I thought this needed to be secured tighter than it actually needs to be, at least for my head and face profile. Initially I had it somewhat snug, not tight by any means, and the bridge of my nose would feel sore after a few hours. I now wear it slightly loose and the comfort is perfect. I thought having the strap a little bit loose would mean that the pillow might slip off during the night but it doesn't. My favorite mask.
I wear it slightly loose as well.
I switched from an N30i to a P30i and LOVE it.
I started on this program about a month and a half ago and it’s really helped. The biggest change is I don’t get up three or four times a night to urinate. I haven’t gotten up once since using this. And when I do get up for good I don’t have a strong urge to go. The drawback is I’m getting up earlier now-about 4 am instead of 6 am. I think so I can take it off-it’s a little uncomfortable. But 6 solid hours of sleep is better than 8 with 4 bathroom trips. Also, during the day I don’t have the kind of exhaustion I was having before. I’ll still take a nap or two, but when I’m awake I’m wide awake and alert.
I like this mask, the only negative is that the strap slowly slips up on the back of my head. I don’t want to tighten the strap too much more because I don’t want mask marks on my face. That said, this is the best mask I have ever used.
I solved the slipping problem by attaching my own chin strap. Works very well.
@@oliverhenning8758could you eleborate on it please?
I absolutely love my P30i, really comfy. I found the Medium pillow is really comfy and the small one very uncomfy as sits mostly inside but the Medium fits well. Really good.
Hi Shuan, thanks for sharing your experience using the P30i, glad you enjoy it.
Cheers
Nick
I just got my cpap and the small ones do make my nose sore. I'll give the medium ones a shot
I am very happy with this mask. I tried the cushion but had some issues with slippage. Long story short, solution…medium nasal pillows. Now the mask stays in place. Another plus…very easy to clean.
Hello Nick! Incredible video as usual. This really helped me to change out the P10 for my wife for this P30i or maybe the N30i which I am sure she will love more because of the tubing on the top. You are my favorite CPAP person on CZcams.
Thanks mate! That certainly put a big smile on my face. Best wishes for you and your wife
I have just purchased the mask and would highly recommend it. The best I've used. As I've been using a CPAP, for almost ten years.
Hi Greg, thanks for sharing your insights and experience with the P30i. Glad it's working well for you mate. Nicko
Great review! I just switched from the Philips Dreamwear nasal-cushion mask to the Resmed P30i mask - What a difference!
The Resmed P30i mask is far better than the Philips Dreamwear nasal mask in my estimation. 👍🙂
Better in what sense if you don't mind me asking? I breathe better in out of the Dream wear and it doesnt pinch my mustache but I get a way better seal out of the P30i
I have this and sleep on my back primarily. Zero issues. Can't say enough good things about it.
I bought one of these maskies off ebay and when it showed up today it was from you! LOL cool!! I'll clip this in my frame and give this a burl tonight. Cheers !
Not a problem for back sleepers. Top connection just swivels to the side your CPAP machine is on.
Yes, I sleep on my back only and I just swivel the top connection so the tube goes off to the side. I'm not laying on the tube at the back of my head.
I love the comfort of this mask as it is the least intrusive for a side sleeper that I have tried. However, the only issue I am dealing with is that the intake air is very warm even on a cooler temp setting.
Hi Jon, thanks for your great comment. Glad to hear it's working well for you. Cheers. Nicko
Nostrils were brutally sore the first night. Was so bad that I wanted to smash it against the wall. The next day I figured out that I had installed the pillows upside down. Next night was fantastic. Doesn't cause problems with the TMJ. like the full face did.

Thanks for your patronage and support. Your mate. Nick
Thanks for these interesting and informative videos that are brief and to the point.
Boring subject with an amazing presentation. Thank you for this!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the kind comment too :)
I found that the small pillow fit better but I couldn't seem to inhale or exhale enough air so I had to go to the medium.
I've had mine for just 8 days now. I've found that using some vaseline really helps with the nose irritation. I think I'll be using it every night from now on; it even feels nice on the skin now.
