only if it’s leaking at the time of the timing belt. Pcv valve also should be done in your vehicle yes

I have a 2019 Honda Accord and am at about 60,000 miles. I do the regular oil change and tire rotation but what should I do at this mileage?
I am a new Honda Ridgeline buyer. Just got the 2024 trail sport edition. Does it really require this much aggressive maintenance. Seems premature on some fluids and too long on others. Just curious!
I bought a CPO 2019 MDX with 52,000 miles (ZF 9AT). A few hundred miles later the transmission was replaced under warranty.
That’s unfortunate, for some reason they seem to be way more problematic on the Acura side.
@@BCautosolutions I’ve heard the same from Acura techs at the training center
Hey there I hope this question finds you well. Do you have any advice for maintenance at 50k miles I'm about 4 k away and im of course, wondering if there's anything that I should get prepared for. I drive a 2018 civic Hatchback sport.
(Battery, fuel filter, etc...)
Battery every 3-5 years so if it’s original, it’s time. Fluids every 30k. Filters every 15k
I have a late 2022 Civic EX 1.5T CVT (I already drove 6000 miles). I usually drive it hard (chasing redline or doing pulls... sth like that).
The climate where I am living is very hot. Usually above 95°F and also dusty af.
Do you have any recommendations for the service intervals (engine oil change, CVT fuild, Brake Fluid, filters....etc)? I always use fully synthetic engine oil.
Oil 3k
Cvt fluid 20-25k
Brake fluid once a year
@@BCautosolutions thanks man, and how about the coolant?

We have a 2012 Fit with a 5AT, we do transmission fluid every 35-40000 miles (60000 km). Seems to be good so far, though the original fluid pressure switch must have got moisture in it (carwash?) went bad. Don't think it was a fluid issue though. Replaced the trans fluid pressure switch with a junkyard picked part and its been fine since!
Nice, those transmissions are great.
Thanks for the great information. Just bought my first Honda - 2023 HR-V LX with AWD two days ago. Anything specific for this vehicle that you didn’t cover? Saw online Honda recommends spark plugs as early as every 30k miles but seems way too soon. Should I stick to every 90k? Also, what about CVT transmission service? How often and what exactly should I have done? Thanks so much!
Congrats on your purchase! So far these cars are holding up great, stay tuned for my 1 year update on them later this year. Spark plugs 90k is fine, same for all the other fluids. Coolant you can do every 45-60k
I have an 2020 Honda civic exL wondering if there a recommend for spark plugs also since my timing belt it a chain when do I replace that. Also I hear to replace and PCV valve every 30k I also replace PCV Pipe because it had an split at 52k
Plugs 90k, no timing belt, PCV 30-60k.

I can’t remember tbh it’s been so long 😅

What are your recommended intervals? Average driving style.
Thanks
I have the 2020 Accord 2.0. My commute to work and back is 80 expressway miles and I drive about 27k miles a year. You mentioned 3000 mile oil change interval, but at that pace I’d have to change the oil 9 times a year. I have gone with 5000 mile oil changes with a full synthetic oil. Do you think this would be an okay interval for me?
Yes you will be fine every 5k 👍🏻
Thanks for the breakdown, this one’s going to be saved and shared a lot.
I’m going 6000 km (3700 miles) for oil changes on the dot and 50,000 km (30k miles) for both CVT/rear diff - 2.4 ‘16 CRV. I went too long on the oil changes and got the VTC rattle so I learned the hard way.
Question - do you recommend OEM with the filters or do you go aftermarket?
Just thinking through - I know you mentioned valve adjustments, what are the best intervals, and which engines require them (my CRV is due at 160k km coming up.
Last one - any fuel/oil additives for maintenance (Liqui Moly, CRC) that are worth it? CRC intake cleaner thoughts?
That sounds like a great plan. Yes oem filter is great.
@@k24wkevin valve adjustment every 100k, you can do intake cleaner, won’t hurt but doubt it does much tbh. As far as fuel cleaners just use top teor gas and that will be better then anything they sell. We don’t see injector issues with the k24w
@@k24wkevinHow long an oil change interval were you following before the vtc rattle started?
Hey there sir! What is your take on filling the new oil filter with fresh oil before installing? Is it necessary? Do you recommend it? We own a 13 RDX and 21 4Runner, thank you!
If you can due to it going in vertically, yes do it, if not, not a huge deal.
What point in time or milage do you recommend replacing the Thermostat in the engine for the coolant system?
75-100k
For the 9 speed trans fluid change are you following the manual where you need to check the temperature or do the dealer techs have a simpler procedure?
I measure what comes out and put back the same exact amount
@@BCautosolutions Great, this is the same procedure people on the forums are suggesting. I'll be doing mine a bit later than you recommend, around 50K miles. Should I do it again in 10-15K so more of the fluid is replaced?
@@blakefl8623 yes you could.
Does the CVT transmission filter need to be replaced on the 1.5T accord and is there an engine temperature you should be at when checking the fluid level?
Yes, every other service imo. They want it to be at operating temp although from what I’ve personally seen, it doesn’t really change anything as far as level checking.
@@BCautosolutions Thanks man. Do you just add the amount of fluid that was drained or do you add exactly what it says in the owners manual?
@@officialmikeditka usually what’s drained is what it says on the manual although your measuring tool could be wrong so have to be careful with that. Just go by what the manual says
Fuel Filter? Life expectancy of fuel pump……maintenance like timing belt? Nice job on service tips.👍
No filter besides the one of the fuel pump assembly which I would not recommend doing. Fuel pumps are also usually solid besides the ones affected by the recalls.
Hey, I’ve always heard and been told to not change my transmission fluid. By mechanics, car enthusiasts, car sales, and others. Do you suggest just using some sort of additive or actually changing it?

