    Great effort, you're right in that nobody likes doing it, just seeing the numbers at the end. I think everyone should have the goal of just improving, not setting a golden target. You may find your 360w 20 minute target is nothing in 2 years time. Keep up the good work and keep those race vids coming, makes me wish I was young again, was never any good, but had lots of fun.

      The number is definitely what scares most people off doing an FTP test… as well as the pain of course 😂 yep totally agree always trying to improve is number 1, I do like setting small goals along the way to help with motivation 👌

    Strong noodles mate, fair amount of berries too :) A full 20min FTP is brutal but love your same race style approach ...just pin it and hold on! Ive only managed a 5 min FTP but I'm seeing some improvements ....means I can get to the cake shop quicker! Strong numbers GC, well done

    Great effort! Sometimes a hard start actually feels better but you didn't settle down fast enough. From the initial surge of power you should be gradually backing off to around your current FTP within maybe 1 minute then sit at your FTP for the first 10 minutes unless you are feeling particularly strong but you always have to remember it gets exponentially harder! I've just done my best ever test, not in terms of power because I've lost 5kg but I didn't surge at the start OR the end, well maybe 20 watts higher for the last minute or so, and I stayed seated the whole time which is a first for me! Oh and I was also fatigued and completely fasted because I wanted to see what my numbers were when fatigued and depleted for a more accurate day to day number.

      Wow doing it faster and fatigued must of been horrible… I on the other hand was probably the freshest I have ever been 😂
      Yeah I definitely need to learn to settle down and trust the power I can hold, I always feel like I need to get ahead with a strong start but then end up fading! One day I will get it right

    Oh the deep joy of an ftp test 😂 Possibly the worst and most degrading thing you can do on a bike…..next to doing a cx race!!

    That’s insane power to weight that mate fair play!! Would be very intrigued to see how u get on doing a ramp test as a comparison though, some say it doesn’t favour the lighter rider but I think you would be the perfect person to test this theory out 😅 🙏🏼

    Fair play doing that and putting it up onto the channel. Look like hell. Only.done one once, a near death experience that won't be repeated haha 😂

    Haven't done and FTP test in a couple years. I was thinking about doing one tomorrow and just about had myself talked out of it... until I watched this and now I feel guilty wussing out. I'll probably curse your name early tomorrow morning!

    I can relate to the partner not caring about numbers or training.
    I've had my girlfriend come in to ask me the most normal, every day sort of questions, like, getting shopping or dinner, while I'm mid-Zwift race or doing VO2 intervals on the turbo, gasping for the tiniest bit of air about to fall off.
    She either doesn't get it or doesn't care, I'm not sure which 😂

      My favourite is when you are on the limit and they ask what you fancy for dinner… at that moment I couldn’t care, absolutely anything 😂

      Will hopefully bump into you at a race and those numbers are only good if I can do it in an aero position or go fast downhill if racing off-road (which I’m terrible at both) 😅

    Have never done an FTP test and most likely never will. If it isn't fun, I don't do it.

      It is fun. Seeing your improvement over time is super satisfying. Then again, I guess it’s all personal.

    ever tried a ramp test? same result?
    this is torture too: from one second to the next, you go from "well that's pretty easy" to "omg i'm gonna die"

      In the past I have tried the ramp test but I a lot of the efforts I will be doing are sustained/under overs etc so I think the 20 min test replicates that much better 👌

      @@GiorgioCoppolaCycling i've never tried the 20min, but will do. maybe it's easier because you can have a goal, you target a FTP and you know you have to stick to target/0.95 and see if you can hang on. the ramp might be a bit more versatile depending on your form of the day.

      @@GiorgioCoppolaCycling @easyoli no experienced cyclist should do a ramp test. It's good for some aprox numbers but soon enough you'll have an idea what you should aim for over 20 mins and all further tests should be over 20 mins. Ramp tests are really inaccurate. Video idea for you Giorgi boy, ramp test v 20 min test. 👌 All the best with your training camp!

    Woah, that is some good power! How come you were not racing in "expert" category with 5.0 W/kg?! If that's not "expert" then what is it?! haha (not familiar with the categories in the UK sorry haha)

      😂 mtb requires downhill skills as well which mine aren’t good enough… but the categories in the uk go sport, expert, elite and I am currently expert and last year was my first full season 👌 I’m tempted to try and earn my elite licence this year 🤔
