Samsung Refrigerator Troubleshooting - How to Clear Error Codes, Error List + Samsung Forced Defrost

- If you have a Samsung refrigerator with an interface panel similar to this one and are having error codes pop up on the screen, or having other troubles with the refrigerator, I hope this video helps you to restore your fridge to good-working order. This video is part 1 of 2 involving the Samsung French-Door refrigerator, and some issues you have with it. I decided to publish this video first, as the other is much longer and comprehensive, and you need this video to understand/run modes for the other video.

This video helps you fix the 14-E Error Code lockout (a common Icemaker fault), as well as fix Samsung OF code, among others. Both errors lock you out of using your fridge, so they are insanely aggravating. Other codes are addressed such as the Samsung Refrigerator 2E code, Samsung Refrigerator 4E code, and many others.
Additionally, the forced defrost mode can help you defrost the Samsung icemaker. Many Samsung icemakers need defrosted to actually open up - I wish I had included this bit of info in the video itself - I'll try to get that on another video when I get another Samsung in.
Remember: If your refrigerator has dirty condenser coils, it could be failing to cool this Samsung refrigerator properly, costing you a lot of money as well as why the ice maker won't automatically operate - consider buying an appliance cleaning kit to prevent your appliance from an early failure. The appliance repair guy wanted $85 just to come out and started talking about replacing the main board due to non-climate controlled storage. The reefer was flashing E 40. Have a samsung slim style frenchstyle stainless steel without ice dispenser on the door 32 wide.. Not cooling how can I rest this light work flashing no code fixing to clean the coils. W can I do next co. Press or fan working outside
Thank you for being generous and knowledgeable ! I did do a Forced Defrost mode . Worked great! Afterwards I put in Forced Freeze but the beeping would not stop even after moving through all procedures. I finally unplugged and plugged it back in! It stopped the beeping and went back into regular mode. I love this refrigerator even with the condenser not working well and forcing me to go into Forced Defrost!

Thank you! I was able to clear the error codes by watching this video. I had called Samsung help line and he had me press 2 different buttons which did not work. This saved me calling a repairman.

I know this is an old video but I just wanted to thank you! We just had a power cut and because of that the fridge/freezer was displaying error codes. Its fusterating because one dumb move can ruin your food... I think that the day before shooting this when we were testing this fridge at my shop (I sell used appliances so we get our hands on a lot of product)... I did that. Took me a little moment or two to realize what was going on and thought "Hey, I need to make a video on that..."
Along with all the other modes, too. The forced defrost mode is really a big one here because it helps troubleshoot a lot of garbage these fridges create.

Bought your kit but needed 3 tubes for the back of the unit, and loved the video, had no trouble at all getting it done and making the heater wires the correct lenght so there was not any extra wiring to wire tie. My only problem was on the 3M foil with glue backs the two small strips back came off perfectly but eh big bottom pieces the glue had dried out so it pulled off all the glue completlely but i had some spray contact glue to use in its place and all is good so far. Forced Defrost before i put it all back together and both original and new heaters worked great.
I came here to say that Samsung's help and brochures and phone number (it was for cell phone help!) was awful, but this video solved everything! Thank you!
I thank you for this video. I put it in RD after I received 22E error code. I ordered the heater kit from you. This unit was made in 2015 and I bought it that year. It's a POS. I will do my best to repair it. I will eventually need an ice maker too. Thanks again.

This is a great video without breaking up the fridge into piece like many other video. I just found 22E that is Refrigerator Fan Error. Still need to know what is next.
Thank you for the excellent video. Solved my frustrating problem before calling a repairman. Had error codes 40E and 39E for the icemaker. Also learned from your video how to keep that compartment from freezing up too much by setting the defrost code, instead of unplugging and using the hair dryer. I have given up on using the icemaker, but don't want the ice in the compartment to build up again.
The icemakers on these are garbage. But to be honest, most in-refrigerator ice makers are. I think the only one that isn't pants-on-head bad are LG Space Savers (I got a video coming out soon for one of those). But yes, 39E and 40E codes are very common, and hard to fully fix without rebuilding the entire icemaker assembly.
I had to go to a counter top ice maker. I would really like to find refrigerators with NO ice maker. They are the main cause of reliability issues. I have totally rebuilt mine several times and within months it freezes up again.
Hi. Great video! We just replaced our fan as it stopped cooling altogether. Have had issues with the icemaker from the very beginning. Now it continues to blink e39. It will reset temporarily by unplugging but we can’t get it to reset to access our control panel

