Frontier Defense is a wave-based, co-operative game mode that was added to Titanfall in Game Update 8. This game mode is compatible with all Titanfall maps including their DLC counterparts. It returned to Titanfall 2 in July 2017.
Brief:
Frontier Defense is a wave based, cooperative game mode where four Militia Pilots must work together to defend an objective known as a Harvester from numerous, increasingly difficult waves of IMC forces. Each map has a customized series of waves that will always spawn, allowing for player strategies for specific rounds to be developed. Upon completion of a match, players will be assigned a star rating based on how many Minions they have killed, alongside other factors such as total deaths and how much health the Harvester has left. For further information please see: titanfall.wikia.com/wiki/Front...
Titanfall 2 is a science-fiction first-person shooter video game and a sequel to Titanfall. It was developed by Respawn Entertainment and was released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows on October 28, 2016. For further information please see:

"Tone is the titan that has the least amount of use in this mode."
ButterBar would disagree.
Jesus Christ on a bike! Honestly she isn't very good! Her core is only useful for one enemy (Compared to other cores) and almost every other titan has a higher dps than her.
Lol i use tone on frontier defense and i always deal alot of damage
@@neonjaca8241 I've never used tone in frontier defense, I take it you use multiple tracking rockets on multiple targets?
@@shootingstardragon7764 I find it fun to mark every thing and just stand right Infront of a titan and watch it die
@@asnahzainal773 so you know of her full power, please teach me
I’m sorry, but scorch for me best works with tempered plating, I mean cmon. Being able to run through your own flames. Activate that flamecore, use shield, launch two thermite balls. Then dash backwards, shield/reload. Throw traps then ignite. Rinse and repeat. Great video, all the info I need tbh. I need to start using other titans lol
Nah thermate laucher is better
@@dankkermit3291 I’ll definitely have to try that out 👍👍
Since running tempered plating in cqc it becomes almost a neccesity when in small maps
Scorched earth is better than both. If you use your core on a large group of enemies scorched earth will give you your core back instantly
Yeah but you might as well use ur thermite shield to melt arc titans if they get close, u need that for hard mode and higher.
people making fun of his voice but al least its understandable compared to other youtubers who speak really fast
No
I find it kind of funny how their voice sounds genderless... it’s strange but quite nice tbh
Actually, I think his voice is wonderful
Facts
Ahem* Ben Shapiro
There are two loadout strategies with titans as far as I'm concerned.
1) Equip perks/abilities that compensate for your titans particular shortcomings to make it viable in more situations. (Jack of all trades)
2) Maximize your titans unique ability making its particular strengths even stronger. (Master of one)
Like using Northstars improves payload to make cluster missile devastating. It’s unbelievable when combined with the last aegis rank because it fires two per charge. Recharges in 10 seconds, meaning only 4 seconds of people not getting blown up. It makes Northstar a much better offensive option because your splash damage is more useful and you can actually kill infantry in under 30 seconds
I use Arc rounds, maelstrom, and superior chassis in PVP. For PVE I use Missile racks, rearm and reload, and multi-target missiles because it's super fun
I used to use arc rounds in pve, but I decided to use monarch to give friendly titans health. It works best if you use rearm and reload on tanks and the good players.
Missile racks is better then arc rounds in pvp.
A Monarch with nuke eject in any case is like taking a fine wine to the fountain of youth
I use legion with overcore & enhanced ammo capacity. I also tend to be "homeland security", staying close to the harvester & covering the lanes closest. Allowing my team to maneuver at will with little worry of a surprise flanking causing permanent damage or an over correction that will shift teammates out of position & cost us in the longrun. Legion is slow, so it makes more sense to me to mitigate his speed limitation with clever positioning and maximizing his damage potential to quickly eliminate any danger close situation or clear any long, narrow sight line with a torrent of hot metal.
Thank you for making this, I have recently bought Titanfall 2 and am loving this co-op mode!
Same
i disagree with the more hp on monarch, especially if you're playing as support. You shouldnt be taking that much damage to begin with to make it necessary and the extra damage will help you start carrying your own weight.
Monarch is best for fd in my opinion. Especially with energy thief. But usually used for defense purposes.
For when I run ronin, I use highlander and nuclear kits for maps like homestead, or forwardbase kodai, which makes for a pretty good infinite core
Honestly nuclear kit is good for fd. Especially when enemies near the harvester. Sometimes in order to win you have to make sacrifices so self destructing your titan while overwhelmed with enemies is good idea
@@scrateswpo1659 there is no need to sacrifice when you can do invi glitch and with highlander you have infinite sword core even with out blade master unless your team think it's funny ks you
Just over core and highlander ftw
Nuclear ejects are super over rated. Fun though
It generally depends for me. I find myself already fast enough as Ronin so I tend to go with Nuke Eject, though it’s mostly just as a safety for when I am trying to fight the hordes of nuke titans / scorches. Because I’m already in a decent spot for the nuke and if I’m going to lose my titan anyways I may as well take out the enemies that brought it down.
