More fun video from Div. I find myself looking forward to your stuff more than anything else I see. Thanks man.
Thanks Andrew, glad you are enjoying my stuff
Div she is coming along very well there so far. Really likeing this project. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Fab On. Weld On. Keep Making. God bless.
Thanks man!
VIEWERS NOTE: I love the fact that you teach in English, which like me, is NOT YOUR FIRST LANGUAGE. And then you also teach in Imperial and Metric simultaneously for your global audience. I used to work totally bilingually when I lived in South Africa. And even now, I work in metric and imperial here in England.
You are truly a gentleman and a champion.
It's like the A-Team used to say 'I love it when a plan comes together...'
You giving your age away!😄 I feel the same way
Diff you are a talented genius
Thanks Billy. My wife doesnt share the sentiment😆
BONUS REEL !!!!!!
You have spoiled us this week Diff, thanks a lot.
Thanks for sharing your welding table and its improvements
Once again you share and show so much, and your pace, clarity and content is just right.
I also love the fact that you teach in English, which like me, is NOT OUR FIRST LANGUAGE. And then you also teach in Imperial and Metric for your global audience. I used to work totally bilingually when I lived in South Africa. And even now, I work in metric and imperial.
Thanks for all the kind words boet! Yes, my mother tongue is Afrikaans, but I have an English wife...I lived in the States for a while and had to learn some Imperial. Great to able to use both. But millimeters only when it comes to accurate stuff, I don't have time for those ridiculous fractions and thousands😀
Thanks Diff for another great video
The pleasure is mine!
I’m so impressed keep up the awesome work can’t wait as you move along 😊
Thanks Bruce!
That table was an amazing find.
Keep on keepin on ! It's great!
Thanks!
I can’t wait to see this rig all buttoned up
Gonna be some time still, the old man is not rushed 😀
It's such a cool and different design. It's been great watching you build it. Thanks for the video 👍
Glad you like it! My pleasure
Cool Diff...
Your so creative , I can't wait to see what you what you put on that ride next ! 🙂
Thank you! 😊
nice one diff it is always a pleasure watching you work well have a nice one see you soon i hope
Thanks for the visit!
Surprise! a video on Wednesday! Everything looking good! Nice detail on the gussets. Being a tool maker , I love your clamps . Dude ! you have to leave some access doors to show off the
killer fabrications at the car shows! Thanks for the vid.
Ja, occasionally I get a bit more speed😀 I'm strongly considering just leaving the back end completely exposed.
I think I'm really confused, or smoked some good weed. Two episodes in one week. Div, you just made my day!
Haha, glad you enjoyed!
Helluva nice table Diff! 👍👍🤙🤘✌️
Thanks for making me appreciate the rat rod culture. Never understood it before until I watched your videos. I really admire your forest engineering and the thought process and easy explanations. Keeping it coming Div. Can't wait for the next episode!
Cool man, happy to hear that. Maybe its just my take on the culture? A lot of guys use it as an excuse for bad workmanship...which gives rat rods a bad rap.
Nicely done Boet. Great video Div
Thanks boet
Awesome evening brother from another country small steps but forward steps coming together great !!! Have a lekka one brother
That's looking good Div. Lekker STERK. That hole at the corner of the gusset plate is to relief stress caused during welding. (Also doubles up as a drain hole when installed at the bottom). I still do that on my gussets on steel structures and on my bakkie. Thank you for sharing. I dig that table, was a great find.
Yes, spot on. I forgot to mention that bit. I never weld into a corner if I can help it.
looking forward to your vision for the rear of the frame. "Have a Lucky One" :-)
Me too! Have no idea yet...🙂
Thanks great episode...great inspiration..
Real happy if I can inspire man!
Thanks for another great video Div! 🍺
Pleasure brother!
Well Mr D. U must like us my brother we get 2 videos this week 👍👍👍 hey and I like that wrk table wish I had 1 like it wrk smarter not harder yes sir way to go 👍👍👍👍
Thanks! Great job. That has to be the largest “C” notch I’ve seen. Should have plenty of clearance. 🤣
Love it. 👍🏻👍🏻
Jeez brother! All I can say is thank you very much! And that you are now owning shares in this truck. 😄
@@ratrodsafrica really wish I could do more. If I was there, you’d have all my volunteer time. 🤣
Thank you for helping me understand some of this building techniques and technology. You have opened my eyes on a lot of things.