Spark plug wires were typically changed and now its coils..thry dont go bad or when changing sparks how do you know they need it?
I wouldn’t touch coils unless they give me a reason to. They don’t wear the same way wires did back in the day.
I have a 2017 accord sedan exl v6 with 55k miles on it. Never changed the differential fluid. Just recently changed the transmission fluid for the first time. This vids kinda got me worried lol.
You don’t have separate differential fluid on your car
Looking at a 2017 V6 Accord EXL with A/T of course. Its at about 95k miles and there's no history of transmission fluid changes. I want to keep the maintenance on the car if I decide to buy it... but trans fluid always scares the crap out of me.
My question is:
If it IS the first fluid change, would you do it or stay away from it? I'm looking to get at least another 100k out of the car and I wanna keep up on the maintenance work very well.
If it’s driving good I would do a drain and fill every other oil change until the fluid is at a desired color so you don’t shock the transmission.
@@BCautosolutions okay. Definitely no flush. Got ya! I may be even a little too paranoid because I know these transmissions are known for burning up the fluid...

Also. Once the fluid goes back to bright color again, would you jump straight back to 20-30k change intervals?

Former acura tech here. My 12 tsx 4 cylinder had 175k. Oil changes done no more than 3k and full synthetic 0w-20 every time. Ran like a champ burned no oil and the cams were spotless even with the age. All manufacturers are promoting this low maintenance extended oil life BS to get you to buy the car. But those engines burn oil at 100k. Neglect is the #1 engine killer. If you ever found your engine randomly low on oil between services you are probs too late the engine is already burning and you need to check it regularly from that point on. Usually woman owned lmao.

Question: Just bought a new Civic. Does Honda (2 year or 24,000 mile free maintenance program) allow oil and fluid changes earlier than the "maintenance minders" say they are needed? I would love to get an oil change at 3K miles. Will they allow it?
Most dealers will sticky follow the maintenance minded system. What you can do is change the oil yourself before the ln at whatever mileage and don’t reset the maintenance light. When it comes on, take it in for their oil change.
Last video suggestion - I know Car Care Nut was going to make one, but how to do a proper engine bay cleaning and detail.

