I am Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video, I will tell you what happened on the seven-hundred-thirtieth day of the war.
    Day 730: Feb 23
Today, there are a lot of interesting news.
First of all, the Russian Armed Forces suffered a strategically significant loss of an A-fifty-U Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft. This is already the second A-fifty aircraft that Russians lost just over the last two months. For context, the radar on this aircraft helps Russians detect virtually any object within a hundred-kilometer radius, and Russians had only a handful of such game-changing pieces of technology that allow them to assert local air superiority. Today, the number of A-fifty aircraft in the Russian arsenal has been reduced to seven, and with the current rate of losses, Russians will completely run out of them in just half a year. What makes the situation even worse is that Russians basically cannot produce new A-fifty aircraft due to sanctions.
The incident happened near the Azov Sea, which is quite interesting because the last A-fifty was shot down here as well. If you still remember, Ukrainian forces significantly depleted Russian detection and surveillance capabilities in Crimea by conducting an extensive series of strikes in January, which resulted in the destruction of multiple radar stations. In order to compensate for the lack of radars, Russians started to deploy A-fifty to close the sky, however, the aircraft got within Patriot air defense system range and was promptly intercepted.
This time, the Russian aircraft was intercepted more than two hundred fifty kilometers away from the front line, which is outside the one hundred-fifty-kilometer range of Patriot systems. This raised a lot of questions and speculations regarding the mysterious interception.
Russian sources reported that at the moment of the incident, the Russian air defense system was busy intercepting two missiles that Ukrainians launched from the Dnipro area. Due to the fact that the trajectories of the missiles and the A-fifty aircraft were close, the Russian air defense operators reportedly got confused, thought the A-fifty aircraft was also a missile, and shot it down. The proponents of this version of events claim that the Russian air defense has had many such instances in the past. The critics of this theory claim that judging by the speed and size of the massive A-fifty aircraft, it is impossible to confuse it with the missile, especially given that this aircraft is basically a flying radar that gives information to the air defense operators. Moreover, the aircraft had just taken off and was steadily gaining speed and altitude, and it was also moving away from Russia, not toward it. The critics also said that they do not believe that all six aircraft in the last two months were lost due to friendly fire and noted that throughout this two-year war, seventy-five percent of all Russian aircraft losses were reported as friendly fire accidents. The critics speculated that the aircraft was shot down by the sabotage groups with man-portable air defense systems that were operating on the territory of the Russian Federation.
Ukrainian sources reported that the A-fifty aircraft's interception resulted from a successful operation by the Ukrainian Air Force and Special Forces. The Spokesman for the Ukrainian Main Intelligence Directorate reported that Ukrainians used modified S-two-hundred air defense systems to identify and destroy the target. Even though the S-two-hundred missile was developed in the Soviet Union, Ukrainians have reportedly modernized them to the point where the only common thing between them and their old counterparts is the carcass.
Regardless of which version is correct, the destruction of the scarce A-fifty aircraft is expected to bring temporary relief from bombardments on the front. As A-fifty can track up to sixty targets simultaneously, it provided excellent cover for the Russian fighter-bombers from the possible retaliation from the Ukrainian air defense. Russian forces established and enjoyed this local air superiority the most in the Avdiivka direction, where they have been dropping up to sixty bombs per day during the peak heat of the Battle for Avdiivka.
According to both Ukrainian and Russian sources, even though the use of bombs significantly decreased after Russians lost five fighter-bombers, the bombardments did not cease completely. As mentioned previously, the next main Ukrainian defense line is north of the small river, which made it...

Ukraine should be provided with an enough fighter aircraft to form airforce, such as F-16s and longer-range precision munitions, including ATACMS (more of them, and the longest-range versions should be sent to them), and the russian military facilities inside of russian territory should be considered legitimate targets. It is worth noting that support for military aid to Ukraine in America is over 80% and increasing. This is because Americans understand that not only is aiding Ukraine the morally right thing to do, it is the practical thing to do also. America has spent something like approximately 6% of our military budget so far to aid Ukraine. However,,, more than half of the russian army has been destroyed. This is a tremendous bargain by any measure! In addition, when russia is defeated in this war, their barbaric ideology of imperialism will also be defeated, making Europe a much more peaceful and stable place for decades - as well as preventing a new arms race in the region. That is why billions of dollars spent today to aid Ukraine saves trillions of dollars tomorrow.. The vast majority of Americans understand this fact. Americans also want Ukrainian military and civilian casualties minimized. This is why Americans are correct to support providing military aid to Ukraine.
Please write to your elected representatives to request this military aid. If you are an American citizen, please consider writing to President Biden and your other elected representatives, and demand Ukraine be given the above weapons - in war-winning quantities, and promptly. The sooner America provides Ukraine the weapons it requires to liberate all of its territory, the sooner this war will be done;, and with fewer Ukrainian casualties. Letters can be submitted electronically via the Whitehouse website.. One can also conduct a google search for ones' elected representatives - many of which have similar websites. One may simply write and submit a letter electronically to make one's desire known.

