Months? Try a year or two. My buns fought each other when we tried bonding. I was sure they’d live in pens and have separate play time permanently. But during play time, one would spend her time by the other’s pen. The other one would flop down next to her, pushing his fur through the bars so that they touched. I switched pens and litter boxes often, too. It worked. I kept both pens open, they spent time in one or the other like sleepovers. Eventually, they settled in one pen, and started grooming each other or using the litter box together. They did fight sometimes but made up quickly. My boy became blind and my girl helped him navigate. They had a beautiful bond.

I’m so stressed because they have taken down their grids and hurt each other. My mom told me to give up the bonded pair but I will cry when I see my babies go. @@andreachavez3603 No, it isn’t hopeless. If you have room, keep the bonded pair together and the other one in his own pen. At 7mos, they’re all experiencing ‘teenage’ hormones and proving who will be dominant. Are they neutered yet? That may calm the urges to fight. However, it may simply be a territorial thing. It’s recommended to only have bonded females or female/male pairs because males do show aggression whether or not they’re fixed. Good luck, dear. I know you love them but do what’s best for your buns. Also, check with a rabbit-savvy veterinarian for more advice.
@@firelakie Thank you for your reply! Yes all are neutered and when I took them in I didn’t know their genders. They all happen to be boys. I am currently keeping the unbonded one from the pair in a play pen. :) I hope it works out when they mature a little 😭.
This video has been so normalizing and validating for me, and I really needed this message. I have been trying to bond my 1.5 year old neutered flemish giant to my 3 year old spayed Dutch mix for a little over a year now. I feel like I have tried everything from play dates in small spaces, large spaces, 24/7 bonding, stress bonding, swapping pens, etc.. For the last several months I decided to just split my house in two and let the rabbits free roam on their own side and then free roam together when they can be supervised. When we first started bonding, they couldn’t be near each other for even a minute without FIGHTING. Now, they’re absolute best friends most of the time. They just start circling/fighting every once in a while, so they cannot be trusted alone. We recently moved to a new apartment and I was so hopeful that exploring the completely neutral space together would be the last step they needed to stop the occasional fighting. I didn’t want to have to separate them at all in the new place to avoid any territorial behavior, but I start vet school in two weeks and I’m so tired of staying up with them all night to make sure I can stop a fight. They still circle about once per night, but I need sleep and to be able to leave the house for my own sanity.. so I have decided to start separating them when we’re not around, but I don’t want this to mean they will never be able to be trusted alone together. Patience is so important, but so difficult in times like this.
My two boys were unfixed brothers from the same litter and were aggressively humping and nipping at each other. I separated them until 3 weeks after their fixing surgery and then I stress bonded them in their carrier. They had a couple small fights and then they’ve been besties ever since.

Great topic. I agree sometimes it's not going to work despite our efforts. We blame ourselves as bunny parents. I've been trying to bond my big bunny and little one with no luck. One attacked the other and scared me.

I got crazy lucky. I had to have them in pens side by side when I got my second rabbit, because he wasn’t neutered yet. They almost instantly started laying side by side with the bars in between. So after his hormones went down and I allowed to meet, they instantly were inseparable.
I got extremely lucky I had love at first site. I started bonding exactly 7 days ago. They were cuddling, grooming, and sharing food and water. I’m still doing 24/7 bonding and stress bonding to ensure the bond is solidified but they have a very strong bond already. Emoji bit me because I went to pick up Goose.
Xiao Wu chose to bond with Tu Shen almost immediately, but we chose to let them get used to each others' behavior first before letting them be together completely. Meaning we kept them in the same room, but not in the same enclosure. Had an X-Pen and CC Grid as a barrier for a couple months, letting them be together every now and then to check each other out, even though they ate food together through the bars. At first, we weren't sure if Xiao Wu would bond with Tu Shen because she was a rescue while he wasn't, accepting the chance they would have to live separately, but the bonding was easy for us. So we got lucky as first time bunny parents.

They have never harmed each other but their tornadoes quickly escalate into all out war! When in their connected areas they get along great. They flop together, mirror one another and groom each other through the fence. They are now in a two week break. My question is this, since I’ve been swapping them every night, when and will the territories be considered neutral?