Its only a pleasure Harold. If I can pass on a little knowledge or something, it is mission accomplished!🙂
That is going to be one solid frame. Better than anything off the production line. Lekka Div
Yeah, I typically over engineer things. But a rat rod is a good excuse for that😅
Looking good my friend! Always informative
Thanks boet!
Great Video!
Thanks Jim!
im not a smartass.neither am i a hot rod builder but i love rats n hot rods. i have no idea what your doing but i love seeing myou design and get it right..i also love the fact if you get it wrong your man enough to admit and then correct it..power to you sir
Thanks for the support brother!
Great video looking great thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Really enjoying seeing you explain why you do it something a certain way. Helps give others a better understanding on how to proceed with thier build
Thanks man. To explain why and how and what is my mission!🙂
***" Vertical Down "*** should be the name of the Truck ! ! ! & just a thought ahead of time maybe having a tail gate with the center cut out or a peice of plexi glass so you could see the Watts Link threw it would be a cool idea ..... Have a Lucky one ...
Yes, I'm toying with the idea to leave the backend completely open.
Rat on!
Love your work
Thank you so much 😀
Awesome work 😁👍🇬🇧
Thanks
That special knife again. I love your welding table with all its gizmos, but i don’t have the room for even that size bench. I’d definitely take three of those knives though, because i’d always have misplaced TWO of them. 😊. Thanks as always. 👍👍
Haha, I sleep with it under my pillow😆
@@ratrodsafrica 😳. I would too!! 😆
Nice fix on the braces, should hold it for a long time
Thanks, hope so!🙂
Nice, it will soon be a rolker.
Another great video 👍👍
Thanks!
awsome work
Thanks!
Bonus💪
Very clever man Awesome truck
Thanks Ian 👍
Nice work Div and some good explanations of the table and attachments. Mine is 3/4" steel from an old fixture set-up table. It's 6' x 3' with machine slots in the edges and I've drilled and tapped holes for various attachments. When the attachments aren't used I screw the bolts up from underneath so they fill the holes.
Wow, nice table! I'm jealous 🙂
I like your use of PAD (plywood aided design)
Love my PAD🙂
Look forward to your video's they don't disappoint in content. Thank you
Glad you like them! Thanks.
Looking good
Thanks 👍
Get a set of gel knee pads for kneeling on the cement. They make all low work much better. They snap on and off in a jiffy and you won't be tripping over a board with foam stapled to it.👍
Yeah, guess I would need to get a set one of these days!
That's one sharp knife 😂
😆
Thanks for the top up Diff. Glad to see the strengthening of the rear. Looks great.
No problem 👍. Thanks!
Very nice
Thanks
Another good one Diff KEEP THEM COMING 👏 🇺🇲
Thanks Donnie. I will keep trying🙂
I'm starting to see why watts link suspension aren't common wow nicely done sir.
Thanks David, I will keep on keeping on🙂
I like it
Thanks!
I wondered what that table started out as 👍
I have been watching car builds for years, both on TV and You Tube. I am amazed how much you have achieved in such a short time. Having said that. I had no idea we were at episode 22, the time has flown by. Awesome stuff as usual.
Thanks Ian. Yes, time goes by too quick!
Everything came out awesome. Love your work!
Thanks so much!
I really enjoy your videos buddy
Glad you like them! Thanks boet
A bonus Video... awesome!!!!
Thanks brother! Occasionally I get into overdrive😆
😎👍🇺🇲
Great work.
Great work on the fab and great work on your video.
Always worth my time to watch.
I really miss building stuff from scratch.
Most of my work is restoration type. Not too much creativity in returning something to stock.
Nevertheless. Fantastic work.✌️
From the PNW Seattle WA USA.
Thanks. Yes, did the restore thing with my Dad for many years, so I hear you
Yes Sir , 👏👍🤓😎
3:33 In the States, we call a "giant upside-down router" a shaper.
We actually call it a spindle here. And I've heard the term shaper. But I thought not everyone would know that, so decided to keep it simple.
Mooi Div my bru 👍🏼
Dankie boet!
Man you do nice work
Thanks Glen!
Sunday on Wednesday! Love your work Div, you have singlehandedly converted me from an anal retentive restorer type to a rat appreciater. The quality of what you do clearly reflects your skills, experience and the thought you put into it. Mooi man!
