- By request. Preceded by Opening Remarks that's focused on a guy in the audience who plays jai-alai; a Paul chat; and the night's Top Ten.
Featured in Viewer Mail is an office meeting with Joe Toplyn, Bridget Jackson, Maria Pope, and Kevin Curran. Dave then visits "Jizmo" (the voice of Chris Elliott), followed by a Christmas greeting (in August) with Steve O'Donnell, Jimmy Fitzgerald, Paul Shaffer, and encore appearances by Maria, Joe, Bridget, and Kevin. Finally, Jimmy returns with fellow stagehand Tommy Casabona to answer how much they're making.
I was in the audience of this particular show. I was in the back looking lost and waving at the camera during the closing credits. It's the first time I ever went to see Dave. What a great time and great memory!
Sounds like a great memory (he said, not sarcastically.)
Lucky dog!
Good times!
One of the few things I can watch over and over again. I get so very nostalgic!!!
c'mon, kids- everyone pile into the Beiruter for some ice cream
thank you me and my father appreciate it
I remember losing it so bad at "Pontiac Cyst".
Thanks for posting... Jizmo became a catchphrase amongst me and my high school friends at the time. Damn that was a long time ago :)
So where did the name come from?
The joke answering what would happen if there was no Late Night reminds me of the Simpson's showing what would happen if there were no lawyers or no Itchy and Scratchy.
The lighting was so much better when they spent this summer in 8H while 6A was being renovated.
So this is in the Saturday Night Live studio ? They just recreated the whole letterman set?
@@alexcarey687 yes, SNL studio. They moved the set into the temp studio. I assume using a freight elevator. They upgraded all of the technical equip in 6A. The renovated studio then started using the new TK-47 (blue) cameras.
@@johnvanzandt198 I just spent several minutes reading about the TK-47 (blue) cameras. Did you know that the TK47 was used by NBC until the mid-90s, but that a tape studio in Hickory, N.C. used TK47s until early in 2010? True!
@@freeadrian1144 local stations used TK47s right up until they eventually purchased HD cameras in mid-2000s. A true workhorse. Originally released in 1979 I think.
And that's all for today's episode of Studio Shop Talk, brought to you by RCA. Thank you for watching. Tune in next time when we discuss the Sennheiser MKH-416 microphone.
My 13th Birthday! Thanks for posting. When will you release the entire run, Don? That’d be all the TV I need for the rest of my life :)
"Speaking of polls, 3 out of 4 people make up 75% of the population."
Ah, I see one of the Harvard boys got a joke in
The Pontiac Cyst. Lol.
oh could I have my Dave and Jizmo's holiday greeting on 8mm, please 😄
I was actually a bit miffed that they didn't have Dave and Jizmo's holiday greeting available on 16mm. Well, c'est la vie!
Some people did have home projectors back then, and you could sometimes buy films for them. Not sure if this was a joke or not given the airdate.
13:35 - That's a nice New Jersey Generals jersey.
And people wonder why GenXers have such a cynical outlook lol.
and as of 2021, 3 of those companies no longer exist...
I’d gladly drive a Beiruter or a Junta.
I think the Dodge Johnson might've been a big seller
The hunt for the real jizmo begins.
And how _did_ you get or come up with that name?
14:12 that puppet looks a bit like Alan Kalter
I would trust a tattoo removal device made by Ronco.
"It really, really works!"
omfg . . . . just realized the NFL stole Dave’s idea for the sky cam . . . thanks your welcome
Actually the reverse. Dave made fun of NFL’s Sky-Cam. whose first usage was in 1984.
could you post Pete fatovitch as a gas attendant calls dave a wise guy -from july 1987 thanks
When I get the time. Currently transferring files on hard drives to get more space.
3:10 😮 and that is probably *the* most political joke I’ve ever heard, for all the people saying “Talk shows & SNL got all political”
Adding this is just some of the best tv ever made…always amazed.
Wow! That first 'viewer mail' letter (joke) would never get past the censors now. LOL
Plenty of anti-trans comedy all over, as always (the most famous comic in america for example)-your “censors” must be asleep.
