- With a shout-out to not-yet-band-member Anton Fig; Paul Shaffer; a class with staffers Bridget Jackson, Mary Brennan, Lisa Erhlick, Paul Pagano, Adam Resnick, and Patrick Casey; an audience member (Laurie Diamond) on the "debut Late Night"; and a botched Paul flashback, with "Grant Tinker" (Elmer Gorry) and Adam Resnick again.
That Anton Fig guy just might work out.
Was he really not always in the band or was that just a bit
Surely his hairline will never fade!
I first listened to Anton Fig back in 1978 when I was 8 years old. Although, at the time, I didn't realize I was listening to Anton Fig, but I got the 45 single of Ace Frehley's "New York Groove."
So much to love about this. "Skeets is a nut", the drum seat controversy, Frampton sitting in, the crew intros. Just great! One of the segments I kept in its entirety on my tape collection.
And Anton Fig sitting in for 20 years!
Pyramid of Comedy needs a solid base.
lol Paul singing Oh Canada as he fades to death like HAL in 2001 singing Daisy
I saw Letterman 3 times live and once in a close by garage more or less right after the show saw Anton also going home; seemed like a nice guy. Watching Paul through the SNL years and then Late Night, I kinda think if they weren't all cool, they wouldn't have stayed together that long. I know Sid and Anton came a few years in but then they hung tight for a couple decades. Love those cats.
Gotta love the prop work. lol.
When Anton on drums becomes a permanent member.
Not until May. All explained here - donzblog.home.blog/2022/04/17/the-musicians-on-late-night-with-david-letterman/
@@dongiller thanks Don that was awesome information on the band's formation and where they came and went along the way.
" there's nothing worst then being trapped in a piece of bad comedy "
Yes there is, walking in front of a hot camera.
@@wiedep It's funny cuz dave is ALWAYS complaining about the heat. No wonder he choose the theater with giant air conditioning next time lol
This is kind of amazing. Paul singing "O Canada" is the frosting.
This brings back memories. I recall the household gathering around the old Zenith and tuning into the live performance of the tribute to Cheez-its. Gavin McLeod was in top form that night and a pleasant surprise appearance by "Gofer"! I remember Aunt Davis tearing up as the finale musical number was performed by Sandler and Young! Memories.. ahh memories
I would love to have David as my teacher!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Paul is the best sidekick...two for one special bandleader and sidekick who always gets a laugh and doesn't have to steal your air time, I mean share your air time lol ;) Even though David is awfully generous with his air time. "My little buddy Paul is trapped inside!" that made me SMILE lol ;)
1:17 It's Anton 𝘡𝘪𝘱𝘱.
A "show debut" compilation of "new" members, that would be Sid and Anton with relevant bumpers would be amazing someday.
What sort of bumpers do you mean?
@@dongiller You know, like outtros from segments where the band is featured. I dunno, I was very interested watching Anton at the end of the clip here. The drum set up, wbere he sat, etc. Maybe I'm just weird.
Ah, so the music played. Sorry I misunderstood. To me, the word “bumper” refers to the graphic image displayed into and out of the commercial breaks.
I’ll consider it. :)
GOOD TIMES!! 😂
Funny Stuff! Don, you should put together a copulation of the celebrity shout outs from the audience. Those are awesome and funny
audience copulation
Was the sound man asleep at the wheel during the Paul flashback?
Cheez-its are tasty.
I never noticed there was a mixer on the floor until Dave introduced Blaney. I assume he did the pre-mix for the musical performances?
Roger Stone was running the wayback machine. Interesting.
Frampton!!! 🎸 god
Jackie loves him!! ;P
How did they do they skit with the 1st show.he was wearing the same suit and tie from that show. But that never happened haha
Oh, to be young again .. (Not really.). N.E.OH Bob
@ 7:32 NABET appearance fee!
What ever happened to the original drummer?
Steve Jordan. Look him up. :)
Don Giller thanks for the reply. I couldn’t remember his name.
was this Anton's first night with the band?
No, his first was weeks earlier on March 10.
@@dongiller don did you tape these all on vhs. If you had to guess.how many shows did you record ? 90% is my guess
