  • I've finally come to the actual realization that if I don't lose weight I won't be around to see my son grow up and I won't be the active father he needs. As a result my wife is joining me on a weight loss journey with guidance from John Glaude (aka. Obese to Beast) who successfully went from 380lb to 180lb in 2 years and competed in body building. He knows exactly what it's like to be on both sides of obesity and has a compatible personality which has already made us very successful. Here's to 1 year and 100lb and keeping it off for the rest of my life!

    ▼ Questions & Answers ▼
    Q) You've said you were going to lose weight before and you always fail, why should we trust you this time?
    A) First off you shouldn't need to trust but rather encourage me. Second off this time I have my wife on board doing the same thing and we have a coach that has done what we want to do and is willing to help us get there over the long term.
    Q) What is different from past diets you've been on?
    A) This isn't a change in diet but rather a requirement to be more aware of what I'm eating with a cap on how much I can consume (calories). This way I still make all the decisions on what I eat and learn how to make good decisions automatically instead of feeling forced.
    Q) Why is Obese to Beast helping you, what does he get out of it?
    A) The truth is John Glaude is one of the nicest people I've ever met and he has a mission to help people get healthy and that is it's own rewards. He even said I didn't even need to tell anyone he was helping me and that he just wanted to help me and my wife out and our victory was his reward. Seriously, how many people do you know that are that selfless and get joy from helping other people?'
    Q) I subscribed for technology, would you stop posting this crap?
    A) No, this channel has always been about my life which revolves heavily around technology and this weight loss journey is going to be a big part of my life and the technology that aides me in achieving my goals will also be a big part of it. Just chill out, simmer down and enjoy the ride.
    Q) Why don't you just die you fat disgusting pile of shit?
    A) Why don't your parents know that you're up past your bed time?

Ever notice how the majority of mean comments always come from a fake account that was just created with no followers or an account that only has game-play footage posted but no footage of the actual person? I'm starting to think that trolls are scared, self conscious people themselves that only troll to some how feel better about themselves? Just an observation I made clicking on a few profiles from bad comments. And the few channels where they do show themselves they usually only make videos ripping on other people. I'm guessing they just want attention good, bad or otherwise. The sad thing is one of the channels I found the guy actually had a young daughter and was tolling channels destroying people, what kind of example is that to set for your own daughter? Makes me sad.

It's really damn hard to do. It's so easy to fall out of it especially when suffering from depression. Hopefully John Glaude can get him to develop the base habits necessary for success. That's one of the keys. If something like a morning walk for example can be drilled into him so much that it because routine and he does it without even thinking about it then he's on the right track. But who knows, Maybe John has even better methods.

I lost my mom this year. She barely made it to the age of 50. She always set too high of standards when she decided to lose weight; instead of aiming for a viable lifestyle. It just takes time to lose excess weight. I couldn't get her to change the way she thought of food. She needed a therapist/psychiatrist.
Please, bro, don't skip meals, as she would try. It will have the opposite effect, than intended, on your metabolism. But, when I tried explaining to her some of the bio-mechanisms, it seemed counterintuitive and she had difficulty understanding how skipping means could be working against her.
If I may, I seriously suggest working with a doctor that is specifically versed in nutrition to intelligently guide you and to help keep you focused and accountable, in addition to this yt thing.
I believe in you, since you have worked professionally, at a pretty high level, which informs me that you must have the capacity to change the way you frame things in your mind, not to mention the dedication it requires to get where you have been.
    Good luck, bro.

Do it, bud! I'm on the same boat and what I've learned is that you need to constantly remind yourself of who you want to be and you need to change your surroundings. My self control is non-existent so I need to set myself up for success by keeping the kitchen free of unhealthy foods so the only choice I have are healthier options. That's not for everyone but it's what works for ME and that's what everyone needs to keep in mind. It's not about a popular diet or piece of advice as much as what will actually get YOU results. In the end, remember it's okay to fail but just make damn sure you learn from it. Cheering you on as well as anyone on the same journey! Fight for it.

I piled on the pounds, I started to lose the weight by changing my diet completely. Basically I changed the bad things to good thing like a baked potato instead of fries and if I cook a spaghetti bolognaise I cut out a quarter of the meat and use vegetables as a filler. its tough when you like your food but in a month I lost 23 pounds I've gone from 18 stone 9 lbs(English 261lbs US) to 17 stone (English that's 238 in US). keep it up you'll feel great once the weight starts coming off. even if you cant get to the gym everyday weight loss is lifestyle choices not hours in the gym

My brother went down from about 340 to 290 over the last year and I basically did the same thing with him, get him up for some simple basic exercise for 30 mins or so and keeping track of his portion control/calories. You're right it's a lifestyle change.
    Good job.

Hey Jerry, I have been going through the same thing. I was 265Lbs in May, and I have been doing the lifestyle change that you are doing, and it is amazing how you can change your thought process on food when you don't limit WHAT you can eat. I still get to enjoy some of the foods I love, but all in moderation. Now I work on getting on my bike and go riding. I am now down to 225Lbs. Also on a side note. I recently found at 34 years old am on the spectrum, on the high side, but it has still resulted in plenty of developmental issues. Food therapy being one of the issues, but with ADD and being on Adderal now has helped a lot. You and your wife are strong people...it takes that to raise your son, but you need to remember that you also need to take care of yourself too...and now you are doing that.

I have been on the "diet/gain" rollercoaster for 30 years (I am 49). I have done exactly what you did as far as cutting calories by 500/day. So far I am down 15 lbs in 18 days. I am hoping to get my wife on board as well. I am an "over the road" truck driver. I have not been home since Oct. 1st. I am hoping when I get home on Friday, My wife will be impressed enough to do this with me. I am going to show her this video as well! keep up.the GREAT WORK. We can do this!!!!

Good for you Jerry. You are so right about everything, and the smartest thing you could have done was share it with all of us. They say when you want to quit smoking, tell everyone you know. It adds the accountability that is so necessary for most of us. Also, you're so right about the "diet" thing. This has to last for the rest of your life, so it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change. And of course, weight loss is calories in calories out, whatever anybody says. The only problem there is at some point I think you should be looking at how to achieve a balanced diet. If you're taking in 1,930 calories a day, but it's only pizza and chili fries, it's not going to be great in the long run. You'll lose weight, but won't be healthy. I know that's an extreme example, but you know what I mean.

Dude go for it. I've been watching you all this time. Don't let the fact that the first time you tried to lose weight didn't work out for whatever reason discourage you. The road to success is laid with failed attempts. Just an idea, if you are looking for a way to get active: I notice in some of your videos you mention that you used to play airsoft. Maybe you should try airsoft or paintball again and record it with gopro. Levelcap used to make airsoft videos and I'm sure there's a lot of potential there for views.

I've had ADD since I was a child and always took meds for it, I consumed nearly 5,000 calories per day but I gained no weight. Recently I decided to stop taking the meds due to negative side effects and I went from 210 pounds to 280 pounds in a matter of a few months. Hey Jerry, if you're looking for something to replace soda consider getting a SodaStream and using it to make sparkling (fizzy) water. It's a simple device containing a gas cylinder that lets you pump it into a bottle of water. It comes with sugary soda syrups that you're meant to mix with the water to make your own soda, but just throw those syrups out and use it to make sparkling water. It's helped me cut down on my soda intake and the bubbles make the water much more refreshing than plain water. Good luck on the journey!
