    What a fantastic example. I had one when I lived in Spain as a kit. I was only 16 and my parents bought me this bike to go to school on. It was about 3 years old already but well taken care of. I rode it everywhere, a real freedom machine.

    Ken, that bike is incredible☆☆☆☆☆ I have so many fantastic memories of the several years I owned a 73 Sherpa T 360. I rode the wheels off that bike in the Rocky mountains of Colorado, with a spare plug in the fender bag the bike NEVER left me pushing.....

    Wow I could not believe it Ken when you said that Bultaco has not been restored. Looks like you just drove it off the showroom floor. Absolutely gorgeous. That's only the second Alpena I've ever seen. Friend of mine in high school had one. Love bull tacos. LOL

    I love this video on so many levels. As a child of the 70's, no motorcycle is more emblematic of that era for me than Bultaco -- and this is by far the nicest specimen I've ever seen. A flawless 'cucumber'. I even like the quaint New England town he's riding through. The whole vid gives a wonderfully nostalgic feeling and takes me back to a special time. Thank you, KA.

    Found a El Monedaro 360 in a guys garage for $200. Gave it a carb cleaning and a buff. Fired right up. Gobs of torque and fun to ride. Couldn't stand backwards controls and too costly to fully restore. Sold it off.

    Had a ~71 250 Alpina in CT and I put thousands of dirt miles on her, best dirt bike ever for the period. Still remember the maintenance, axles out, clean brakes, lube cables, take off points cover plate to check for water leaks (common), flat plate the cover, silicone seal, loved that bike! Only mod was duct tape to protect the tank from my knees and Koni rear shocks (OEM were horrible)..

    Superb looking bike!. You have GOT to save some of those bikes and spares at that closed dealership a couple of vids back. If I lived in the states I'd be camped there!. All those salvageable bikes lying in the rain soaked undergrowth!. Are tarpaulin sheets hugely expensive in the US?. I watched that episode open mouthed.

    Always liked these Alpinas seems like the fork angle was a little steep and the pegs were high like a trials bike. Worked well on tight trails thru the woods.

    • @truthboomertruthbomber5125
      @truthboomertruthbomber5125 Před 7 měsíci

      It’s a Sherpa T trials bike with a wide ratio trans out of a Matador. Stiffer suspension and a high mount front fender and a larger seat and tank. The high pegs really stress out your knees when transitioning from sitting to standing.

    Having grown up with Bultacos, the Alpina was probably the worst conceived model ever produced. With the Sherpa T frame (a very successful trials bike that displaced the British 4 strokes in competition with Sammy Miller helping with the design) the primary riding position in the woods was standing up and that didn't work in Enduros. The Matador was the enduro bike to beat; it won the ISDT numerous times. The Matador was followed by the Frontera which was also a great dirt/enduro bike. OTOH, the Alpina was mismatched for enduros due to its short wheelbase and not good for trials like the Sherpa T due to the wrong gearbox. I've had 2 85 series 250 Alpinas and they are my least favorite of all the Bultacos. I currently own a 49 series Sherpa T and have owned series 26, 75 and 107 Matadors, and 180 and 215 series Fronteras. Also currently own 5 Metrallas and one El Tigre. Bultacos were and are great bikes, but of all the great models produced the Alpina ain't one of them. Like saying the Corvair is the best car Chevrolet ever made.

    Those are all low end power, great for boonie crashing, but don't even try to race it cause You will lose! My cousin had one and he loved it, I thought it was just too slow, no power band. The video tells it all. On the other hand, I rode a pursang 250 and it about ripped my arms off.
