Q) Why would you make a video of you just opening boxes?
A) Because the video I did in 2012 got over 800,000 views, apparently people enjoy watching videos like this even if it's only to troll me for making it.
Q) Are you rich? You have so many expensive things!
A) Unfortunately no, I would like to be rich one day so I could give my family everything they deserve. The problem is many people use AdBlockers when watching videos on CZcams and that severely hurts the amount of money I make per video so each month money gets tighter and tigher but as long as I'm making enough to survive I will keep on trying. The reason I have so many cool gadgets is because companies and people send them to me for review because they love the content I produce and I also buy some of the stuff on my own to invest in the channel to make better content and that money comes from you guys that donate and the ad revenue from the people that don't use AdBlockers.

I can't speak for him. But in my case most non-camcorders (DSLR's, Bridges, compacts you name it) restrict the video length to 30minutes or less. I discovered this the hard way when my own bridge camera doesn't let me record in 1080p for more than 8 minutes. It may be that using a camcorder avoids this issue and is just easier to use. Personally, I do a fair amount of photography so I will be replacing my bridge camera when it breaks with a DSLR, especially since the DSLR body in particular that I was looking at is the same price as the new model of my bridge. I realise that then I need to pay for the lense, but for me I use my camera so much that it is worth it. Especially to avoid the terrible quality.
For me, it doesn't make sense to have a separate camcorder, but for many youtubers it does. It really depends on the person:D Sorry I tend to ramble on way too much.
I had actually turned off my adblockers on CZcams. It's very worth it, people! You only sacrifice a few seconds to get to the video, and by doing so, you help someone make a living, without even having to give them any of your own money. If you're really that against giving someone money when you're not getting any, you can always find a way to start posting your own videos.

To be honest, I kinda got bored by a lot of channels lately, because I feel like they don't know what to do anymore. Or they have lost their "lightness" and lost the bonding with the viewers like they had in the early days of the channel.
But you Jerry and your channel is always a joy to watch. Things haven't been easy for you, but you are a great guy and your down-to-earth, honest style makes me feel way more connected to you and I love coming back to your videos. And while I know, that you have to make money out and with your videos, the fun and craziness always seem to come first - and presenting products doesn't look like huge, staged promo events.
