    Venting matters a lot for the toilet, don't skip looking into the vent runs, i thought it was just a few feet but i guess not. You can also replace the flange with a closet bend flange if you need to save height or offset closet flange if you are over a joist. Remember to keep a foot or whatever code is on each side of the toilet and allow wall clearance for the tank.

    If you need to move your toilet to more than 5ft from the vent it was using, you can use a wye off the toilet drain line and do a u-turn around and tap into the vent in the wall. Just keep in mind that your vent will need to tap in at least 6” above the top of the sink (assuming it’s the highest fixture)

    Awesome helpful video. 1 plumbing question for, How would this work if you need to move or add an additional drainline pipe with exterior footing beams and interior beams on first level/floor with slab on grade foundation with post tension cables running both directions. Would love to see a demo explanation video on this.

    I want to put a bathtub where the toilet currently is and move the toilet 6 feet directly across the floor to where the current shower and drain are. Will it be possible to use the existing shower pipes for water and drainage for the toilet? Thank you for the easy to understand graphics in your videos.

    I am considering moving my toilet from one side of the bathroom to the other - about 5 feet away from its original drain. Do I need to install a vent pipe at the new drain location or will I be able to cap off the old drain and have the existing vent work effectively?

    • @gregvancom

      You would need to check with your local building department, but I think you can have a 3 inch drain for toilet 5 feet away from your vent.

    I’m wanting to move a toilet over about 1 foot. But my home has post tension concrete. Any advice?

      I did some research and would contact an engineer before cutting into slab. I've never done this before and would be concerned about cutting cables and repairing concrete.

    I am planning on moving my toilet to where my sink is and my sink to where my toilet is (roughly 6.5ft I need to move the toilet because the previous plumber cut my joist in half to install the toilet... I have some pictures I could email you but I can't find your email address. I am doing most of the work myself so any suggestions on the best way to go about it are greatly appreciated.

    What if you just need to move toilet over a handful of inches to the right or left?

    • @gregvancom
      @gregvancom  Před rokem +1

      Maybe an offset toilet flange will work, other wise you're going to need to move pipe.

    That’s why they make tools to cut out old pipe pieces and reuse fittings. You don’t need all those extra couplers 😂

    How big of a pain in the ass is it to change the drain location instead of just the pipe?
