Hey Moose... thanks for the vid.. i was looking for the ideal size and your video put that into perspective. I got my Ruggard last night and i am more than happy with it. I live in Central America, very humid and i have previously lost gear to mold.. wasn't gonna happen again with my new gear. Thanks again!
Hey moose, i have a question! This video is now 6years old. Its even past the 5 years warranty. I wanted to know how your long term experience has been? Has it worked as you wanted it? Any ups or downs? :p
@@MoosePetersonthats reassuring to hear! I got mine a day after I wrote to you. It was supposed to have arrived today, but somehow, they delivered it within 2 days. Although the RH is 10% ish off, Its been functioning great and is very stable with keeping the RH%. I got the 50L weathered oak version.
Nice but seems like a solution in search of a problem. Realistically how many times have you had pro gear fail due to humidity issues? My biggest worry is condensation due to temperature and humidity changes in different environments. Like a cold hotel room then stepping out into a hot humid day. A zip lock bag and desiccant for an hour is all it takes to acclimate gear. Just my 2 cents.
If you live in a humid environment, then this box could be a better solution. If it's occasional then the angry photographer and his followers are probably right.
My D500 just died on my during shooting pro surfing comp. It was pouring and was very windy, I had a think tank rain cover on it, so my camera wasn't wet, just humidity and moisture killed it. Lucky it happened at the very end of the competition. The camera was dead, couldn't turn it on/off all buttons not operational. Today after hours of drying it in the room temperature it slowly coming back to life. First I could turn it on only. Now I can take photo but only one in Single mode, CL and CH not working at all, after that I get ERR message. My LCD screen is back too, but still few buttons are still dead. Basically camera is a mess, but I can see signs of life, so hopefully tomorrow it should be in much better condition. Dry cabinet would be very helpful right now.
@Malik Martin If you would rather not have your gear all over the place, (like I did) why not have a storage cabinet that can also be a dehumidifier. I live in the northeast where the humidity, mold, and fungus can be a real issue.
Hi. Did you have problems connecting it to an outlet.? I have the 120 liter cabinet . I connect it to 120 V electrical outlet but electrical brakers keep turning off when they sense this cabinet. It says power of this cabinet is from 110 to 240V.
It's a safety plex but yeah, there is. I appreciate it because I live in earthquake country and it keeps the door from swinging open if there is one and the gear goes up against the door.

that great! Enjoy. Glad my vid was of assistance!
Nice one Moose caring for gear is vital we don't have that brand here in Australia but have similar keeps that humidity at bay for sure.
Thanks! Most excellent!
On Uk Amazon they are sold as Spolehli I guess who ever designed it is having it licence built in different places.

Howdy! Thanks for asking, great question! I still use it and it performs as it did right out of the box new.

This is more for long term things like fungus and dust build up. Obviously not bringing this during travels.

I have no issues at all.
Do they really work?
This is temperature controlled also, right? What temp ranges does it support?
Not temp controlled.
they put a lock with a glass window?

Does this survives an apocalyptic event?
@@one4allall4one91 regrettably there is nothing in the warranty about zombies :-)
Do you keep them in there all the time when not in use or just to “dry” them out between assignments ?
Its just a storage with a set RH level. I suppose you could use it to have them adjust to a different RH quicker, but yea. Its just a storage
Capacity of your cabinet?
Do you keep your speedlights in there also?
SB-5000, yes. Profoto, I don't. Thanks for watching
Do you place silicon gel in cabinet?
no its got its own way of removing humidity.
Is RUGGARD the best?
That I don't know, just what I use
Ruggard, andbon, spholeli, whatever. Theyre all the same, and most likely, theyre produced by the same manufacturer.m
I thought the RH should be 40-50%
Yes but you set it to 40% for camera gear and it will re switch on if it gets to 43% getting it back down to roughly 40%.
