  • Replacing the egr valve on a 2015 ford f250 6.7 powerstroke turbo diesel. Truck came in for low power and egr excessive flow code. Pcm was updated to latest calibration per a tsb before the repair. Also the egr reset was preformed.

    Wonder if threaded studs would be good in place of those manifold bolts.

      They probably would be better but if they are anything like the factory exhaust manifold studs they would likely break too. A larger threaded bolt may be a good start but in no expert.

    I have a 2014 F250 Super Duty 4 door 4WD with the 6.7L diesel. Just got a check engine light but the truck is running fine. Happened right after our first cold spell and the DEF was down to 29 miles until low power. I refilled the DEF and shortly after the CEL came on. Mileage was just under 235,000 when the CEL came on. Not really looking for a long distance diagnosis, but what code was the engine throwing to indicate a bad EGR? If you have other ideas, I'd appreciate them. Very good video. I will have a mechanic do this. Looks like an estimate with 4 hours of labor wouldn't be too much. Thanks!

      That could possibly be the def tank heater. Same thing happened to my truck on first cold day. It's pretty east to replace yourself

    Kinda new to this, but what was the actual "Disaster" that was "Avoided"?

    Is the 2015 and 2017 the same EGR valve? Can I use the same part number for my 17? Visually I do t see a difference, but with Ford it’s hard to know.

      From what I found on google the 2017 valves are different from the 2015. Everything I've found the 2011-2016 are the same , the actuator looks different form those years you listed.

    Have you ever had bad egr valve cause strange almost vibrating moaning sound come from exhaust during acceleration

    • @drewsshoplife
      @drewsshoplife  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Never anything that ive tracked back to the egr system. These 6.7 powerstrokes have issues with the turbochargers and have experience the moaning on acceleration and it was the turbocharger failing on multiple trucks.

      Did you find out what that sound was. I think I have the similar noise your speaking of. It's not necessarily a moan.. but like a grinding/rubbing noise on the right side of the engine. Almost like a bad wheel bearing . Thx

      @@codyhosta7404 transmission pump and cracked flywheel. I asked this question because the guys truck I was working on is a descent mechanic and he suggested that was the issue. After driving it and doing my own diagnostic I realized that it sounded like a tractor when it’s running low on hydraulic fluid making odd growling sound during acceleration. Pulled transmission and replaced pump and flex plate problem fixed . I definitely went down every possible avenue for other cause before pulling transmission and I suggest you do the same as it’s expensive even if you do the work. Hope this is helpful and all goes well for you.

      @@codyhosta7404 is your noise always there or comes after truck warms up and during acceleration?
