Our new one also wasn't the same height as any of our others.
I moved into my home in late 2016 and my house came with this old Kenmore dishwasher. Almost 8 years later, it is still running. I partially want to get rid of it because it's old but it keeps on working so makes sense to keep using it as long as it keeps cleaning dishes.

I'm a maintenance director as a newer property and it still took me a second but somewhere between Jim explaining the hole in the wall and reciting his installer had an issue I knew he needed an electrician. In the 90s hardworking dishwashers to a whip was all the rage. Now almost all the states require them to just be wired to a plug and installed into an outlet for fire prevention and safety. Not to mention it makes it "easier" for the DIY homeowner to install without zapping himself.

Im old school, i dont trust dishwashers. I wash everything by hand still because i have so many memories of my parent's dishwasher not fully cleaning things
I've never seen one that actually works. My parents bought a new one a few years ago; never has worked. The one it replaced never worked; when it did you had to wash the dishes before putting it in otherwise it couldn't get anything clean without six or seven cycles. Mine doesn't work, eventually I'm going to yank it out, board up the cabinet, and toss the sucker in a dumpster at work. Just got to fix my truck or trailer.
Same here. The dishwasher in my house was a dish rack. When we sold the house, we told the buyers the dishwasher was never turned on for 20 years.

Jim . I have a dish washer, it's called a sink.you need a sink obv, hot water, a plug , run said until it hot , put in the plug, put washing up liquid up , not 12 pence stuff though . Place dirty plates, cups. Knives ect in said water until said sink is fall, got dish cloth run said dirt of pots and pans . Put them on drainer . Empty sink . Get towel , dry pots and pans, put them in cupboard. .

Jim, new dishwashers are flat yes. But most of them also come with some form of tunnel or hole that you can string the power cord through. Mine, for instance, is a new model, and it has a little tunnel opening for the power on the base along the left side.
