    Back in the 70's I was riding mostly Hodaka, but one of my friends had a Red 370 Frontera (low pipe) and it was absolutely the best trail bike out there. We had access to an Ossa 350 Super Pioneer, and some Husky's along with plenty of Honda's and Yamaha's. That Frontera got stolen out of a locked van, chained to the floor. We replaced it with a Blue 250 Frontera, but it did not have the same magic. Enjoy your Gold one 😁

    Back in 1974. I had my buddy Dad let us ride his Bull 6 day trail gold metal dirt bike in NJ . That bike was a big red and gold left side kick start with shifting on rigth side of the bike. Great day for a 15 year old bike lover.

    The Gold Medal Fronteras were Pursangs dressed as enduros to street use. Factory strikes lead to a long delay to send those Pursangs to the USA, and the importer send them back, so the way of sellling them in Spain was to install lights to be road legal bikes. They are a myth in Spain, a wheelie queen and a very serious fun machine. I had one in my youth, sadly she was stolen. Congrats, you have two very nice Bultacos.

    The last model made by Bultaco was the model number 222 MK 15 420 Pursang . Bultaco only used the model numbers 492/493 to over-stamped a consignment of unsold MK10 Pursangs 192/193 with a 4 to change the model number from a MK10 Pursang to a Gold Medal Frontera . After selling all the over-stamped Pursang Bultaco then made a factory spec, model based on a Frontera . To tell the difference between the two models you need to look at the Motor numbers NOT the model numbers as the model numbers can be changed by stamping a 4 over the 1 (192-193) to change the model number from a MK10 Pursang to a 492-493 Gold Medal Frontera. You will find the Motor numbers between the front sprocket and the gear selector nut stamped on the main case . If your Gold Medal Frontera Motor number is 192 (250) or 193 (370) then it is an over-stamped MK10 Pursang and is 100% a MK10 Pursang with lights and painted gold . If your Gold Medal Frontera Motor numbers are 180 (250) 181 (370) then it is a factory spec. Model and is a genuine Gold Medal Frontera because it is a Frontera NOT a MK10 Pursang.

      I heard about the 420 and some other, but weren't they mostly prototype?

    • @Ogerfish
      @Ogerfish Před 6 měsíci

      According to Bultaco identification chart some state that the last model was 222 Pursang MK 15 420 some state 226 Pursang MK 15 125 . 1980-81 . My point is that the 492-493 was not the last model made . The purpose of the 492-493 model was for Bultaco to over-stamp the Pursang MK 10 ‘s 192-193 into 492-493 . To change there identity.

    In 2023, Mecum Auctions sold a restored Bultaco 'purported' to be a 1983 MK11'B' 215A Frontera... often referred to as the "white Frontera'. Club Bultaco reference material states that the 215A bike was built from '79~'81, so I'm a bit leery as to the 1983 date of mfg. The bike sold for $12,100. Your high pipe & side cover likely came from one of the 215 models.

      AG Sport Logistics on the Spain side, and Marine Air & Land in the States, but it may depend on which port you intend to use. There are several outfits around Miami too.

    I'm a Spaniard, and long ago I used to race Bultacos. I've owned both models. The 370 is sometimes hard to start, but then goes like greased lightning. The Streaker is a nice toy. Enjoy your bikes and be careful. If I remember well, the Frontera front brake was... marginal.