Nice one brother . Thanks for the great tip!
hi Isaac. How do you use the vaseline? You mean while wearing the mask? Isn't that a problem for the sealing? Thanks for the info, this may be a great tip
@Arin in Real Life So I was using vaseline while wearing the mask and didn't have any trouble with the seal. However, I learned that you shouldn't use vaseline with the cpap cause if it gets in your lungs it can cause lipoid pneumonia, not good. So instead I use an aloe-based gel called Ayr. It's pretty cheap and you can buy it off amazon. You just put it on your nostrils every night before you put on your mask. Cannot reccommend it enough, haven't had any issue with irritation or mask leak since using it.
Nick, thanks for your detailed review of the P30i cpap mask. I was puzzled about the small filter on the cushion part until I saw how you removed it from the silicone pillow section. I just got the P30i system through my DME and I'm anxious to try it out tonight instead of the P10 mask I've been using. I sleep best on my side and I think the P30i will be ideal with the hose attaching on top of my head instead of at my nose. Wish me luck!
Hi brother. I do wish you luck! all the luck in world. let me know how you get on with the P30i. Cheers. Nick

You can pin your reply to the top.
Issue with this mask: one or the other of those hollow tubes collapse on you while sleeping on your side. So all the air pressure has to go through the opposite side of the head frame.
I don't know if this reduces total air pressure into nose, or not, but I am going to try an F30 with hose out the front, so resolve the question of best mask for me.
Thanks mate. You cover everything. Just started using it and my only problem is taking the odd breath through my mouth and having air rush through my nasal passage into my mouth. I’m just doing more breath work through my nose and going to go through breathing classes
I’m testing a new mask for resmed, it’s on my face now, it’s completely different, wow.
@gregmccoy4782 I would absolutely love to hear about it mate! Any chance you can send me some picks? I’ll send you some cool cpap gear for your time. Cpapreviewsaus@gmail.com
I prefer the nose cushion mask versus this pillow version. My nostrils were wicked sore in the morning.
Me too :-). Thanks for sharing your experience. Nick
it is necessary to always use the chin strap although there will be no mouth when sleeping
It says right on the package "Quietair" But I find this thing so loud laying on your side. But it's so much more comfortable. Maybe one day I'll find the right one for me.
I love this mask but I find that the holes in the connector elbow whistle if they get smothered by the pillow. Why are they there??
The provider recommended that I not use masks with nasal pillows, due to the pressure prescribed for CPAP (14.8 cm H2O). Is that correct? Because the normal nasal mask I tried in the study left painful marks that took weeks to heal. And the nose pillows seem like the solution to that problem ... Although, I have large nostrils and my nose is wide.
Hi Andreyna, firstly the prescribed pressure is probably to high anyway. 90% of sleep techs over titrate the pressure requirements. Secondly, i would trial auto therapy which will mean that you will have an average pressure vs a fixed pressure and that average pressure is normally 30-40% less than a set fixed prescribed level. Finally, nasal pillows do get harder to use the higher the pressure goes but if you get it down to around 10-12cm you should be fine ;-). Personally, i would drop that pressure down to 10cm for a week and then do a data download to see what level your AHI (apnea hypopnea index) is from the device. You always adjust up again if the AHI is over 10. All the best
@@CPAPReviews Thank you so much :)
I'm using the f20. It lasts @ 3hrs, at the most. At that point the seal gives way and no adjustment helps. The escaping air sounds my mask is farting. I have two cushions and they both have the same issues. Maybe my face morphs into something during the night. Your video is giving me some hope that there may be an alternative. The quest will begin tomorrow.
Nah it's not your face, it's the cpap pressure. Learn how to adjust the pressure and cap it at a level where the masks still seals well. Then just monitor your AHI to make sure it's enough pressure to control your sleep apnea to a reasonable level. Do this first and then if still no luck go on the hunt for a new mask. If you want a mask that seals really well the check out the ResMed Mirage Quattro. It's a bit of an older mask but the seal is just incredible and great for high pressures. Cheers
Thanks, CPAP Guru!
