    I was going to choose Gallente because of "freedom" but I feel like the freedom it's just word that attracts people and eventually get me killed. anyway, I kinda like Caldari cuz I feel like they really value hard work and they seem just wise.

      The Caldari State is an ultracapitalist cyberpunk nightmare, and its disregard towards basic human rights is proof of why it didn't deserve independence in the first place. The Gallente, for all their faults (and boy are there many of them), are at least trying to do some good, and arguably succeed at times. I can't really think of anything the State did that benefited the people over the corporations.

      Well nothing stops you from starting gallante and doing a lot of work for Caldari and fighting for them in faction warfare. In fact all of the caldari state was once Gallante.
      Plus drones are cool and the Algos is the best looking destroyer in the game. Corax is close 2nd though.

    glad to see another lore post related to the empires, here's some info regarding the Caldari Estate that wasnt included (i think):
    Caldari Prime has been a main factor in the development of their inhabitants culture. while Gallente Prime is a run of the mill temperate world, Caldari Prime was originally a frozen planet which was halfway on the terraforming process when the EVE Gate collapsed. Due to the unfinished process the world was barely habitable and most of the population had to survive around the equatorial belt where the temperatures were warm enough to provide some kind of forestry and farmable land. Caldari society basically delved heavily into communal work and utilitarianism because the environment they lived in required it. the Gallente had a planet stable enough to go around with individualism and artistic works among other things but their neighbors couldnt or otherwise they would disappear.
    Despite the heavily capitalistic system that the MegaCorps seem to display the Caldari are actually far more communitarian than what meets the eye. every citizen inside the Estate is both an employee and a potential customer that makes the machine working, the MegaCorps have to ensure the welfare of the population because they are the responsible entities for the nation's development so failing to provide services to their own costumers and workforce would be detrimental both economically and politically as it may show weakness against the other entities they share the cluster with.
    The current races playable for Caldari are mostly originated from the homeworld, but the Achura are the exception to this rule and they are kind of their own thing in Caldari society. while the Deteis and Civire grew up with the Caldari way of life since the start. the Achura people had their own government and culture (a very spiritual and philosophical one too) at the time of discovery which they had to adapt or dissolve once they joined the Estate.
    In the political sense Caldari have weird connections, their alliance with the Amarr Empire is strange because at the time of meeting the empire could have very well enslaved them. Im not versed enough to know why this wasnt the case, perhaps the Caldari were advanced enough at the time to compete with Imperial Fleet or the Empire was recovering from their failed attempt at enslaving the Jovians so they preferred to have them as business partners. In addition, Caldari doesnt really have a case for being enemies with the Minmatar Republic, they could very well be possible allies/business partners if not for the larger empires tied at each others foot; this doesnt mean the Minmatar have tried to do wrong on the Caldari, the Scythe for example was originally stolen from Caldari schematics (thus the weird bird-like shape of the ship) and the Thukker Tribe seems to have some kind of competition with one of the MegaCorps (or something like that).

    "Perkone - One of the few remaining Caldari corporations that were founded during the Industrial Age on Caldari Prime, before the arrival of the Gallenteans. Perkone took to the Gallenteans like ducks to water and had its glory days in the years leading up to the war with the Federation. After the war Perkone has struggled, but still manages to produce solid, high quality equipment."
    So they're not the oldest, but it's implied that some of the corporations, including Isuuaya, are from before the founding of the Gallente Federation.
    "Isuuaya Tactical - The Isuuaya name is old and storied, with the very first Caldari corporation founded by the family many centuries ago. That corporation was long ago subsumed by a competitor but the Isuuaya family remains and has a well-deserved reputation for providing excellent officers to the Caldari military. Building on that reputation, the Isuuaya Tactical corporation has developed into a mercenary contracting and brokerage house of some note."

    No faction is squeaky clean in New Eden. So why not take ISK from all four?
    I pretty much treat EVE Online as Armored Core with additional depth and extra steps. No one Corporation or Faction is outright the good guys, and you're out as a capsuleer to make fat stacks and amass power for yourself and your own Corporation. So why not play all four sides? War is a business in New Eden, and business is booming.

    Caldari state is actually a huge dissapointment. You get this idea of a bunch of insestuous corporations with internal and external factionalism from competitive ethnic groups or families in modern more civilized times, and each individual might have any loyalty to any of their old war buddies reaching across all these divides. What we get is a plantation with a chinease educational system. Heck the old rl chinease dynamic of rural bumpkins trying to work their way into city clans is closer to the vision of the Caldari.

    Caldari are my most hated faction mostly for their ship aesthetics but also because of their ultra capitalist tendencies. This video is perfect fuel for my preconceived notions about them. Thank you

    • @Jintaan
      @Jintaan  Před 5 lety +9

      I'd actually argue they're not as capitalist as they're made out to be, and are more a weird blend of corporatism and nationalism with a capitalist paintjob. EVE societies in general are really weird, and I love the job CCP has done with them all around.

    • @jcon5698
      @jcon5698 Před 5 lety +1

      @@Jintaan corporatism really isnt distinct from capitalism. If the free market is sufficiently free then the corporations have the freedom to influence the state to their benefit. Also reactionary attitudes are fueled by and serve to reinforce the worst aspects of liberal democracy so nationalism cant be distilled away from capital either
