- In the past, the C63 AMG has been the most outspoken of the coupes, all shouting noise and slides, compared to the M3s precision. This one has had careful and extensive suspension modifications under the watch of Steve Dinan, a well known builder of cars for both the street and the race track. He liked the C63 engine, but thought it needed some help turning. Does it finally have the corner manners to match the power?

Loving the drives Zack. I drove the new C63S (stock) at Road America last week and its clear that AMG has figured out how to make these cars handle. They still have way more torque than necessary to retain the personality so corner exits must be respected haha

How does Mercedes get their turbo V8’s so good? Sounds amazing and spools up like crazy. This engine, even stock, is an ANIMAL.
Joe Tacchino amazing they can pull it off, Ferrari just can’t seem to do it.
Audi did it too. both 4.0 v8 with turbos within the V of the engine, exhaust port comes out where the intake usually is, maximum spool, etc.
BMW should take note
CylinderHeadE60 ferrari engine sound “bland” because its a flatplane crank, but 3.9 v8 is good engine, thats why it won engine of the year year after year

Man I used to be BMW customer (even I still have my very first old e46 330i) but once I drove one of those V8 biturbo and the AMG feel… bye BMW.

I've spent a LOT of time in a straight piped C63s. I have a clip on my channel from that.
That motor is something special. Truly, truly, truly something special. The sound is out of this world. And that transmission is REALLY good.
It's so raunchy and you just need no excuse to just run to the top of 2nd just to hear that motor anytime you're driving it.
the A-Class 1,5 CDi in Europe sounds waay way wayyyy better.....
The current 63 AMG engine is my absolute favorite engine. Torque, power and oh my god the sound!
M3s are more agile but the AMGs are pure fun all the time, from 0 to 250km/h.
I’ve driven it in a couple of C63/E63’s and every single time i fall in love again.
What about the 1M modified to 487 hp?
Theres really not that much in them anymore. On a track M car is like 1 tenth quicker. But on road M cars especially new ones are to stiff and the damping isn't that good. Set up for smooth tracks to much which roads especially in the uk arent so you wont pull away from a new AMG.

The windshield on a lot of new cars are really cramped, and its hard to get the camera in the right place with the ballhead mounts I use. I also prefer the view from the top versus inside. But it depends on the car, the day, the speed. ZK

Gahd I miss my C63....I had no complaints with that 7-spd MCT either. Mine did get a bit squirrelly under hard braking from high speed too, but it sure as hell stopped and pulled the skin away from your face.

best car you can buy brand new for under 100K, the interior, the sound (if you drive/own one you know how good it sounds), the road presence, straight line capabilities. its a freeway missile, not limited to 155 MPH like M cars are, can easily exceed over 180MPH so really only supercars can beat it. and of course V8>V6 anyday that goes for Audis new RS5 too, dont nearly sound as good
BT13571 💯 I got stage 2 turbo on mine with downpipes. Making 700hp to the wheel. It still drive like stock and still quite in comfort mode. But when you stomp it you still get that brutal feel. Best of both world. Sound, tech, interior, engine. Plus people talk about how M cars are better handling. But you’ll never reach the c63s limit on public road, not even close. It’s only on track but really only 1% track their car. I mean who tracks their daily?

All around a much better overall package considering you’re spending over 75K for both brand new, yet the M4 Interior is outdated, has a horrible V6 engine lol, shouldn’t even be compared to the C63. The M4 is better matchup for the C43 with the 6 cylinder biturBo. Only advantage M4 has is the DCT an lighter weight.

There are bunch of spherical bearings (caster, camber, toe, etc.) on carbahn's website.
When you want an M5 engine in a M3. C63s is your solution. I personally traded in my F80 M3 for a C63s after testing one. Yes the M3 are fast and more fun around track… but seriously often would I go… but for everyday city/hwy driving the C63s surely better than M3.
6 minutes before actual driving footage, thats too much imo. Could do some of that talking while driving like Matt used to.

I've always said AMG is an acronym for "American Muscle, by Germany". Big-horsepower V8s typically with less-than-satisfactory tire/suspension performance? Sounds about right to me. Very cool cars, I'm glad they exist, but I wouldn't want to pay the maintenance premium that comes with anything German.
Softness is good, it's a daily streetcar, and on some tracks the M156 was faster than the competition. The V8 punch cannot be beat

@@deekaneable I have heard the 4.0 from the outside. And have driven the old 5.5 tt and to me at least the noise isnt pretty although it does have some volume. I'm also not a huge fan of the farting pops on the downshifts. Just a preference but to me the sound is just to one dimensional. The 6.3 however has a nice sound

I think that the 4.0 is impressive in the sense that it's pretty much performs at the same performance levels as the 5.5 . I think I'd prefer the 5.5 due to it being more motor than boost and far more under stressed. I mean you get the power and torque identical to the 5.5 but unlike the 5.5 you can get it in a C class. Dont get me wrong both great cars. And yah aftermarket exhausts can fix just about any motor in the sound department.

Its in no way a dual clutch. It has a clutch stack imersed in fluid, like a motorcycle, that takes the place of the torque converter. Everything else about it is conventional auto.

Yep, is multi-clutch, not DCT. The new trans, the 9-speed, is also a multi-clutch but not a DCT. Even thought a DCT, technically, has multiple clutches, because there's more than one....whoa. ZK

Smaller turbo engines are less efficient than big displacement engines. They have less thermal energy and waste more in burned fuel. My heads and cam 6.2 gets better gas mileage than most twin turbo v6 engines and v8 and makes more power.

Dude mercedes always cost more than bmw. You can't compare this car to the m3 cs, it is the compare to the m3 comp package and the c63s coupe comes in at 90k average while the m3 comp package is cheaper at 76-80 loaded nicely. Also the c63s is much more rough riding than the m3 or the even softer m3 comp package. I love how you say things that don't make sense.
According to Mercedes.com, the 2019 C63S starts at $77000. The 2018 BMW M3 CS starts - key word is starts- at $98000. The M4 CS MSRP starts at $104,000. You can get a regular M3 for under $70k, yes, but I was comparing listed MSRP to listed MSRP. ZK
@@TheSmokingTire What im trying to say is this car, the c63"S" should be compared to the BMW m3 Competition package not the "CS" which is a different car and yes at least 100k. When comparing the m3 comp package to the comparable c63s you find the c63s is much more expensive when it comes to buying one. Mercedes doesn't have a "CS" comparable which would be a black series maybe, that doesn't exist yet.
Even a base m3 vs base c63, the Mercedes is gonna be more expensive. Also the amgs are always rougher to drive(suspensions are stiff, even in comfort mode). The m3 Competition package made the m3 more compliant, but also better handling although the base m3 wasn't that rough to begin with. The m3 vs the amg, the m3 will always be more compliant. I had all: m3 stock, m3 comp pack, and c63s coupe.

Ok why are you being insulting? I have owned 3 f80/2 m3s4 including non comp dct, comp manual and also the M4cs. At the same time as the m3 comp manual I had a c63s coupe in white. Since I’ve owned plenty of cars including a g82 manual m4.
The c63s was a much rougher car on the road, and the transmission was really harsh when shifting sometimes. I liked it but i didn’t like it more than my m3

Thanks I take a Challenger Hellcat standard with more horsepower than this Benz which will have reliability issues and then will cost a fortune to fix. Hellcat is solid and can be fixed anywhere for not too much. Plus Challenger looks sinister, this Benz looks like a used bar of soap