Welcome mate
The material that goes around the cheeks of mask people have a difficulty putting back on put some corn starch down cloth tube will slide on
Hi Joanne, thanks for the awesome tip :-). Have a great day. Nick
whoa..... I didn't know the pillow exhalation ports could be removed, thanks! I've been a respironics nuance user for years and tried many types of masks... im really hoping the P30i would be my replacement... :)
Good luck! Cheers
@@CPAPReviews oz oz oz oi oi oi .... I think I may have found the right mask for me! thanks...
@@CPAPReviews oz oz oz oi oi oi ... this P30i is definitely the best alternative for respironics nuance... it's really quiet, I could barely even hear any exhalation air at all... I've tried the dreamwear, resmed line... nasal masks, full masks... hand down the P30i is the best... I finally found the best alternative after many years and mask try-ons!
If it's anything like the phillips one it use to make me blind for 20 to 30 seconds when I woke up. I mean totally blind. The dr says it was probably the air pressure rushing past my eyes.. it was so scary. Threw my phillips one in the bin. I now use a resmed p10 with no troubles.
I loved this until they put in a filter on the nasal part. Feel like it's harder to breathe. Can I take out that filter?
I've been on CPAP since 2005 and this is the best mask I have ever used. Though I also like to go camping in a tent and I need another mask that I can put an HME on if anybody has any suggestions I would appreciate it. I was thinking the P10 but not sure. I have a vision loss so it's hard for me to see how things are put together in videos. In the past I have been limited to camping where there's electrical power but I want an off grid solution with a battery so using the humidifier is not an option on battery.
I have this mask and put the tubing on and can’t get it off now to wash it. I’m worried I might break the plastic elbow part
Hi there, just found your channel. Im new to CPAP use and I have the Airsense11 with this P30i mask and Ive been using it about a month and so far, I love it. Very comfortable. Im a side sleeper so this setup works for me. The whole machine and mask are whisper quiet which is great. I came here to ask why are there holes in the top of the elbow? You mention them in this video and I've noticed them when the mask is in use, but what's the purpose of the holes and allowing air to escape that way? It seems counter-productive to be losing air pressure out the top when its pushing air in.
Hey mate. I have been trialing the N30i which has worked well except for the volume of air that vents from the mask and pisses off the Mrs. Last night I tried the P30i and noted that there's almost no air flow at all from the diffuser vent on the front of the mask...I woke during the night with a cracking headache and began to wonder if I was getting enough fresh air supply or if I was breathing (and re-breathing) stale air that has no escape route. Am I missing something? If there's almost no air escaping from the mask vent, how is the stale air expelled? Cheers!
Hi Keith, ResMed would have done all the tests regarding the exhaled air etc so it will be safe. There's a number of exhalation ports on those masks. Could just be a coincidence that you had a headache. Let me know how you go.
Cheers
Nick
I think too, make sure that the defuser is round the right way with the holes on the inside (I think)
@@CPAPReviews Thanks Nick. That comment makes sense. I haven't tried it again due to other issues, but will do one day I'm sure.
@@keithm1639 Update? I’ve been getting frequent headaches and nausea as well. Was wondering if it has to do with my mask and/or therapy settings.
@@TSpartanDR Not really...I switched back to the N30i. If I try the P30i again it'll be with the filter removed. Sorry to hear that you've had ongoing issues...perhaps worth a chat with your CPAP provider?
Just started treatment with it. My issue is it makes a whistling sound when i exhale no matter how much i try to adjust or tighten it. I have the small size, should i try medium or large, or is there another solution to the whistling sound?
Just switched to this mask last night from the F30. Love the feeling of freedom. I also use the SleepHQ software (fantastic software) and was interested in hearing your opinion as to the leak rate of the P30i compared to that of the F30. Are most users finding less or more leakage with the P30i over the F30?
Just got this 2 nights ago really liking it so much better than the full face mask. What setting do I set my dream machine on x1 x2 x3 x4 x5 or off????
I would just turn it off if it's not a philips mask ;-)
Had mine over 2 weeks now with no issues and its been great, no leaks etc...Or so says myAir. The last night or two it sounds and feels like a leak on the top where the heated hose goes in. Hasnt affected my score and seems fine to breathe with still. Just louder than previous. Thought I'd ask you before i go to Resmed asking why... Cheers, Adam.