@@bensappliancesandjunk I have a Samsung french 4 door rf32fmqdbsr refrigerator that recently started making a humming noise that stops when doors opened. I've tried the defrosting, cleaning dust from back of fridge, emptied ice bucket and nothing. Any recommendations?
@@Zugeily1981 bypass door alarm by watching my newest Samsung video . Once bypassed, see if the noise is coming from behind back of evap plate. If so, its the evap fan

Hi Ben, Thanks for the thorough video. I own the rf20hfenbsr samsung fridge. The panel looks different from your video so I cannot quite translate it to my unit... After a longer than usual power outage the error codes came on. I pressed the Power Freeze and the Power Cool simultaneously (several times or 10 seconds and more) but the panel did not respond. The best I can tell the code is for #1 and #10. The icemaker was removed when we installed the unit b/c there is no water at the location. So that partially makes sense... As far as I can tell the cooling is normal. But the compressor has been a bit loud lately. Is there a technique for resetting the panel when it is not responding? I would like to be able to read the temp and use the power freeze option when Im putting up summer veggies. Thanks!
Specific buttons to do as you did? My fridge doesn't have a HUD outside, its got a keypad inside. What would be the equivalent location in my case?

Thanks for this. Quick question: looking for defrost mode, I accidentally held down top left and middle right buttons. It displayed two digit numbers on the left and right that could be cycled through. What did I pull up?

We have a Samsung French door model RF263BEAESR and are having roughly the same problem your videos describe: water in the bottom with a good portion of frozen water behind the back panel, mostly near the FF evap fan. Our RF263BEA has never shown an error code so I have a related question about the self-diagnostic feature in those refrigerators. Is it necessary to run a “manual” diagnostic check to troubleshoot for example, a frozen evaporator fan or defrost thermistor, or will the system sense that type of fault and show a code automatically?

Hello, do you have any tips about a 41 e code. When the refrigerator turns on, it give the pc er code. If you hold down the top buttons it then gives you the 41 e code and will not do anything. I have checked the recommended wiring harness connection above the door. Thanks for any help.
My fridge somehow went into FF mode and started defrosting. I searched how to reset it from intermet but non help. I was at the point to call a service repair but there is a 1 month wait and giving me an estimate of $350 without talking to anyone in person. Cancelled that request and tried searching answers from the internet again. Luckily I found your youtube video, although my samsung fridge has a different display from your video, I tried holding up the 2 left buttons following your video (cool select and power freezer on mine) and it took me out of FF mode or demo mode. I can hear the motor running again. Thank you for saving me the frustration and stress having a full fridge out of service.

Hi thanks for the video! I attempted to do the last thing you mentioned holding down the Freezer and Energy Saver down for 8 seconds to get the fridge out of Demo mode but it still went right back to displaying OF OF for both fridge and freezer. Did I do something wrong?

Question: I own a Samsung French door refrigerator without an ice dispenser. It only has the ice maker in the freezer section. The digital information appears in a line of readouts in the top of the refrigerator section. Can this particular setup be foreced to go into defrost? Thanks. I need help. I have Samsung RS267TDRS, side by side. In control panel ,there are only 2 modes on both side. On left side, lighting, and in bottom Freezer. On right side , Energy saver on top and Fridge on bottom. Recently, The control panel is blinking and show 34 degree on Fridge side and on left side does not show any temp, however is set for -2 degree . It does not show any error code, however, fridge side temp is not cooling enough. Question: pressing top button on both sides for 8 seconds will reset properly and work better.? I have a samsung rf28hfedbsr that has been unplugged for about a year. I just went ahead and plugged it in but I am having some issues with it. It is getting too cold, and the thermostat for both the fridge and the freezer is stuck at 80. When I enter diagnostic mode I get error codes 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 14, and 15. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks
