I honestly wished this was a main series. We've been following Ash and Pikachu for decades now and it would be interesting to see series on other characters during different time periods to better flesh out the world

I started to hate Ash in the Johto seasons because I felt that he was stealing the spotlight from characters based on the game protagonists. Ash is based on Red, Jimmy is based on Gold, Marina is based on Kris, etc. (Edit): Brendan made a couple cameo appearances in a couple Pokemon movies, May traveled with Ash in his Hoenn adventures, Lucas had one cameo in the Zoroark movie, Dawn traveled with Ash in Sinnoh, Ethan appeared in one of the Pokemon movies battling Ash and Pikachu with his Donphan, Lyra shows up in the Diamond & Pearl anime, Hilbert and Hilda do not show up in the anime or movies at all, and neither does Calem (Ash wears his blue jacket in the Kalos saga), but Serena travels with Ash in Kalos. Elio and Selene do not appear in the anime, and neither does Victor or Gloria.
There’s a tiny event that’s activated once you get the Shiny Baneful Fox Mask in game. Going to the gate leading to Prelude Beach, you’ll find a man. We don’t get to get his name, but I think we all can presume that he is Alec. He states that he started gathering medicinal herbs on Hisui 10 years ago. In the web series, we have a time stamp of 3 years before Alec came back to Hisui. I think Past Alec must have been around the same age as the player: 15. Around the time he comes back: 18. Now around the time the player falls to Hisui: His late 20s. Hisuian Snow overall is one of the more intriguing web series Pokémon has put out recently. In conjunction with most of Pokétoons more notable animations, Hisuian Snow is the only animation series that’s been this insightful into an all original character’s life, even so much as to make him canon to the lore. The animation, the scenery, the tension, all were beautifully crafted and added to one the most refreshing games Pokémon has put out in a long time. I also love how Cyllene was the previous Security Corps Captain, but went through with heading the Survey Corps due to Alec pushing the needle.
This is the guy that says he's a doctor, right? I met him after beating the main game, before the last episode of Hisuian Snow came out. I don't think that the Shiny Fox Mask is a prerequisite. When I first met him, I thought he was a reference to Looker, a reoccurring character in the series who resembles Doctor Who. But after Hisuian Snow, I think it's more likely that he's supposed to be Alec. Though it would be much easier to say that for certain if he had a unique character model, or at the very least, he wore that same Fox Mask.

I guess I just wasn’t keen enough to pick up on a new NPC… Even then, it’s odd that they would implement an NPC that correlates to a web series, giving the proper context to their presence (if at all), about three months after the game’s release. I guess finding out about the Pokémon doctor at the same time of the 3rd episode coming out was a big coincidence.
I love how it shows that before the Survey Corps is created and therefore before Laventon even arrives that Cyllene was the captain of the Sercurity Corps before being promoted to be the captain of the new Corps. Also love how it shows Cyllene's Abra being one of the pokemon taken care of at the end
I just love how it's understood that Zoroark is top dog in those woods. Like, even the enraged Alpha Garchomp that ate a STAB Ice Punch like it was nothing didn't want that smoke once Zoroark showed up

I think that Cyllene’s side plot was interesting in the third episode. She isn't yet a captain of of the Galaxy Team's Survey Corps, only a member of the safety guard, but is on her way to becoming this captain. Likewise, the third episode is the story of how Cyllene met his Abra and at the end of the episode, Cyllene, who is holding the wooden Pokeball, decides not to keep Abra inside the ball.