I've been using a Nasal mask, but want to try a pillow mask. I heard that gel pillow masks offer the best comfort level. But I want one with the tubing at the top of my head like the one on this video. Can you please recommend a good gel nasal pillow mask?
Hi there, philips make a dreamwear gel which has the gel pillows and the top of the head attachment. Cheers
@@CPAPReviews Thank you ☺
i kinda wish they had an inbetween size between small and medium. i feel small im like gasping for air, but medium its like...too big for my nose x-x
Just started using this so I am learning, but the pillow hurts my upper lip between my nostrils and my lip.
Been trying different ways to adjust but can't seem to figure it out.
I have the P10 and I hate it I have long dreadlocks and I wear a satin sleep cap to keep my hair from making it feel like bugs crawling on me. Is this mask good for someone with long hair because that stupid P10 strap rubs my eyes while I'm sleeping, and the strap stretches out bad due to my hair?
Mate that's a very interesting question and to be honest i have never fitted anyone with dreadlock before but i can understand what you mean. I'm not sure what mask to recommend however if you're not loving the P10 then it certainly couldn't hurt to trail a p30i or a dreamwear Gel to see how you find it. Let me know how you go as i would be very interested to know. Cheers
I just got the P30i mask, question with the hose connection on top of the head will it break or damage hair. Not looking for loosing my hair or get a bald spot.
Could you have a video on joining sleep Hq? I am smart enough to use Smart Phone but don’t understand. Best Mask for side sleepers? Full mask leaked. This Resmed 30fi keeps falling off. In addition when I check mask fit… it takes time for adjustment.
Hi Phyllis, it's easier to join using a laptop or pc. Just go to sleephq.com/users/sign_up . Once you have signed up, there's a few videos in the help center to get you stated and i'm working on a community forum that will be available shortly. Best wishes
Hello, I recently messaged you about the Phillips Dream Station recall and really appreciated your advice. I ended up purchasing a resmed air sense 10. Since I really liked the Phillips respironics nasal pillow head gear, I purchased the resmed version of this mask - the P30i. However, I am having issues with the mask slipping off my head. The lower strap slips up the back of my head. I have long hair and I don't know if that is the reason or if I purchased the wrong size head gear (the standard one). You mentioned in your review that other people provided negative feedback on the mask fit. Could you elaborate on that? I am trying to figure out if I should get a smaller head gear or if I need to put the lower strap under my hair to keep it in place. I would appreciate your thoughts on how to keep this mask secure on my head. I am also wondering if I could use the Phillips respironics mask with the resmed CPAP. It looked like the tubes were different sizes which is why I purchased the resmed mask. However, the the Phillips mask fit me better. Thanks for your thoughts.
For anyone else having this problem, the best way to deal with this is to switch out the headgear for the one from the Philips Dreamwear. It fits just fine, and is a good bit more secure.
I have the small frame and it slips up diring the night anyway. It doesn't slip so much to affect the mask position, but it would feel more comfortable if it would sit closer to the neck.
Thanks for your video explaining all the features of the masks. Ive bought the Resmed AirSense 10 Elite with the P30i mask a week ago after having tried the Fisher & Paykel with diff pillows and cushions.
I find the Resmed is quiet and easy to use. I love its auto turn on and off.
You mentioned that the starter pack Airfit P30i comes with 3 diff sizes masks inside? Well, mine came with just the one small size.
Did you have a video on how to clean the tube and masks?
Love your videos. Thanks you.
Ying
Hey Ying, thanks for sharing this info. Glad you're enjoying the ResMed. It's certainly a great machine. Some companies do a cheeky little sales trick where they will take out the other sizes and then sell them separately online to make extra money etc. I don't have a cleaning vid mate but i will certainly start doing a few as many people request them. All the best. Nicko
@@CPAPReviews thanks for your reply. Cheeky companies! No wonder they can throw in a freebie here and there.
Do you sell cushions without the middle divider for the nostrils? I find the one I've tried has the divider that sometimes blocks one of my nostrils when I turn on my sides.
Side sleeping doesn’t crush the head air tube? My pillow is very stiff.
Well explained. Many thanks.
You are welcome!