Thanks Ekim. I used to do restorations with my father, so I know that world. But this rat stuff is so much more fun! No rules and busting yourself to find or import the correct part. Not to mention the cost of proper restos these days! Its my opinion though that rat rods should not be an excuse for bad workmanship or sloppy mechanics. Come join the rat boys!😄
@@ratrodsafrica Agree 100 percent. Quality and precision still apply. You want to do a good job at the end of the day. Just a camouflaged look. (An unassuming look, with stallions under the hood...lol)
@ishsiriram8286 Ja, rat rods gets a bad reputation because too many okes use it as an excuse for kak work!🙂
WOW
Jinne uncle jy bless ons met Baie videos die week,
Hou die blink kand bo!
Ek het nie meer 'n blink kant nie!😆
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
AWESOME, I was wondering how you would handle that drop, looks great.
Thanks
Naice work!
Love your creativity with tools. Once I finish this chassis I’m doing that’s on my to do list!!! 😊🤙🏻
Cool man! Thanks
Dif, I never see you stop for a smoko break, does your wife bring you a cuppa? Great idea to brace the rear, looking good. 12:25 😊
My shop is about 1/2 mile away from the house. Up a hill. Wifey rarely comes there. Which is a good thing generally...😂
👍🏻🍺
👨🎓🧑🎓👩🎓🧑🎓🧑🎓👨🎓👨🎓🧑🎓👩🎓👨🎓👨🎓🧑🎓👨🎓👩🎓👨🎓🧑🎓
ALL STUDENTS OF YOUR KNOWLEDGE !
👍
✌
Hello Div, great to see you during the week. The Truck is coming together very well, nice work. Be good and stay safe my friend. 👍
Hey Terrence. Yes, occasionally I get some speed😄
You need to get you a Lyft, so you can raise it up, higher So it’s easier to weld
Yeah! Except my roof is too low😪
Thank you for letting us join you in your shop. You welding table is very impressive as are the clamps you mad, simple but effective. The truck is coming right along.
You are welcome Tom! And thanks!
Wow two videos in 3 days. Did you pull an all nighter?
Too old for that nonsense, but occasionally I build up some speed😅
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !"
Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ."
Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!"
Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..."
Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!"
Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky."
Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction."
Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
How does the cut out on the gusset stop corrosion? I understand in fabing you radius certain right angle cuts to relieve stress. But corrosion? Because water could pool up in the joint?
Yes, typically in horizontal or upside down applications to allow drainage and avoid pooling. And of course to relieve weld stress
Me pregunto si piensas hacer algún refuerzo a esa estructura en U en sentido longitudinal, me refiero a un posible impacto desde atrás que la haga colapsar. I wonder if you plan to make any reinforcement to that U-shape structure longitudinally, I mean a possible impact from behind that makes it collapse.
I think it will be fine. A rear impact will destroy many things!
You old miser, ha gotta save where you can. Man with all the 4 link and watts link this thing will corner like a black mamba, hey good name.
Oh yes, I'm a specialist miser!😆 Maybe the blue Mamba, cause it aint black...
You dont find magnets work quicker than clamps eh? Fo golding stuff like your brackets square.
Guess its hard to teach an old dog new tricks! Just like my clamps, no chance off stuff moving...
FN A
These gussets should prevent any twisting at the rear of the frame while looking good at the same time.
Thanks. Yes, that's exactly the idea
Окалина руки не обжигает? Почему без перчаток работаешь?
Haven't worn gloves in over 40 years, like to feel what I'm doing
Just get one of those lipstick or the belt 3 feet
No idea what you talking about broo
Where ya gonna put that second engine you will need to haul all that steel down the road? : )

😄
Started watching your channel 2-3 days ago. Can't believe you have only 18K subscribers. You Tube is full of idiots with 100,000+ subscribers and you only have 18K. What a world we live in! I have no idea what is your background but you seem to be a talented educator, great fabricator and craftsman. You have a cool sense of humor, cool accent to the American ear. The camera work and your post production is great. To me, your show is on par with well financed million dollars productions running on Discovery channel. You just need a pretty blonde with big tits and a catchy name like - The African King of Rat Rods or some such sh*t and you can be a reality show star.
You should find some savvy dude to get you some sponsors from US. Your show deserves much wider audience!
Thanks brother, appreciate your kind words! Like you said, it's the world we live in. The masses want glitz, glamor and sensation. You must have the fake blonde, expensive kit, big dollars, fake perfection and a big mouth. But I'm just an old geezer in a forest who will continue to do me, I'm cool with that🙂
Sorry, I hate this auto correct. I was saying one of those small lifts that only goes 3 feet in the air.
It’s going to be a shame covering up that chassis 😂😂
I'm seriously considering leaving the back end completely open...