1. Zorua was adorable baby fox 2. Well animated how scary the space-time distortion, and Alpha pokemon are. Something what the game simply can't show you. 3. Zorua's parent (zoruark) and the other two zorua were great too. Just like you said, a ghost encounter has to be quicky and scary before the ghost disappears. It also cearly show you how dangerous kitzune can be in japanese myth. Even tho the parent didn't liked humans, it still didn't touched the child while he was with it's puppy, and only gave out a warning before it was gone. I don't know what this means. Why it did not attacked when he first met with it's puppy. Usually animal parents tent to be agressive towards strangers to protect their offspring. But maybe..that zouark sensed this child is not a threat. Anyway, in Japanese version there are 3 pictures in the credit. Each of them show what is happening after this event. 1. Adament trying to learn how to play the flute from his big sister, but sadly he just can't do it. Now I understand why in the game his big sister played the flute to call that Deer lol 2. irida is getting that nice red hair bow as a gift from that woman who raised up the Noble doggo. 3. And in the end, Laventern professor introduce himself to the Corps as the starters follow him behind.
I'm im correct zoruark didn't attack the kid due to him not fearing zorua or anything. do keep in mine i only think this because at the beginning, it says that it was the way it is because humans treated it poorly, but thats only going off my memory.
At 6:19 I didn't even notice Volo when I watched the series for myself I knew he had to be there cause the rifts but I did not know where. I'd almost say you just playing the music without me noticing him the first time made the PTSD so much worse.
It’s weird if you look at Alec’s face when he’s crying he looks angry initially; however, if you tilt your screen he actually just looks scared and worried, but I could see why you’d think he was angry with the zorua.
This series definitely works best when looked at together. I think that's a big reason why there wasn't AS much discussion around it. Also, it's just an overall DIFFERENT feeling series than say Pokemon Evolutions which are anthology series that has each episode telling events that we know from the games. It's definitely not for everyone generally but I think any fans of Legends Arceus can appreciate what's being shown here. And I love how this basically ties to the events of the games themselves (a prelude I suppose) AND via the Mystery Gift thing, we can also get that same Shiny Zoroark mask. So now WE can be Alec (or at least we can reenact certain moments ha ha) Also, ALPHA GARCHOMP WAS TERRIFYING (even just how it was moving around when it running around fighting the Abamadnoe and chasing the humans when it spotted them). If you weren't already terrified of this pseudo legendary land shark, you MIGHT now...
Yeah, I liked the idea of it being in the same universe as the game, but happening before the protagonist arrives. Also, it was cool seeing Cyllene in the Security Corps outfit instead of the Survey Corps.
Oh my god, I can't believe they have **hardcore piano music plays** in this series! **Hardcore piano music plays** is my favorite character in the whole game!
They should make a full animated show about Legends Arceus or remake the story in the Pokemon Adventures manga, because I really want to see more of this era
It is such a huge missed opportunity that we didn't get a PLA arc in the manga. I get why, the staff of the manga already struggle to keep up with the main games, and they needed to get to S&V, but man, it would've been so cool.
This goes to show you how great Pokémon series can be with Evolution, Generation, Twilight wings, and now Hisuian Snow. This is what we want in an anime just a lil bit more mature.
I like that they did that as a tie in, but I would like if Legends Arceus could continue getting more little updates here and there. Definitely agree it the mask could have been a little event.
There is an event! After getting it, of you go to prelude beach there's a guy who talks about how he gathered herbs for like, 10 years. By what another comment said, hed be in his 20's by your time in hisui.
God I find Hisuian Snow to be amazing. Since Legends Arceus brought up the era in which human and Pokémon coexistence isn't yet established, I just really found the Hisuian lore to be some of my favourite stories in Pokémon entirely. I say the following in simple bias however: The people of Jubilife Village, or rather the people who came to Hisui were all practically irresponsible of their own actions. When it came to the story of Zoroark, it was clear that it was because of human actions as to why the Zoroark became hostile, yet the humans blamed the ideal of being unable to coexist with Pokémon as a means to push the blame onto Pokémon itself. It's quite glad that Legends Arceus characters were at least able to establish the chance at coexistence, even if most characters establishing the chance are from the present day, such as the main character or Ingo, and our protagonist of HS, Alec. It's just a good feeling to see that the Hisuian era of Pokémon ended up turning to the present era which established coexistence between people and Pokémon instead of separating them.
