Federal Signal Thunderbolt 1000T, Attack & Alert: Paducah, KY (McCraken Co. Tornado Siren Test, HD)

    *First Thunderbolt recording (yay)
This is a monthly test of Paducah, Kentucky's Weather Siren System. Tests are conducted the first Saturday of each month at 1PM CST. They appear to test a full, three minutes of attack followed by one minute alert (which caught me off guard during this recording). In fact, I had to do a lot of editing because my main camera was already turned off by the time this siren wound up for the second time. Paducah also has a system of fire sirens tested daily at 6PM. There is also another system of Whelens at the nearby nuclear enrichment plant. Two of these Whelens are mounted right next to each other.
In case you are wondering, this Thunderbolt is located on Hinkleville road near an elementary school. Towards the end you can hear two 1000Ts, a 2001, and a single tone 1000 possibly coming from Lourdes Hospital. One of the other 1000Ts sounded like it was located close by but I couldn't exactly pinpoint a location. It could be the Jackson St. Thunderbolt that may have been relocated since a 2001 replaced it a few months back. This is also the second time I tried recording this. The first attempt last January failed because the dispatchers were worried about the weather despite it being below freezing all day.

what the heck? the horn wiggles a little! it seems like the bolts holding the horn on the stator are either loose or missing. i can see a gap between the horn and the stator when it rotates to the side. also, the attack timer could be adjusted just a little bit so it peaks all the way before winding down.

Sounds like it's getting all of its air, but a lot of that sound is coming out between the horn flange and chopper cap instead of going through the horn, thus why it sounds so tinny. Gives you an idea of what one would sound like running without the horn though.

Someone forgot to replace the horn bolts near the chopper when they did some repairs to the siren. So, a lot of air is leaking through the gap between the chopper and horn.

Yes and no. My main camera shut off so before the second portion I had to use audio from my backup. Audio is from the same siren.
