I was questioning why he wasn’t sprinting at the end then I realised mans was basically sprinting the whole time
The last kilometre was done at a 4:12 mile pace. That's where he gained those extra 10 sec. Otherwise they were on target for 1:59:50
@SANKU I've never walked 42 km before 💀
@@ohNelly over 8 times the length of a 5k lol. But at sprinting speed!
SANKU he was sprinting the entire marathon though
@@srinitaaigaura You are right! And he actually slowed down in last 200m during celebrating, if clock and side panel showing distance to go are accurate, he finished last 200 around 32-33 seconds.
Everyone: "Do you prefer sprinting or long distance running?"

Distance running by far more discipline and more drama in competition.

Exactly, when he finished he wasnt out of breath, he really is superhuman.
That’s the amazing thing about marathon runners - their recovery time is in the single digits of seconds, so where any normal runner would be lying on the floor dying as their heart slowly tried to reoxygenate their muscles people like kipchoge will just be walking around as if nothing happened.
True but he is not a human.
So still a human is limited
My man looks like he about to run another marathon right after that. Unbelievable. Congratulations
He knew he's gonna break the world record and that gave him such incredible strength.
He could run 200km with the half speed
He runs 5 marathons a week. He probably could just hop into another race right now

“Only the disciplined ones are free in life. If you are undisciplined, you are a slave to your moods” -Kipchoge
Alex i mean, only apply that for your professional career, which is 1/3 of your 24 hour day. Beside that, please enjoy yourself, life is short so no problem being a slave to your mood here and there.
@@teddanville6996 I disagree. Apply discipline to every part of your life. Make every action you take the best it can be for yourself, your love ones, and your purpose for the world
This is the paradox of life. You will suffer without a doubt. But suffering only exists because of joy. You can choose to feel easy joy right now and suffer later. Or you can suffer right now and earn your joy. This dude is great because in order to achieve this result he suffered everyday pushing himself past the pain.

You don’t realize how fast this is until you actually try to run at that pace
I think the thing is only runners have an intuition about per km pace. If we say his pace is 17s per 100m then more people would understand bc most people have at least run 100m at some point.
His stride definitely helps, still ridiculous endurance to hold it for 2 hours without any breaks
😂😂😂😂
120 mins / 26.2 miles = 4.5 mins / mile or so (4 mins 30 secs)...
The current world record for one mile is 3:43.13, set by Hicham El Guerrouj of Morocco in 1999.
New runners avg 12 to 15 min per mile.
In shape runners 9 to 10 mins.
Decent runners 7 mins.
Excellent runners 6 mins.
Top tier 5 mins 20 or so.
As someone who’s had to run just a few kilometres at a 13.4kmph pace to join the military, I’m astounded this is even possible. Regard myself as being pretty fit - had to take a breather having done so, nevermind run a marathon.

@@fixfact1 This was not an actual race - more like a test to see whether a marathon can be done sub 2hrs. So the guys cheering him on are pacers and they would come in at various points of the race to keep his pace steady.
There were like 41 pace makers to ensure that the pace was strong the entire marathon.
Usually in a race by the 30 Km mark the top racers would be doing it solo or in a small pack and most would fall back due to exhaustion when approaching 40 Km.
