Surely after mispronouncing the first name, jeez even the second, the fact they sounded soooooo frikin unlike any name ever youd stop to take stock of what was going on
She messed up BECAUSE the cards used the phonetic spelling. IPA spelling is almost unreadable if you don't know how.
@@Jordan117then why did they let her speak then?
@@ghostlyemperor4557 You know why.
@@williamrockwell9705 made the News as it was the black women being intentionally disrespectful & Prejudice to the Jewish Children's names. That is the only reason you are hearing about this.
Unless things have changed, usually it’s the graduate themselves who write the phonetic way of saying it. How could so many graduates write the phonetic pronunciation of their own name so unrecognizable? And Thomas is literally in the name of the school.

Y’all are mistaking PHONETICS with PHONICS. Phonics is what we learned to use how to read in second grade. PHONETICS is the spelling showing how to pronounce each syllable in a word.
Not buying the "written phonetically" excuse. Somebody can't read. (Why do you even need to write Thomas or Elizabeth or Molly phonetically?)
she was purposely trying to make the names sound African.
the best part is that the school name is Thomas Jefferson University, and she can't even pronounce Thomas right!
Was the announcer a US citizen?
@@Joe-sg9ll Lunchtime rowdies I heard. Not sure what that is.
Valerie clary muronda is the name
Maeve, we see you! Congratulations! Form Grandma J.'s friend.
I love that the students that they showed were able to laugh about it. I would have too but I understand if others were pissed. I worked hard and paid all this money. The least you can do is pronounce my name right!!! 🥴
the students were mature enough to just go along with it xD
I think someone should have rehearsed with her. Made sure she understood why the cards were spelled that way.
This is what happens when someone was taught to read on Common Core principles.
The speaker was fortunate by not having her face showing in video.
The phonetic spelling on the cards is the explanation given, but it doesn’t make sense. If she’d read the actual phonetic spelling, it would’ve been fine. She seemed to be guessing, as if she wasn’t familiar with English at all. So why on Earth did they get her to read out the names?
The normal ones were on the top. The phonetic spellings were on the bottom of the cards
I don't want to hear back talk from you BolockKay. JayQuellin is perfectly able to pronounce these names
"You done messed up, Ay Ay Ron!"
Why did they have to provide phonetic spelling for common English names? If you speak english with any fluency you should have heard all these names.
If I was doing it and I even screwed up one name I'd have been devastated. How does this person even function? It's sounds like she has no idea she's doing it. What goes on inside her brain? Did she once think: "Oh my god, I'm butchering all these names in front of their parents and everybody?" Does she know what the word "embarrassed" means?
If this same woman can correctly pronounce "Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch"...
Why did they keep going on!?!?!?
Why couldn't there be an Aaron...A A ron 😅😂
I am convinced someone pranked the announcer and the names on her paper had minimum the wrong spacing.
I swear she was high, absolutely no way you could mispronounce so many common simple names. Who picked herto read off those names??
Bruh get an English announcer next time. 😂
Plane tickets to the U.K. are quite expensive.
@@MickeyMishra oops I should have been more clear.. American English.
But since you didn't comprehend what I meant, maybe you need a plane ticket to the U.K. so you can get a translator. 🤡
It is clearly she is functionally illiterate. THAT is the thing I don't understand... how did nobody know this? And if she hid her illiteracy that well to get to this point, how did she not realize she would have to fess up before the ceremony? I mean, she must have known she would not be able to read the names, so how did she think she would get away with it?
But HOW did she get the names so wrong??
Why did she even volunteer to do it? How on earth was she given that role?
I feel bad for Thomas. People are going to call him “Tom Moo May” for the rest of his life.
She got BROSTOSKI BUT NOT ELIZABETH😂😂😂😂😂😂
Who's idea was it to pronounce the graduates' names in a messed up way intentionally? I smell a publicity stunt for viral video
There’s no way that Molly is phonetically spelt as something completely different
They should change their name to Tamoomie Jeefaaarsoon Université
I didn’t know you could drop out of kindergarten and get a job at a college
Just get someone that can read then? What the hell is so hard about getting someone that can read?
i thought the job market was miserable these days, turns out all you have to do is not be able to read and you can get hired.
This made the News as it was the black women being intentionally disrespectful & Prejudice to the Jewish Children.
For four years our high school principal mispronounced my last name. Graduation day he got it right but pronounced my middle name wrong. Yet I lived.
Ugh, this school trains you to go work in the medical field?
So this is where the medical staff and doctors come from that work at the VA.
This is just to announce their brand new School of Languages an Communication...