The other rabbit was adopted by a lady who aas ok keeping him alone due to aggression and we kept the timid one. He instantly bonded to me and as i work from home and he's free roam we spend most our time together. People can be critical seeing just one rabbit without knowing the stress involved before taking that decision. This video was affirming and encouraging and totally non judgemental which is so refreshing 😊
My almost one year old grunts and stalks my younger boy. They're both fixed and the younger one is ready for love lol but the slightly older one seems to hate him. They both like my fixed female. I'm hoping the younger one wins mr grumpy over with his chill, loving personality . Currently I am scared to put them face to face

They're 4 months old, separate litters but together since 8 weeks, they groom one another and lay together, but they have begun circling and mounting one another, and one of them sprays the other sometimes (usually followed by grooming). It's very difficult to figure out what the right call here is as there's lots of conflicting info online. Seperate your rabbits, never separate your rabbits. I'm not sure what to do 😅 They're getting neutered this coming Friday, and my hope is they can just stay together up to and beyond this procedure, but I do worry that the behaviour could escalate. What do you think?
I had to seperate my white albino from my other two makes cause Jefferson attacked one of them and tore his ear and his lip. He's living in the front room where I spend all day and my other two at night in my bedroom.
I love your videos! I'm experiencing rebonding now because Zion just recovered from being in the hospital for 3 days. After he came back their bond broke and they fought. They were in separate rooms for the past few days so that Zion can fully recover. Now they are in xpens separate from each other but in the same room. Is there anyway we can talk about rebonding after hospitalization?
Looking for advice: I tried for months to bond my two rabbits but although they do groom eachother and sleep with eachother, one continues to chase the other during free roam time and is aggressive when it comes to food… sometimes fur is pulled. So I am going to stop bonding them for awhile. One large reason apart from safety is because the submissive one is soooo timid and scared and I feel like it’s partly due her being scared of the dominant rabbit. My question is, is there still hope that my rabbit will become less timid and scared now that she will be apart from the aggressive rabbit? Or will she forever be this way now? She is less than a year old :(

HELP!!! What do I do if i fed my baby bunny normal hay and unlimited pellets (not alfalfa)? Does this make him underweight or too skinny? Because, thats what I did, today he is 11 months and his weight is 1,7 kg (he is a holland lop bunny) and the normal weight is 1,4 - 1,9 BUT I can feel his spine very easily when I pet him, I would say it's sharp. So how do I solve this problem? He is currently on a proper adult diet which is 2 unlimited hay, cups of greens per day and 1/4 cup of pellets. I've been adding some more pellets to his diet these past few days but Idk if this is the right way, but what other way is there?
I have a bonded trio. Two of them are sisters and are both a year old. The other is 6 and I originally had her solo. At this point I can’t afford to care for all three. Is it cruel to rehome the two sisters and just keep the older one? I really don’t want to separate the sisters and thought that it would be easiest to bond the 6 year old to a new rabbit. I recently got another baby and was hoping to rehome the sisters and bond the 6 year old and the new baby. I honestly don’t know what to do at this point and I’m so conflicted. You can’t afford three? But then got another one? Yes, very confusing. I’d say your making the issue worse. Stop buying bunnies and work w what u have. I would keep them all. , and make it work. that’s the decision you made. and it’s the right thing to do. Pets are a lifetime (their lifetime) commitment

I recommend you plan and prep before bringing up the topic with your mom or dad again. Start by saving up to $500 and getting a disposable income to spend on your rabbit. (If your money is coming from your parents I advise against getting a rabbit.) Taking up more responsibilities in your house and show maturity. This is more psychological and will make your parents trust you. If your already doing this great! How old are you? A vital part of should you have a pet of any kind or not. If you’re too young it the pet will be a burden on your parents. If you’re older you need to think about future housing with a pet.
I have 2 bunnies, a New Zealand, and a Holland lop. My New Zealand is quite a bit bigger than your bunny Ellie. I rescued her from an abusive situation. I have had her since August. She hates all living things and will not bond with anybody. She had gotten to the point that I could pet her and I could put my head on her back and hug her without her trying to bite my face. I'm not sure what caused it, but two weeks ago she started acting possessed and trying to attack and bite anything near her. It breaks my heart. I love her and I don't know what to do to help her. She is my Halloween bunny and she just turned 1. I am getting her fixed soon and the vet says that her anger is not due to anything medical. Can you give me advice on anything I can do to help her?

It depends on the pesticide that was used. Some more aggressive pesticides can leave residue in the soil for years after its sprayed.