I have the resmed N301i l like it but the back strap keeps sliding up and off my head. The problem is if you are not bald the strap slides across the hair and off.
I have dry eyes so I avoid air vents that direct air upward (like the Amara View). Does the diffuser aim the air up? Time sensitive question.
Hi Arlene, no it certainly aims down
I just started CPAP and they gave me the P30i. HATE IT!! When i breath it sounds like Darth Vader.
Hi Graham, thanks for sharing your feedback - here's a video which might help - czcams.com/video/U1uDDpZNNJc/video.html
Have they made the side channels firmer in the last couple of years? In the past, the DME clinician kept repeating the company brochure that it was perfect for side sleepers, and that if one side was compressed, the other side would compensate. But for someone who needs a higher pressure, I'd wake up for lack of air.
The first time I cleaned it I poured the distilled water in my stainless steel sink and now the sink is stained. Anyone else have this issue?
I’m having trouble with finding that my exhale breath is soo noisy! Am I doing something wrong. That noise doesn’t let me sleep because I start to concentrate on it!
Are these good for people who apply medication (Rogaine) on the scalp? I am curious about the cleaning the strap part. Would it degrade the silicone top over time? I feel this frame would fit the scenario the best because I can just wipe down the silicone because other masks use cloth so it would be annoying/difficult to clean daily. Please let me know from your knowledge/experience. As a new CPAP user it is difficult to find the right mask! and they are so expensive.
Mine is hella comfortable
hi. I think you may be able to help. I have this mask ( I have 2 ). When i tighten the straps the nose piece pulls the end of my nose up ( the end of my nose clicks like it's dislocating ). Whatever level I tighten the straps the nose piece pulls up the end of my nose to whatever degree I tighten. Q: do the tubes down the head come in different sizes or just one standard size? Q: My pressure is better around 13, and i think this is a challenge for a nasal pillow. Q: I have tried nasal masks n20 many times but can't get a good sleep etc. Q: is there a technique I can use to stop the above? Last Q: When i ramp the pressure, say 15, even if i get a 'seal rating ' of 1/20 I get an event result of as low as 0.3 - 0.5. It seems that a good 'seal' isn't really that important when the aim is low events, can i get your thoughts please ? Always enjoy your youtube videos, always helpful. thanks
tonight is my first night trying to use my new machine, it seems so uncomfortable and hard to sleep, not sure how I am going to get used to this : (
just a question.. I use a medium wide but I want a full face in dreamwear. My nose is wide is it possible a large would fit? maybe? Thanks Dave
I’m a mouth breather but I’m having trouble with dribbling in my sleep with my current mask. I’m worried if I go for the P30i I’ll snore with my mouth!
Need help: I bought this 2 months ago and I noticed my exhalation goes back through the same pipe?am I breathing my own co2?🥺
The small in this frame is still too big for me even when I adjust it
I've just switched from the Dreamwear nasal cushion style mask. Unfortunately the standard package is containing only S and M size pillows here. Does anyone know where can I buy only QuietAir Vent filter in Europe? Or just hack a new filter from a machine filter like Nicko?
I have this mask and could not keep it on my head so i changed frames and that did not work either. I'm an active sleeper so I think the head gear is to light for me. It's also very noisy compared to other mask that I own So for me its not a great mask
I've just bought one of these, as the Swift FX that I've been using for many years has been discontinued and parts are getting harder to locate. I've only used it for one night and perhaps I am doing something wrong. When I am on my side the air channel on one side is blocked off and I can tell it is harder to breathe. But your review says it is good for side sleepers. I'll try it again, but curious if you have any insight.
Can you hear the air traveling through the tubes on the sides of your head?
Some diffusers I've had previously were very loud so I'm curious about the noise with this.
I have this mask and don't hear the air coming through the tube.
@@carolecavanaugh7209 interesting you say that ..I just got this mask and it's so loud I can't sleep with it
I just started with crap last night with this mask. My only concern is it feels difficult to breath out, like there is resistance, is that normal ? Thanks
yeah it's pretty normal to feel like that in the beginning, make sure you put up the pressure relief settings on your machine to max as this will help in the beginning. Best of luck
Winner of a video, been searching for "does medicare pay for cpap supplies?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Panvaryor Unexpected Preference - (do a google search ) ? It is a good one off product for discovering how to eradicating sleep apnea and snoring minus the headache. Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my brother in law got amazing success with it.