I also run Nuke Eject for Northstar, though it’s mostly because I just don’t care as much about the other options.
@@vergil9981Unless you are doing 1 man insane FD (Or just generally insane FD runs) most people I see on Master and below (myself included) doesnt do that, kind of ruins the fun of risk factors and hero moments, I basically use nuke eject on all my titans except Monarch, Ogre class titans = more chances to get upclose and get some nice titan kills, Stryder class have the mobilty AND movement-ish kits to get in quick and kamikaze yourself, Atlas class ones are a mixed bag of both, and nuke eject has the potential to kill 5 or more titans if they get close so why not? Sort of a desperate measure type of thing or to take down some enemies with your titan
Very helpful video, thanks a lot! :D
I'd disagree on the the kit choice, especially since nuke wasn't mentioned. On a ronin or Northstar, with which you can hover or phase into a group of enemies it can be very deadly.
when i heard the voice im like holy shit am i watching th right channel then i see the name and that voice is nice btw
Hah it is indeed the same channel => Tricky gets support from HCF and myself on his videos. Many hands make light work as they say!
Very helpful video, Kodomono is the boss
Thank you! I'm glad it was of some assistance =>
Awesome vid, I salute you sir.
Thank you good sir, be sure to subscribe i've got more content on the channel :)
Thanks friend, i bought this game to play with my brothers, the tips are really usefull
tone is great for upping team dps with enhanced sonar from aegis skill earned. 20% boost in damage.
As someone who is a devout ronin player i would argue highlander is the best all the time, the dash spam paired with being able to 3-4 shot the majority of titans (less if you use e smoke or arcwave) is borderline broken and i havent gotten the final aegis upgrade yet so i dread to think how op it would be then...like i tend to play the complete opposite pilot wise of whats reccomended here as i love the movement system as opposed to putting up an A wall and having a kill zone that nothing can enter.
My pilot loadout tends to be the single shot rifle the g2 i think?, wingman, grav star because it can block projectiles when placed right, grapple hook for stealing enemy titan cores and healing my ronin or teammates, hover as i havent unlocked the titan hunter yet, power cell and archer/beam sniper for anti titan.
Most games tend to be my team mates stay near by the harvester and lockdown the lanes while i go round the edges and try to take out as many nuke titans or mortors as i can before sword core runs out, this being said i think if you have two or more ronins its a massive detriment to the team.
I find that executions are kind of worth while as they give you that bonus frame of invincibility
executions waste time. only monark whith battery thief should use executions. its faster to kill titans whith your weapon.
@@TheNilar unless youre surrounded and need invincibility frames
Well I run my Monarch more offensive outside of the overcore ability. I instead went for an extra shock cloud over it but thinking about it yeah if my teammates are actually going to listen it would be better for overcore and will help with survivability and offense even more. Thank for the info and subbed
YES! I don't play this but lit VO Kodomono! :P
Cheers Toxi
you sound like a airlines narrator and i love it
Bro the heat shield upgrade for scorch is insane all you gotta do is get in close to somebody and boom hold the button and there dead
I loved the video. Very informative. I've been messing around with loadouts for a bit. Thanks for the video. Forget the haters.
It really depends on the map imo. For example, Relic is best for northstar and scorch, Angel city is more legion and tone, etc
my pilot loadout is a-wall, fire star, devotion or spitfire (extra ammo, speed loader), archer (speedloader, gun ready), power cell, titan hunter.
a strat I use on maps like rise with drone spam is 2 sentrys placed as close together as possible, throw a-wall infront.
for my schoch it's overcore and tempered plating all the way
hope this helps someone :)
I've gotta try scorch sometime. Thats an interesting loudout, I think i could use that when my monarch blows up when facing like 5 titans
@@shootingstardragon7764 devotion absolutely shreds titans when you hit the crit box especially when it's amped
@@downgoldfish202 I'll definitely keep that in mind
@@downgoldfish202 I tried the amped devotion, no a-wall and it was seriously good paired with my monarch somehow getting blown up twice
@@shootingstardragon7764 glad I could help
I'd disagree about Ion's kit; Entangled Energy makes you lose no energy if you hit split shot crits and is incredibly useful (Especially when you have Efficient Split Shot and more energy Aegis upgrades)
It is something I've been thinking about trying more of, but you do lose a lot of damage output not using the Splitter Shot all the time.