@@BCautosolutionshow do you feel about the theory of using higher octane to help as many swear it lessens the amount of fuel spilling into oil. Coming from cold weather crv people.
@@Tracy-wr7mj higher octane is better for multiple reasons om a gdi turbo engine even more so.
Hey bro. Thank you for the information . I have a question. I have a CRV 2014 EXL. I don’t drive the car a lot, it has about 25k mileage.. I have been changing the oil twice a year.. when should I change the transmission oil? Or any other maintenance that I should do… thank you.
Considering the very low usage, I would consider all major fluids every 15-20k and even with that it’s probably on the aggressive side. Only thing that “goes bad” with time is brake fluid due to it picking up moisture and should be done every 2 years. I’d be more concerned with belts, hoses, etc… anything rubber really.
What about plugs on a 2019 passport with auto stop/start? The manual says 30k miles.
Spark plugs? 90k
in shopping for a CPO 2018-2020 Odyssey (Elite trim, so with the 10-spd) around the 90k-100k+ mile range, the dealers should have performed the 100k service? seems that would be most of what you just mentioned with maybe the exception of the oil pump reseal?
also notice there are a few of these for sale around the 85-110k mile range so I guess people didn't want to pay for the 100k service...!
Chances are that service wasn’t done. At that mileage even at a dealer it’s going to be as is and they will do safety work only.
@@BCautosolutions makes sense and I spoke to them about it and seems as if they will take care of since the vehicle is CPO if we work out a deal... so stay tuned! you may have a lifetime subscriber, but even better yet, if you could service it!
@@brandonbriscoe4712 im in jersey lmk!
Should you reseal oil pump and timing belt at the same time ?
No; we have zero oil pump issues. Oil pump reseal should be done only if there is a leak or signs of sweating oil.
Good points! Any info about PCV valve you want to share? Most of the maintenance you are suggesting are close to what I was doing to my 2010 Acura RL(recently sold it). Changed oil every 3k miles where as Maintenance Minder(MM) indicated about 4300k miles. That 3.7L engine was very hard on oil and by 3k miles, the oil could drop to 1/4th on the dipstick and by that time, it just made sense to change the oil. As for the transfer case and transmission fluid, the MM would indicate about 30k miles and fluid was still nice and pink. I usually don't bother with coolant replacement unless it begins to change color and is not clean. As for the brake fluid, I look at the color and also use the tool to check how much water is in it and act accordingly. Now with Acura Integra I got, I don't know yet what my plan for oil change will be and how a fuel dilution(if any) situation will play out.
Keep doing what you are doing and you should be fine, I wouldn’t worry too much about dilution. Pcv valve you can change every 30k, simple, inexpensive, etc…
@@BCautosolutions I remember testing PCV valve on my RL by pinching the hose and hearing click of the PCV valve. Do you know anything about newer Civic/Si/Integra with 1.5L Turbo engines? Maybe you can make a separate video about this engine, some dos and don'ts(if you don't have one yet).
@@Charkatak yea unfortunately I spend way too much time replacing injectors and head gaskets on them. Any specifics you would like to know?
@@BCautosolutions I recently took delivery of a new Acura Integra and would be interested in knowing if there were any modifications/updates that factory could of done to prevent issues you mentioned previously.
@@Charkatak head studs, stay on top of coolant levels, and premium fuel is about all you can do.
What are your thoughts on doing a transmission flush vs fluid change? I have a 2020 CRV and the dealership is pushing a flush. Thanks!
How many miles?
@@BCautosolutions 54,000 miles
@@marcdupuis9106 seems a bit aggressive. I think a simple drain and would suffice
@@BCautosolutions thanks for the advice. That’s what I was thinking too. I enjoy your content. Keep up the good work!
Does a Honda accord need rear differential fluid? It’s a front wheel drive car. I thought rear differential fluid is for rwd/awd cars?
According to does not need rear differential fluid
Curious I changed my tranny fluid on edge of my drive way car was tilted forward good amount
It’s Honda croustour 2011 exl 5 speed auto
It was a while ago but I rember it took all 4 quarts. Though was suppose to take 3.6 quarts not sure but got on li e after nice and warm
Will tilting car foward cause more to come out
Yes, having the car at an angle can increase/decrease the amount that comes out.
What about transmission fluid changes for the Acura 8-speed DCT? Manual says c. 100k miles, but I changed at c. 50k.
Yeah no more then 60k
Good info. Question: I just picked up a used 2019 Ridgeline with 65K miles. How would I know if the previous owner changed all the fluids (ATF, coolant, brake, etc.) at the required intervals? Are there some kind of visual/smell tests that can be done?
Visual really is the only way to tell and only brake fluid and trans fluid. Other systems don’t have a dipstick and coolant doesn’t discolor
Carfax is fairly well kept records..most mechanics will send of reports on work and maintenance..older cars not so dilligent. If its for sale on honda websites theres a carfax area to push and it shows the history...even accidents
Any recommendations for low mileage cars that get driven only 3000 to 5000 miles a year? Usually only drive it on the weekends.
Oil changes yearly minimum. Also keep tire pressure always on the high side to avoid flat spots as well as rotate them yearly. Other then that, brake fluid every 2 years as it absorbs moisture and all other fluids as I mentioned in video.
So on my 23 Ridgeline it's best to change rear diff at 7,500 miles for the first time?
Between 7.5k and 15k at the most. Get all that initial clutch break in west out of there.
What maintenance should I get done on 2016 Honda piliot 60k?
All the fluids, probably brakes and tires as well if haven’t been done already.
1995 Honda Accord wagon with a 2.2 liter I4 non-VTEC and 4 Speed Auto Transmission.
Has 118990 miles now.
Changed the oil every 5000 miles.
Serviced the transmission at 115000.
Any recommendations?
Timing belt?
Plugs, wires, caps, rotors?
Valve adjustment.
Should have all been done at some point, if not, it’s time..
I have a 2020 Pilot I just purchased. I know it is a six speed, is that the 6AT you are referencing every 15k ? Thanks
Yes exactly.
I have a 2013 MDX - how often on the transmission fluid change? I got it at 60k miles and the transmission was fluttering when shifting at 50 mph, got the transmission fluid changed and the problem was solved. Now we are at 80k miles. Thanks!
I believe those come with the 6at which in that case every 15-20k
Would you be able to tell me how much hcf2 fluid I need for a drain and fill for the 2022 Honda civic 1.5T ?
About 3.5-4 qts. Need to fill, drive, check level with removing the level check 12mm bolt of the trans. Bolt is on the radiator side of the trans marked.
@@BCautosolutions hell yeah thank you sir 🫡

How about for a 2021 ilx with the dct ? Is 30k still good for transmission fluid drain and fill?
Yes

I recently got a certified pre-owned 21 Acura RDX A-spec SH-AWD. It had 47-48xxx miles on it and the oil life was at 90% in late Sept. when I bought it. Now that we are in Dec. I’ve put about 2,500 miles on it and oil life is at 60%. I’m not driving aggressive… to and from work 30 miles a day and here and there over the weekends with the fam. I’m confused with the manufacturers recommended every 10k miles oil change. Should I wait that long?
No
Don’t wait that long. 3-5k oil changes intervals max.