Love your blog. Now the truth. I’m using my wife’s Id as I don’t have one. Anyway, can an American buy from the place you advertise? $999 is a great price in USD
Thanks in advance, Bill Allen
I used nasal mask years ago and had to have extra small to fit nostrils . In full face mask. I use a small. Do you think small would work instead of standard in this? I use a full face air fit f20 in small
I bought the N30i then I changed the cushion for the P30i, but I feel now I have more air leaks with it and it more noisy...
If someone has some tricks please let me know because I love that mask but the leaks and noise bother me?
It whistled for me on the small nose piece, but was silent on medium, although not as comfortable. Try a different size.
I have the n30i and just purchased the P30i. Seems as though my air pressure is extreme with the P30i. Is it recommended to lower the pressure? Feels like real blast of air!!! Thoughts??
Thank you
Which one do you prefer? N30i or P30i?
Never got my question answered….but prefer the full face N30i
I love it !
Hi Mary, thanks for sharing your feedback :-). Glad you love the P30i, it's one of my favs too. Nick
Do you collaborate with any stores in the EU?
Gday mate. I’ve recently purchased the P30i because I was getting quite loud and frequent mask leaks with the N30i. I’m getting quite sore nostrils from the medium pillow. I’ve started using Lansinoh on my nostrils to help it heal but also to toughen the skin of the nostrils and centre of my nose. I’m still getting mask leaks and don’t know what my other options are. I don’t want to go back to a full face mask so don’t know what to do. Any advice will be great. Thanks.
Hey Bud, have you tried just standard nasal pillow like the ResMed P10? Sometimes you need to check out previous masks instead of the 'latest and greatest'. The P10 is a cracker and worth a trial at your local cpap clinic.
Can I use the n30i pillows with the p30i frame?
Yes :)
@@CPAPReviews thank you!
Nice vid mate, can it handle high air pressure? Cheers Graham
J aimerait la traduction en français svp😊
Due to congestion i might no be able to use the P30i. Can I convert it to the F30i or do i have to buy a new frame?
New frame it isn't interchangeable like with the dream wear
has anyone heard of ventmed bi pap vm8 st30
i really like this mask but when i'm on my side it sometime leaks under from my nostrils. Do you think i'm using smaller or bigger would fix it?
I got the same question. Did you figure it out?
@@3Comas Unfortunately no. But i got used to it. When i lay on my side i face down to pillow press it and turn normal. Tension on cord mostly fixes it in place. Hope it helps. It's really comfortable mask but leaks a lot. Gonna try N30i sometime.
Yeah, I used it for the first time and I have to either tighten it up for when I sleep on my side. But this hurts my nostrils. Or I loosen it up a bit, but have tiny leaks when in on my side. I wish they had soft nostril cones that go into your nose a bit and did not have to rely on putting more pressure on the nose to have a nice seal.
I wonder if the nasal masks are better.
@@3Comas i would definitely pay for deep nostril mask. This barely stays in place if you lay on your side.
I used it for 4 years now and my nose is bigger than before....lol...
Does this mask works for sleep apnea with enlarged tonsils and deviated septum?
Hi mate, the deviated septum might be an issue but still worth trying a nasal pillow to see if you can use it as they're much easier to sleep with compared with full face masks. Cheers
@@CPAPReviews Thank you very much. Much appreciated.
Yeah the nostrils never toughen up......mine hurts, healed or not. Thats horse shit.
Does this come in a small frame
Yes. Small and standard
Australian english? 🤔🤔🤔
In my opinion the N31i is a piece of garbage. The air passages collapse when you lay onto your side. Do this very simple test. Turn on the unit with the mask in your hand , now squeeze one side of the air tube and notice how dramatically the air flow changes. I am throwing mine in the garbage. Do not buy any collapsable head gear with the hose attachment on the top of your head, my opinion. Res med should be ashamed to sell this junk.
Comfortable mask garbage strap.