Entangled energy doesnt work when split shooting, only in regular fire. It sounds good on paper, but in practice its kinda weak.
HCF249 It actually does work! I've been using this loadout (Overcore + Entangled Energy) from rank 2 to 24 so I'm pretty sure it works
your voice sounds similar to zuzucorn's voice, its calm and easy to understand :)
Him: nuke eject isnt worth it, nuke rodeo is better
Me with both nuke eject and nuke rodeo: IM SORRY WHAT I CANT HERE YOU WITH ALL THE EXPLOSIONS
Players of hard or master and isane mode will disagree
@@vergil9981 The only titan thats worth nuclear explosion is probably Northstar.
I feel bad for Kodomono.. people insults his voice
Hah it's fine =) It doesn't bother me. Thank you
Has anyone started using the a wall yet, for next update
I’d say that the auto titans can be very beneficial in some cases, although they are only good on high health Titans, such as scorch or legion.
If you invest enough in the shields and durability an upgraded Monarch can hold the line rather well, at least against the stragglers that slip by everyone else.
No way Jose, auto titan have 0 benefit in harder difficulties
TONE is the best at off/deff ops. Using electronic smoke and particle wall. TONE also has the highest fastest and most consistent damage output
I agree
Yes but Here is my list of most efficient titans for fd to least efficient
1. Monarch
2. Tone
3. Legion
4. Ion
5. North star
6. Robin
7. Scorch
Scorch is last personally because he ain't weak but isn't very efficient in fd in my opinion
@@scrateswpo1659 Yall are tripping. Scorch is THE best titan on maps with huge corridors like Rise. Ronin also decimated enemy forces with Highlander and Northstar is the best at slowing down enemies with its tripwires. Tone has the worst DPS and only gets somewhat good at high Aegis level.
I know it's a little late to be sending a comment but I see a lot of people using survival of the fittest on their monarchs during Frontier defense even though saving for a new Titan may not seem that appealing It's usually the better option and if that's not enough a amp battery can pull your Titan out of Doom state making it 100% pointless and if you really do want to waste the credits in order to save your Titan use a amp battery
How to win in frontier defense: Use monarch. And if that don't work, use more monarch
Well said
Use ronin in , highlander sword core and rekt anything while your team wonders if you are a hacker
I really like your voice. Not only is it attractive, but it's soft, sweet, and most importantly it's different. I like how unique it is. I'll start watching you.
Simp
Urban yes so true
He had all the frontier warpaints
Hey, what's with that arm pad thing I see?
I mainly use Northstar with piercing shot and turbo kit. I love S P E E D.
Ronin in sword core in Flash 💀
Is Northstar really good ? I haven't playing it
@@LaCremosaure Northstar is really good for chunk damage, I've had instances of destroying a line of nuke Titans. It's pretty good on 3 lane maps. Still good on more open maps due to the NPCs being kinda doodoo lol
@@insertnamehere5417 Haha okay, thank you, I will test it. I play Monarch this times in Frontier Defense and, she is good, but wow, so slow to kill titans
@@LaCremosaure Monarch is pretty good for longevity
@@insertnamehere5417 Yes yes haha
I've used Scorch's tempered plating and Nuke eject. This setup helps me when he hits doom State and I'm surrounded. That happens to me almost every game.
As effective as that sounds, I imagine keeping Scorch is the better alternative. It may be worth trying to find better places to attack from so you're not surrounded as often =>
Kodomono for me, scorch is my main and my loadout is nuke ejection and tempered plating, when the nuke titans start to gather amongst the legions , nothing better than dumping your gas cylinders and slamming down flame core, because of the tempered plating I just dash into my carnage (because I fucking can haha) and finish any stragglers (if they survive the initial blast), why I love to be surrounded, if it gets hairy and doomstate hits, good old nuke ejection takes alot of titans out, good vid bro
Scorch Main here, I personally use Overcore and Tempered Plating for my Scorch. The aim for me is to get Flame Core as fast as possible to take out enemy titans. By using the Aegis Upgrades and Overcore to your advantage, you can keep throwing down your core repeatedly. Tempered Plating effectively gives you more health due to the lack of critical hits. I've never seen the need for upgrading his Thermite Cannon, since its only for pokes or for triggering thermite traps.
Remember, Scorch does the most damage from his Thermite Traps (Stacking AoE Damage) and his Aegis Upgrades compliment this. Rely on them to actively gain your core!
