In this budget friendly small apartment kitchen organization hacks & ideas video, we're organizing my small kitchen by creating a DIY free standing pantry cabinet. We will be organizing the pantry and creating DIY labels using my cricut joy. We will be transforming an ikea cabinet in this pantry makeover into the ultimate apartment renter friendly pantry. Hey, if the black had not worked out, you could always paint over it. BUT it turned out awesome, so the risk was worth it! Looks beautiful!
My 13 year old daughter picked a deep gray for her bathroom vanity. I was sooo hesitant because I felt it was too dark. I was wrong! It looks fabulous!

I just recently did a free standing pantry. Oh the difference in everyone seeing what is there. Although we are in our own home food was definitely taking valuable space for containers, housing appliances to have a clear clutter space. With a family of 4 adults (2 adult children) 2 teenagers (grandchildren) with distant learning and adults but myself working outside of home this has been a major game changer. Especially stocking as we continue to prepare for the unexpected. Just a great feeling isn’t it to assemble a project this size. Lovely transformation.

I find Ikea cabinets are such a great buy and accommodate a lot. I am a huge Ikea fan. It is great quality stuff and thus far never bought products with missing parts.
When I first noticed the name of the video I thought it was a repeat. OMGosh ... LOVE your new pantry! I am adding this to my saved so next year I can go and finally get a decent looking pantry shelf. My home was built in the 60s and I barely have enough cupboards for my dishes. I've been using one of those industrial style metal shelves. While I think I need a little more space than what you have I will be seeing what Ikea has that might work for me. Thank you!

I love it, especially that you made it your own with the painting and the handles. I feel like painting the lids copper would be too much copper in the end, but just my opinion. You do you, girl! I love how this turned out!!! We don’t have a pantry so we have to use cabinet space which isn’t ideal. You got me thinking how I can make something like this work in my kitchen. Great choice in painting the doors!

I think the black doors really gave the pantry an elevated look! I use my China cabinet (similar to this pantry with shelves and a cabinet at the bottom) for appliance storage so all my food is in cabinets for now. But I like being able to put my most used appliance and the very top of the shelf so they are out of the way/off the counters, but still really convenient for me to grab when I need them. I bet if you end up wanting to use some extra storage, especially for stuff you don't want Carson getting into, you could put a couple nice wicker baskets on the top to storage stuff in!
Definitely could throw some baskets up there, It’s so versatile! That makes complete sense to store your appliances that way, it sounds like you have a good system down ☺️

Love your new pantry! You could move your old white cabinet into your storage area to hold an overstock of food or other small storage items like decor.

Looks good, I use glass jars & painted them and found after annual wash the paint started to chip. Luv the idea of the cricket joy.
That’s kinda what I’m thinking may happen if I paint them.. probably not worth the trouble! The Cricut joy is awesome!

I love this! You did such a fantastic job! I wouldn’t spray paint the lids bc I don’t think they would hold up to constant touching and regular washing. Just my opinion. I really hope things are going well for you! You sound happy!

Looks great! Having rented a lot I would suggest taping Bay Leaves to the inside tops of your glass jars. This will keep out pantry moths and any other bugs that might be attracted. It works well and does not affect the smell or taste of your food.

TFS. I love Ikea. Some of their furniture has been through many many moves and I still own 18 years later. I live in AZ and some of those I had purchased in PA. We have lived in 13 states thus far moving for hb or my work.
And its funny Im over here painting over any and all of black real wood furniture pieces because I favor creams, whites and blues.
Yay someone else who washes especially food items before using. As a ICU nurse I cringe watching some CZcamsrs. I never comment on theirs but especially right now I really worry about infections.
Also a tip to keep your brown sugar soft I add a piece of baby teething toast to my storage container. My mom used to do that in case it helps someone.
As a youtuber and influencer I think you do need to do everything far ahead of the holiday.
And you asked so I would be careful if you choose to paint the lids that the paint is food safe. Its funny how finishes can leach into your foods.

Your pantry looks really nice. You should change the hardware of the other pantry to the bronze handles like the new furniture. Yes, you should paint the jar lids. You don't have to wash the lids just use a wet paper towel or e clothes and wipe them when they get dirty. You did an amazing job

Well worth the wait!! Awesome job on your DIY pantry project! Did you repurpose the other cabinet? Did you bolt to the wall for stability? Probably not a concern where you live as necessary for earthquakes (like here in CA) but merely a safety feature for underfoot toddler boys (who may or may not like to climb?) I had a homemade pantry built for me from my FIL - about the size of my smaller refrig unit years ago mainly for a microwave display, but I've actually repurposed and decluttered it with one more shelf to go, but I did buy another smaller pantry cabinet with doors. Yes having ample space for foodstuffs in an apt is crucial and is equally prime real estate.

Is your cricket easy to learn, I’m an older person. Don’t remember things to good, but I could really use the heck out of it.
