Yes please. No more switching out my bike to ride outdoors👍
standalone frame would be just awesome. i was thinking about not having to go back and forth through the setup process with my regular road bike every time, and just have a cheap, non carbon frame bike attached permanently to the wahoo kickr.
couple of things that I see that need to be addressed in their next model: 1 need to add a horizontal stabilizer to the front fork. 2. need to unify recharging into a single port (not having 2 separate independent charging ports for the handlebars). 3. 420mm wide handlebars are going to be too wide for most female or smaller stature riders. 4. Need to add a variable crank arm length.
Regarding point 1; that was my initial thought too, but it seems to be pretty stabile.
What is the crank lenght on this thing?
Crank is 170mm
Need to add in a chain protector. Function over form!
Some other fun things they could do is put in an LED light underneath that matches your zones.Coz...it's a game!
Could actually put in some dyson like fans into the frame so you don't even need external fans.
Doesn't need a 'key'...just handles on each adjustment point.
Should be a protection screen above the handlebar platform so you can touch underneath from the sides but it stops sweat falling onto these devices. Heck make it an additional cost add on but that'd be beneficial for many.
Why not have the bottle holder neat the platform so it's easier to access.
I will defos be buying
I think Zwift is missing an opportunity here by delaying the launch of the frame-only version until later in (Northern Hemisphere) autumn. Existing smart trainer owners, such as myself, would be more likely to want an indoor specific bike for the times we can't go out during the summer (short ride over lunch, too hot, too stormy, etc.).
Nah. The early adopter/richy riches will buy it immediately
Super interesting video
Any news about virtual shifting on wahoo V 4 and others?
We need this for the Zwift hub.
Looks like a good setup and idea. Curious to see upcoming progress in the plataform and frame compatibility with another wahoo smart trainers. Thanks for sharing the review and thoughts.
You’re welcome 🙏🏼
Looks very interesting and well designed... Will need more user/customer info to see how good it really is.
Awesome dedicated product
Yes indeed
I feel like they should have just went with a gates belt drive
Interesting idea. Would have required a split frame which would have added significant additional complexity and cost.
A chain is obviously problematic because of the dirt and west and noise. However they were limited by needing to keep the frame compatible with existing trainers I suspect, as well as engineering down to an affordable price point. Zwift hardware isn’t the best - it’s the cheapest and most idiot proof.
@@oceanzmatyou don't need a split frame at all, just omit the seatstays from the bike, as they're completely redundant anyway. (Probably save production cost too with 2 less tubes to cut/mitre/weld.)
@@XX-is7ps compatibility isn't really a factor, since they use their own cog, chainring, tensioner, and chain. The only interface that is shared is the spline on the trainer, but they already have belt drive cogs that fit that.
I would like the handlebars and controllers to upgrade my Stages SB20
I am over 6ft 6 inches tall. I hope Zwift will come out with a larger frame or a longer seat post and a longer stem post to allow us taller riders to enjoy the bike.
same. Which bike to ride? hard to find big bikes.
I’m interested depending on price of bike-only option. Already have the wahoo core.
Great video, as always. Why aren't we talking about compatibility with TCX Neo 2T? I understand Zwift's partnership with Wahoo. But, certainly this should work with a Tacx (and others) also.
Would buy a frame only version for my existing Zwift Hub; I guess they'll release it later on.
Can you make video about computers bike and what is the best one under 400$.
Thanks
I like the price and one bluetooth connection for everything(controls, not Kickr)
I would love to buy this but i have one problem. Me personally i sweat balls like crazy while indoorcycling and the handles having electronics might cause problems :(
How aggressive is the geometry? For example, endurance road frame vs. a competitive aero road frame?
I would also like to know this
Current trainer is on way out this could be an option
Bit of a mistake not making it Kickr climb compatible especially as it's integrated with the Kickr trainer ecosystem. The front foot could do with a shoe of some kind to spread the load a bit. As it is it'll sink into any mat inc the Kickr mat. That, and as Ray has mentioned using buttons instead of shifters is a bit naff. As a v1 attempt it's not bad. Needs work.
Looks cool but what if you need to replace the chain after awhile? It is a Zwift specific chain? Also can it be mounted on a rocker plate? Thanks in advance.
The chain stuff is described here ;-) czcams.com/video/YTLXSerjJUs/video.html
Shane also mentions that a rocker plate should work. Why not, from this perspective the Zwift Ride doesn't really differ from a real bike...
@@AllesTinnef Thank you!
@@AllesTinnef It's significantly heavier than a real bike, so it would need a low center of gravity for rocker application.
@@LVQ-so5th A Kickr Bike weights 42kg and works smoothly with rocker plates. The Swift Ride weights 35,4kg including the Kickr Core. So it's not a big deal. But yeah, you're the expert.
@@AllesTinnef What an asshole. I was responding to "the Zwift Ride doesn't really differ from a real bike..." I think the weigh difference is pretty big.
i want and think it opens up opportunity for those that are not ready to dop 3times as much for a smart bike. maybe others will follow suit buy building dedicated frames for smart trainer.
yes, frame only. have the zwift trainer already
I already have the Hub so I will wait for the frame to be offered separately.
