- According to Janek Gwizdala, singing along while playing really helps creating more musical phrases. And it doesn't just apply to playing solos, he also mumbles and grunts along as he plays those funkin' and groovin' bass lines.

Thanks Janek, This is a wonderful lesson. I find it pretty hard to play fiddle and sing without drooling all over myself, but for me the bow sings and where I slur, bounce , swell, and pulse or stop the bow is how I phrase. I try to teach this and muscle memory to all my students.
come to vegas !
Great stuff!
omg at 1:35 i lost my mind too, just like the way i heard G. Benson first time!
@malachilli Its a reflection. There's glass behind him.
While it's a very interresting approach and something everyone should try, you don't really need to actually sing for it to work. Instead you can definately picture yourself singing or playing notes in your head, which may make you look stupid but won't piss as many people. It helps me a lot to transcribe stuff, write songs, or even practice without an instrument.
@malachilli It's someone moving their arm in the reflection of the glass by the looks of it.
holy shit, the more i see this guy the more i dig it. i mean he is a superb musician, but his views on the bass guitar make complete sense. i myself sometimes sing my bass lines while we play live. however sense i usually have a mic in front of me (usually 5 inches away from my face in some small coffee shop haha), i can't always utilize this technique. it makes perfect sense tho, if you play bass i suggest you give this a go
Beer and vodka are essential words. Nice...
@malachilli dam man u got great eyes... yeah wtf is that it looks like smoke!
