Military Boss Warns Britain ‘Not Prepared’ For War - Urges To ‘Train' Citizen Army

- Britain should “train and equip” a “citizen army” to ready the country for a potential land war, the head of the Army has said.
But General Sir Patrick Sanders, the outgoing Chief of the General Staff (CGS), said even that would be “not enough” as he pointed to allies in eastern and northern Europe “laying the foundations for national mobilisation”.
In a speech on Wednesday, the military top brass said increasing Army numbers in preparation for a potential conflict would need to be a “whole-of-nation undertaking”.
The comments, first reported by the Daily Telegraph, are being read as a warning that British men and women should be ready for a call-up to the armed forces if Nato goes to war with Russia.

Britain ditched its own people for newcomers- maybe should have thought that all the way to its logical conclusion. Why would a Briton fight for a sold off Britain ? Im not sure why it would be given to the Czech Republic (if anything it should have autonomy). Since its geographical location is slap bang in the middle of 5 countries (Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Poland and Ukraine) it wouldn't make sense to divide it amoung 5 when the locals consider themselve non of the above.

The issue is that our armed forces are being reduced to a local force and along with it our ability to fight anything. You cannot train these days and bring up a military force over a short time. Today armed forces are highly trained . We must increase our armed forces to well over the current numbers.

The Houthi pirates attacked the Marlin Luanda. This tanker is registered as being Oceonix Services Ltd, a UK registered company. It seems like the Houthi (Iranian) pirates started this with the aim of shutting down the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea which is how this British ship and others get to the Suez Canal and how the UK gets all of it's oil and petroleum products from the Middle East. Coincidentally, it's also the route about 85% of the UK's cargo is shipped from India, China and the far east.
This shipping route is not as important to the US (as it is energy self-sufficient and accesses the far east across the Pacific) as it is to the UK. Strangely enough, the naval assets trying to keep that critical (to the UK) sea lane open are almost all from the US (I think the UK has one warship deployed there) including, recently, as many as two super carriers and all their escourts.
So to summarize: the US didn't start it, the UK needs it, the US is shouldering the burden of protecting it because the UK can't (or should I say won't) take responsibility and make the investment to step up to protect it. All so you can stay warm and snug with plenty of petrol and ask why the US started war in other countries and brings it to your door.

My son was in the RAF and left about eight years ago, he said it will take over thirty years to bring the air force back to anything like what it once was. You can't simply flick a switch and have qualified air crew and engineers, it takes time and lots of money. On the subject of money, where is all the dividend from the defense cuts?