What about compatibility with wahoo climb?
I wonder why they did not go for a belt (vs. chain) here since it's specific for virtual shifting. What are the benefits of the chain here?
More noisy
will it compatible with mywhoosh / indievelo?
Regarding using the Zwift Ride sometimes without Zwift -- anyone know how many RESISTANCE mode levels you set (should be same as Wahoo Kicker Core since same device)? They show 0-100% but by what increments? Someone at Wahoo told me 5% increments so 20 levels, but I thought I saw a plus/minus 1% control in a Wahoo app example?
Will they make the Zwift bike compatible with the wahoo kickr move?. They probably could if they fitted a small wheel at the front of the Zwift bike
Depends on attachments zwift will come up with later this year. At minimum, you might need to lock it from moving unless they come up with a movable attachment.
why not belt drive instead of traditional chain ?
After getting hit by a car, that left the scene and me lying in the road with 2 fractures in my hip, I've looked at Zwift. I just having issues pulling the trigger. I don't like the video game controls, I've never been into video games. I may stick to the original idea of using my own bike. BUT I still need to add a pricy monitor & stand to make it seem less... stationary bike.
Can you use it on a different platform? Say Rouvy
Would get frame only for sure
So nice for low budget fans of indoor cycling 👍
Awesome! Do you know if the chainring is replaceable? Or will we need to buy a new frame whenever it wears out?
GPLlama discussed this in his review and will be looking into the "tapered" bottom bracket and the ability to replace the chainring.
@@jamesmckenzie3532 Ah yes true. I suppose I will have to keep patient for that video to drop!
Will it work in future on the Wahoo KickR V5? If so its mine!!
Zwift is saying they plan on make it compatible with more trainers. Hope to see that soon.
Would it be compatible with Suito? I have Suito Elite. Or the Kickr is worth buying because it is way better, even though I have the Suito?
It’s currently only compatible with the Kickr. No word if Suito is going to be compatible other than Zwift saying they have been working on future compatibility with other trainers.
I would buy it right away if it had a magnetic resistance and V-belt. I am afraid it still makes to much noise riding it next tot the room where my 3 years old son sleeps. Doubting to buy this or the Virtufit Etappe 2.0 (wich means dropping out of automatic resistance by Zwift).
Any thoughts on this?
I doubt it will be loud enough for him to hear it. Your fan - if you use one - will be much louder than the bike.
Can you change out the handlebars (such as for flat bar mountain bike bars)? I assume you would loose the control buttons.
You can change it
Shane Miller posted a Video ablut this 2 days ago
@@luismalowitz4343 Yes, saw that. It proves you can install similar drop bars (somebody at Zwift claimed you can't do it but obviously they are wrong or don't want to deal with it). Installing flat mountain bars is a slightly different wrinkle...don't see why it wouldn't fit in the stem clamp but the play controllers wouldn't easily fit/attach to a flat bar but seems like a Zwift Click could be used.
Nice set up at decent price. Will pick one up when my current smart trainer dies.
Used the wrong outlet once on a trainer. That was a quick way to kill it 🫢
Does the bike come with the one year zwift subscription?
No it does not come with one year subscription.
Hi, is it possible to have just the frame?
Zwift is planning to have a frame only version later this year. They haven’t provided a specific date or price on that yet.
Is it much better than the garmin tacx neo bike?
That is exactly my question as well. I am currently debating whether or not the additional cost for a tacx neo bike is worth it.
@@domoel tbh i doubt that spending more is necessary. I own the tacx neo bike. The bike is solid and quiet. The handlebar is too wide for my taste and the shifting buttons are crap. This new zwift setup seems to be plenty enough for much less money.
I will be very cautious. I bought the hub to get on gear and virtual shifting. The hub was noisy as hell. After a number of correspondence and videos they ask that I put the cassette back on and of course it was very quite. Their response was problem solved. So I paid for the clicker. No offer of a future discount or buying the hub back. Yes their response when I sent the video was that the noise it was making was normal. After weeks of adjusting everything and taking the hub off and putting it back on etc. I end up with what I had but with the clicker for virtual shifting. So with this once again they just get close with what is a great idea. All those higher end trainers they sell do not work so no hills and no rocker ability. That front part seems ridiculous. It might be stable for a smaller rider but for us bigger riders I think it is not going to be great and even if it is well my training pad is going to be crushed. so I will be riding down hill. As far as the crank goes why would they not have two or three crank length options. I do not want to train all winter on one length crank and then go back to another size when I am able to ride outside. Small difference I know but I am up in age and do not want to temp fate when changing my pedaling motion. Just seems strange that they would pick 170. Very interested but will wait until they adjust this bike so that it answers all the issues point out by others here.
can the saddle be changed?
Yes
would it work with a wahoo kicker move in the future?
Depends on attachments zwift will come up with later this year. At minimum, you will need to lock it from moving.
@@SmartBikeTrainers I’d like to use my kicker move with the zwift bike… let’s hope that they come up with an accessory for that. I don’t think it’s super complicated since wahoo already has an attachment for its climb to work with move. I hope they can come up with something similar for the bike.