Yes they have been striking radars and SAM sites in the occupied lands for months now, making it easier for follow up striked to go through, especially now with additional GLSDB.
Russia enjoyed tons of advantages from the start, a lot of them have been reversed and now Ukraine has some tech advantages. At the start russian air force was much stronger and naval launched cruise missiles were a problem. But not long till the Moskva was sunk and about a dozen more (less than a dozen but still) since then. Also it is not just that they lose the planes.. they lose the pilots! Those are much more valuable than the planes, they take years and lots of money to train and even then you only have rookies. Experience and additional training is what makes a great pilot and only great pilots make great planes actually great. The russian economy took a hard hit, even if the trolls want to tell their lies, they can't deny the insane currency devaluation while having insane intrest rates. HIMARS countered the artillery by blowing up ammo dumps and ofcourse over the last months HIMARS and western artillery with range and precision advantage have been hunting russian artillery like crazy. They are drafting foreginers like crazy to cause the massive attrition and without american support this is a problem.. when it should not be. Europe has insane production capabilities, but european governments have so far denied to sign contracts with their own arms industry to just ramp up shell production.. or whatever ammo or missilie production. Rheinmetall and co have been saying from the start they can easily do it, but they need signed contracts and allocated money for it. That is a completely reasonable demand on their part. No one works for free and no one invests millions with the possibility of doing it for nothing. While europe has ramped up support a bit.. it has not replaced what the americans were doing so far and they easily could if they wanted too. 0.1% of every european states GDP would be a ton of money, many many billion euros. That would fund the production needed and it is not even much of an investment on their parts. Americans are not the only ones ashamed of their governments actions these days. Still I will never give up on supporting Ukraine.
      Putin must be defeated.

It was an S-200. It has a range of 300km. There is a video of Russia launching likely an S-300 but the video shows a second explosion. This was likely the S-300 attempting to shoot down the S-200 and failing. S-200 are designed to shoot down the large strategic bombers from the Cold War. Their radar and targeting systems would struggle to even detect a smaller fighter jet, but against an A-50 they should be pretty effective. They likely had a patrician near the air base informing the Ukrainians that the aircraft was taking off and as soon as they picked it up on their radar system they fired. The S-200 goes at Mach 4. They detected the S-200 and started deploying chaff and flares. They likely also contact the ground based air defenses to notify them of the incoming S-200.
This was not operatives inside Russia with MANPADs or a friendly fire situation. This was Ukraine targeting air defenses in the area and moving an S-200 battery closer to the frontlines based on good intelligence. This is how they took out the last A-50. They knew its flight path, hit a bunch of air defenses in the area, and moved a Patriot battery to near the frontline. They also did something similar to take out the cargo aircraft used to supply missiles to forward bases. It is an effective strategy that has been working quite well and it is hard to prevent because they likely moved in the battery only a few hours before they fired and left shortly after.

Because of the weight limitations of fighter bomber jets, they cannot carry a very heavy long range radar. Therefore AEW&C aircafts equiped with these heavy radars will send information to the fighter jets whenever it detects an enemy aircraft, missile, vehicle or ship.
The downing of these aircraft seems like a shaping operation for the F-16s that will enter combat possibly later in the year, reducing the chances for Ukrainian jets to be detected, intercepted and shot down.

Also, here’s my suggestion to solve Ukraine’s funding problems for the foreseeable future: *_Tap into the $300 Billion or so of Russian funds that were frozen at the start of the war._* There NEEDS to be tangible consequences for a nation like Russia trying to overtake another nation by brute force, and no blow hurts like one through the wallet. And it doesn’t have to be the full 300 in one go… Let’s say, Ukraine was drip-feed that money once a month, every month, for the next 5 years… That would be $5 billion a month for the next 5 years, or 60 billion a year… That would be “Small” enough of a donation that it shouldn’t shake things up too much immediately, and would also slowly pressure Russia into ending the war before the entire fund was drained, but it WOULD be large enough in both short and long term to provide Ukraine’s needs without The US or other EU/NATO nations needing to tap into their money for a solid while… In fact, it would provide a steady stream of those billions to them over those 5 years from Ukraine spending them on the military hardware they need (Which is what’s alrwsdy been going on with the aid they’ve received anyway), which would hopefully alleviate some of the global financial woes going on right now.

This is brilliant comment. People from EU, USA, UK: Contact your representatives. Make this happen! Think about this further: Russia's plan is to make the West tired of the war. However, if the Russia knew that Ukraine is going to be well funded, say next 5 years, they might start to think that they have now 'actually killed all the nazis in Ukraine and they can go home'.

Range is not everything. America would usually task a figher jet to intercept anything flying, they don't really need to depend on SAM launchers, that is why they have not improved them in a while. And yet the missiles from a Patriot is so much more capable and deadly than anything russia launches. The quality always shines through when you compare western with russian. And ofcourse the western countries all have access to the Meteorite Air to air missile. That one is terryfiing in how good and accurate it is. When F16 finnaly arrive.. the russians will be even more unable to use their gliding bombs than they are now with their planes dropping like flies from the Patriots.