Cheers for this one => When I play again I'll run this setup for a few matches. The Flame Core is obtained super fast already with that mentioned Aegis upgrade, but combining that with Overcore must have some serious fire power =>
i always use nukler ejection besides monarch,
why wouldn't you use it ,just like you lose you titan but you can kill alot of enemy titans
at least in frontier defense ,.....in pvp i always use overcore
What is that monarch and ronin skin?
Best Voice! ❤️
You're too nice Mary =>
Low key a relaxing voice
That's my kits.
Honestly, idk why people say tone has least use in this mode because, i use him so much in every mode. i disagree with tone having least amount of use in this mode. (also monarch is my least used titan because i suck at monarch).
Angela, I require healing
Tones damage is just good but ya for master there are better pucks
Bruh...
I rly like ur voice.
I don’t know why but he reminds me of Stampy.
I had to subscribe to kodomono because I'm assuming that some people must make fun of your voice and you don't seem bothered and 8:47 XD I can relate to that I'm a genji main
I'm not a hater ps ( grate voice)
I don't like what he did with scorches kit. I mostly see players using thermal shield than their titan gun and scorch gets extra damage when you rank him up.
Flame shield gets no damage boost from aegis ranks, using shield over main weapon and other abilities is a bad strat.
I disagree tone is one of the better ones it’s if you have max agis rank If you sonar pulse And use missiles you’ll do 2 1/2 bars of damage
Use warpfall
Kodomono! Hi! How is your "pilot training" going. Clearly you don't need it.
Hah I certainly need it on Attrition! Frontier Defence I seem to be passable at =p Thank you for asking!
Your Welcome.
Nuke eject? Nuke eject is only effective with tone because tone isn't the best escape artist!
This guy's voice needs some 808's its like waiting for the beat to drop and it never does...
KAMIKAZE RONIN>ALL NUKE EJECT HIGHLANDER
Well... Pilot kit is almost irrelevant, and depending on the map and difficulty, Scorch, Monarch and Ronin are best. The others are good for nische uses tho, so a blanket recommend just doesn't work in most scenarios. However I agree that Auto Titans are fackin useless!!
Listen I don’t mean to be that guy but I’m not taking advice from a guy who runs A-Wall on FD
This guy used both energy siphon upgrades on monarch this guy doesn’t deserve an opinion
How does the agies rank work?
It's like normal rank but exclusive to frontier defesen it gives passives to each titan
Not first cuz nowone cares
What happened to trickyacid?
aids
i downloaded the game last friday ,i have been only playing the defense mode as north star .,im level 33 now ,and done nothing else
ok,at me tell you guys something right, the assault chip is extremely good with Ion and refraction lens, leave next to the harvester and do your thing while it does the same thing, I speak from complete experience
Don’t listen to peaple your voice is wonderful!
You are wrong about ion, her first kit where she gets energy by hitting critical points is the best one and sure, I do use zero point tripwire from time to time, being able to spam out all your abilities as long as your rifle is loaded it great
Scorch I agree
NS I agree
Ronin Highlander is the best kit overall
Legion all kits are usable, and when maxed he gets them all so who cares
Monarch only has only 1 usable kit, Energy thief, and for her cores,
Core 1, any of them are usable
Core 2, only really useful one in higher difficulties is Enhanced smoke
Core 3, just use the XO-16 Accelerator, having 2 bars of extra health, 3 if your Arch is aegis 4, is cool and all, but you need more dps
Tone Sonar pulse and the extra rockets are the best, I have seen people do extremely well with the triple shot one but unless your very accurate just go with the other ones
P.S.
I'm G37 so you can take my word on it, with all titans at least G20+ and all my titans are maxed out with the aegis ranks
I'll have to try out Ion's first kit for myself. You're not the only one to have mentioned it being really decent. Thank you => It's good to know the rest are looking good on the tips front!
Kodomono You're welcome, and thanks for being the only content creator that responds like a human being and not super pissed that I slightly disagreed with you✌️
Hah anytime =) It's always good to try new things and strive for improvement! Games like Titanfall are all about experimenting what works and what's fun =>
Tone is the best Titan to use in Frontier Defense.

Pretty sad that I deleted Titanfall 2. Tried to hold on it as long as I could but it really is EXTREMELY repetitive and boring. Hope Titanfall 3 will last me more than a year or 2.
You could use that argument against every FPS, though. And Respawn have given us free DLC every month.
You probably shouldn't hold your breath for titanfall 3. With EA running the show now I seriously doubt they'll release any more because they wouldn't want to compete with their beloved Battlefield for sales
Respawn confirmed they ain't doing titanfall 3
Disliking due to cringeworthy voiceover.
