In 75 Bultaco started putting the shifter on the left and added a choke lever to the carburetor. I found that kicking it very slowly for 4 or 5 kicks, with the choke level down, without opening the throttle will pull the fuel needed to the intake for a cold start. I learned this from watching Spaniards cold starting their old Spanish bikes. I have a 79 Alpina 350, starts very similar to yours. I kick it slowly until I feel it back kick a little. That tells me that fuel is in the cylinder. The next kick, I kick it like I've got a set and crack the throttle. Start almost every time. In the U.S. we automatically crack the throttle when starting an older 2 stroke, it is not really the correct way to do it. When you crack the throttle with the choke lever engaged you stop the suction needed to pull fuel up through the choke circuit.
In 1979 I picked up a 1978 YZ 400. I was 16 yrs old. That was one bad ass bike. I think it was the 1st year Yamaha came out with the monoshock. That beast ate up tires, sprockets and chains.
Nice looking bul I have many been riding and racing them since 1974, I also have a 76 350 Alpena it’s a little different than yours because yours is actually a 1975. Have fun riding it
Impressive! It has the goods to be street legal! Absolutely beautiful, keep that old girl! I'm putting together a 1969 Matador mk3 out of two and a half bikes. Hugh's bultaco in New York will have everything you need.
@@gregs_garage I owned a '69 El Bandito 360 in 1971. Always liked the Alpinas. Can you give me a ballpark figure in US dollars what one like yours could be purchased for?
I bought one to do up about a month and a half ago it was at bord na mona which is a big turf bog in ireland they used to buy them new it was sitting for 7 years and only started on the 100 or 200 kicks but the fucking exhaust wasnt tied on properly so now im deaf in one ear but its a beautiful looking bike it has a tank off a model 49 and the seat of another sherpa and a model 187 frame i think they used to race them when they weren't working
He!he! What was going on at first was your hand pulling the clutch in..........kickstart works on the gearbox on your bike...but then you knew that...right??!
@@gregs_garage do you know what your frame numbers are because my engine is for a 138 but my frame is for a 187 just checking is it ment to be like that
I've never seen anyone kickstart a bike like that, right foot standing to the left of the bike, try straddling the bike and left foot kick it, you look like a girl trying to start it, I'm assuming you don't ride this bike too often, very uncomfortable with it,

So nice motorbike. Alpinas are one of the most polivalent Bultacos and this one looks like the first day. Congratulations to have it.

Clutch was slipping so the kick starter wouldn't engage
no check out the other guy's recent comment. clutch cannot be in while kicking on these. Long time since I started it!
Fantástica, a falta del guarda cadenas pero no es fácil de encontrar.

You don’t know Bultaco. Do some research before saying silly things