Does the frame need protection from sweat?
I’ve had the frame for only a short period so far. I would say normal cleaning and wiping down the frame after each ride to prevent sweat from damaging any components will go along way in keeping it in good shape.
Can i use it with mywhoosh?
Virtual shifting only work in Zwift. However, you should be able to use ERG mode for structured workouts with MyWhoosh or any other platform.
Compatible with Saris MP1 Infinity Platform?
I don’t see why it wouldn’t fit. You just need to remove the front wheel riser.
I didn’t try it though as I had to let go of my MP1 to make space for other goodies.
@@SmartBikeTrainers Shane mention that it is compatible with rocker plates. My direto xr just packed up. Defintely going to buy the Zwift ride. I have two teenagers who would like to get into it, so we can just use this one setup, instead of multiple bikes. I'm sold.
Will it work with other platforms like Rouvy?
It works with other platforms in ERG mode to control workouts. But for sim riding, you will only have one gear since virtual gearing isn’t supported with other platforms.
@@SmartBikeTrainers that detail right there is the deal breaker for most people. When word gets around they're going to have to change that somehow or their sales are seriously going to suffer for it.
Do you know if Zwift will offer different crank lengths? Say 165mm?
I don’t see that happening with this frame without taking the whole cranks apart.
@@SmartBikeTrainers ...do you know what the crank length is on this bike?
@@ptf55170mm
@@SmartBikeTrainers ...thank you very much. Excellent video.
How about aerobars?
You can attach aerobars to the handlebars but there is no aero bar option
@@Thezuule1 That’s simply not right. There are several advantages to training in your real world riding position.
@@Thezuule1 he's referring to real world triathletes or time trialists. Obviously they want to train in their exact TT/triathlon position. It's not about being faster on zwift 🙈
Notice the JetBlack Trainer fan
👀
Is this quieter than wahoo kickr bike? I workout early when family are sleeping.
Yes, I find the kickr bike to be a little louder.
Thank you for the reply. Top fella 👈
Is this quieter than Kickr Bike Shift?
I would say very close. Very close. Your breathing and fan will be much louder 🙂
@@SmartBikeTrainers Thank you for your reply! Super helpful!
I would just use an old bike and keep it on the trainer
Can you just buy the bike if you have the trainer already?
Not currently. Zwift is planning on offering a frame only version later this fall.
This would be great if it worked with everything, that's a huge mistake. I don't want to be locked to Zwift which is getting way too expensive anyway. Also 100 euros for shipping is insane.
It's pretty heavy. The frame alone is like 18kg + add the weight of the Kickr Core
The Wattbike is 40kg and that is in a single unit. Easier to move two units than a heavier one.
what about the kicker climb….
Definitely not gonna work with this
Well spotted, I was wondering about the point load of the "rod" to the floor hadn't even thought of the climb! They could have made some ugly cranks with the option to change crank lengths too, that will be a big turn off for many being fixed to 170mm
Let me know when they support rouvy and other sims…
Until then…. I dont want to be locked into swift alone.
they could have made it belt driven than chain.
but..probably not sold to canada just like the cog/clicker...THANKS ZWIFT.
It will be available in Canada through Wahoo Fitness
@@SmartBikeTrainers ah, so WAHOO does plan on selling the hub/clicker someday on there website for Canada?
looks good. No need to have a bike.
That kills the Wahoo and Tacx bikes dead then as its soooooo much cheaper. Yes, I would get it
A Skoda is also cheaper than a Porsche. The two are not the same. This isn’t in the same class as a Kickr bike, not even close.
You can only use it on Zwift. So it's not for me. And definitely not for me as a KICKR Climb user.
Make it compatible with Rouvy. I’m tired of the cartoon world of Zwift
Beside being cheap i don't see where that could be the best or even a good setup.
indoor training has gotten out of control with these prices.
Crancks are 170 mm, this doesn' t fit everyone, adjustable would be better
That’s a limiter for sure. I ride 172.5 and honestly I can’t tell the difference 🤷🏻♂️
It’s only compatible with Zwift and it’s a no go for me. Bike industry should move away from all the properitary stuff they are releasing now. I looked at a new Canyon Endurace and discovered that replacing the stem with a 120 mm from 100mm would cost me 500 dollars extra.
The shifters apparently only work in Zwift. This is a one trick pony. No thanks.
Looks cheap ! But cheap is Zwift's hallmark.
I have been annoyed by Power-Ups for so long that i have started to hate Zwift deeply for ruining the platform. Since when is cycling a game ? No, it's NOT a game for me. Maybe for some, but not for me and not for anyone riding in the high Alps or Dolomiets. That's serious stuff and demands dedication, not cheating, nor living in a fantasy world by dialing back your weight by 20+ kilos !
My god... Those portals... Those are TURDS being wrapped by someone on a bad LSD trip... Gathering coins by steering on a stationary bike ?!?! What is the world coming to ?
It looks like £20 of plastic
Excellent review, worst idea ever...
