can't wait for the full prius testing!!
look at that whiplash, oh my
Omg i just found a newly posted video 2 hours ago lol

Why is the headrest angled like that? Isn't that a saftey issue? Seem like one would badly injure their neck if rear-ended.
I don't understand why this only got an A? I guess I'm still a bit of a layman a bit in this but it doesn't look any different from tests that got G
The dummy injury measurements were too high.
@@directorjustinfair enough, maybe it recorded higher g-forces in the extremeties
Usually a lower score in these newer cars are related to seat belt tensioners or air bags
Yes, it looks similar to cars with G rating. I'm guessing, you can't see the difference with the naked eye. Gotta consider the sensor data from the dummies.
We generally don't like to decelerate too quickly because our insides turn to mush.
First? Also thank you IIHS for making these videos
This vehicle looks like it preformed about as well as it could've, ran out of crumple zone and the passenger cell stayed strong, good airbag deployment and the rear passenger looked alright. CUV's and SUV's will inherrently get a better rating due to their larger sizes and bigger crumple zones. But tbh this looks like an incredibly safe car, especially compared to 10-15 years ago
The ratings are based on dummy injury measurements. An "acceptable" rating means the injury measurements were too high for a "good" rating.
@@directorjustin Yeah I know. Im just saying the Prius looked like it tried its absolute best here. There’s only so safe you can make a 3k lb medium sized hatchback.
@@fuze3522 Weight is a detrimental factor in the moderate and small overlap crash tests since the vehicle has to contend with its own weight after contacting the rigid barrier. It's easier to make a 3k pound car pass this test than a 4k pound car because the structure is under less load. The most important factor in reducing the likelihood of injury in a crash is extending the crash time, thereby decreasing the forces experienced by the occupants. After that, it's about maintaining a safe space for the occupants and restraining them properly- again, all in the pursuit of reducing dangerous levels of force. Based on this video, it appears the rear seatbelt failed to restrain the dummy properly.
@@directorjustin Most likely the lower lap belt caused excessive force. The objective is to slow the occupants down not completly lock them in place. And given how short of a crumple zone this vehicle had id say it did pretty well. Rear seat belt could use some retuning and im sure with a couple minor tweaks Toyota could get this car to have a good rating.
Quite the contrary. Bigger SUVs Venza and RAV-4 got M (marginal) score, which is even worse. While Mazda 3 got G (good), which is better.
Fix the rest of the Marginal Rated vehicles in Toyota and Lexus lineup please!
惜しい評価ですねプリウス😅
Mediocre underperformance, like everything Toyota does. This is bad for a brand new vehicle. Compare the anemic seatbelt pretensioning to the Mazda CX-90.
Who hurt you?
@@enda0man Prius rear seatbelts
@@enda0manthe fact of the matter is, Toyota as a brand does nothing ground breaking, they do just enough to slip by and it shows.
This isn't the first time Toyota has struggled when a new testing procedure was introduced. The 2012 Camry received a "poor" rating in the first small overlap test, and even after certain underperforming Toyotas were structurally enhanced to the driver's side, they underperformed again on the passenger side small overlap test when it was introduced.
Mazda CX-90 is a huge SUV. It's more fair to compare to a Mazda 3, which got G in this test.
