Sifans race was just insane. U missed the fact that she had to stop twice to stretch, but also later in the race had to run across the road because she forgot to pick up her water bottle. After casually offering the rest of her drink to an opponent she just took off. She told a Dutch reporter later that she was very nervous for the marathon and just came there to get experience. Her coach also said she may decide to participate in a track event and the marathon in Paris next year. She is without a doubt the best female distance runner ever.

This performance in my eyes is objectively even better than Eliuds WR in 2022.
    The conditions were not perfect.
Kiptum basically ran sub 60 for the second half 🤯🤯
This guy is the real deal.
Kiptum oh my god I still cannot belive it.
If he races in Berlin or Valencia this summer he breaks that WR. He basically could easily have broken the WR today. He looked so easy and had so much in his tank. The boy will run sub 2 absolute momster.
We need Kiptum in Berlin, and it will be unreal to see what he will do in Paris next year. Hopefully Kipchoge will make the Kenyan team. Cause the Kenyan Marathon debth is insane (Benaon Kipruto, Amos Kipruto, Chebet, and many more)

Kiptum at 23 is the future, if he is healthy he will surely break the WR, Kipchoge showed what can be done and the mental barrier of 2hrs has been pierced. If old Kipchoge did it, albeit with special pacers, etc., there's no reason that a much younger Kiptum who might still be peaking can't. This kelvin kiptum guys is absolutely crazy. Kipchoge has trained his whole life and brought track experience for like 10 years but this dude runs for a couple years tops seriously and now has the ability to the fastest ever at the age of 23? 13 minute 5k split in a marathon is absolutely ridiculous and sub 1 for a close? I thought kipchoge's goat status was cemented but if this guy can do anywhere near the stuff hes doing now, hes going to be the goat easy. However I feel like this is too good to be true. 23 yrs old only? Only 1 man ever has come close to a performance that kelvin has just done? Obviously very suspicious, and in my experience, if it seems too good, it probably is. Either doping or going to be the goat in a few years.

Kipchoge's world marathon record is breakable. That seems impossible but it's true. Kiptum is only 22 years old. Sifan Hassan is going to run a fast marathon time too. For sure once she trains mainly for the marathon she can run around 2 hours, 15 minutes.

Thanks for this analysis. It looks like Kiptum could beat Kipchoge head to head at this point on a flat course, because of his second half. I think today showed that not only Kiptum but also Hassan could break the world records. Hassan made some of the best marathoners in the world look like comparative amateurs...in her first marathon, without proper training, and going into the race with an injury.