I already loved Zorura and Zoroark, plus their other forms. But makes me understand them more. I really like this. And makes me want to get a shiny Zorura even more.
Imagine if the game had on opening similar to this short series instead of "lol this kid fell out of the sky with a weird cellphone." Everything about the game's story would have been so much more gripping and intruiging.
I absolutely LOVED Pokémon Hisuian Snow! I wish that it was longer with more episodes instead of just a short web series because the visuals and art and animation were BEAUTIFUL! I hope for more amazing series in the future and I hope that we don’t get disappointed with the Pokémon SV anime!
Cool story: i was so ecited to meet a zorua, and first time i ever went to the alabaster icelands i kept hearing the shiny sound and when i realized it was under ground. when i finally found the source i rounded the corner and there was a full odds shiny zorua the first time i ever met one. so when i saw this i was instantly attached. felt like what happened to me
after years of being a poor child and never having a nintendo console. this mini series reminded me just how much i always loved pokemon. it got me to get a couple friends together for some pokemon showdown stuff and after the introduction to the game that was i finally pulled the trigger and bought a switch and Legends Arceus. 20 hours in and ive got 190 pokedex entries 10/10, Palkia, and Dialga and im getting ready to farm up my dream team while i get the last few mons. 11 hours in i even found my first shiny which wasnt even a part of an outbreak. it was a beautifly though so maybe not the best but ill be sure to always keep it at least in pokemon home :) .
I liked this anime the most, instead of loud anime guy has best bud or something, it's a child who makes friend with a guy and never sees him again until a short glimpes, and the credits song was really cool
The studio behind this and the previous Pokemon anthology series (Origins, Journeys) should just make a full-on Pokemon movie. The animation is so clean!
The first thing that really grabbed me was seeing the Zorua trying to form an apparition. In the main anime, (a Unovan) Zorua took on other appearances by simply doing a bright flippy-flip, so the prospect of this Pokémon manifesting illusions in a more unique, involved, and characterized way, really appealed to me. In this initial meeting of boy and kit, Zorua is explicitly not very good at being scary, so I thought there was going to be a plot element of it endeavoring to pull off an effective Illusion. Yeah, that never did really come back.
i can say with certainty that this is by far THE best pokemon anime, by not getting too dumb down and offering a more mature tone, it surpass any other entry ever put out in the serie, while origin is fun, it doesnt bring anything new to the franchise, as of right now, i hope the pokemon company releases more anime like this, we are seriously lacking good stories not told from the perspective of the eternal and boring child Ash
I feel like this animation was the perfect length honestly, I just wish we had gotten other Hisui short stories like it. It’s basically a Legend in its own rite, and you can really clearly imagine the storytelling narration that could overlay this of the tale being passed down through generations as a way to teach kids how to form mutual trust and partnerships with pokemon. It also explains some of the more unnatural moments like the howl Alec does at the end - it’s offsetting if you take it as something that he actually did, but it’s such a solid way for a storyteller to end a retelling (especially in relation to ghost stories, where they want to give you something to listen for)
"Why do you care about Pokemon?" Because we can make a Pokemillion dollars in licensing off of them, that's why. I enjoyed watching Hisuian Snow, and I'd say my favourite part of it was probably the fact that it's a prequel to Legends Arceus, which I really wasn't expecting.
It should of been a movie, especially after that little add part you did at the end which was phenomenal it really gives you a feel of hype, also you go to film school or something? Seriously that add thing edit you did was amazing.
My interpretation of the ep 2 scene was that alec and zorua's situation was a mirror to what had happened before between humans and pokemon. Eith alec picking himself up signaling the change between them that would come as a result of their choices
Just watched yesterday it was awesome Just notice some NPC you have recognized from the Ledgends Arceus game was Zisu from the Security Corps and Volo from Ginko Guild made brief Appearance and also notice Captain Cyllene Uniform is Red in the Ledgends Arceus its Blue love that.
This series really captures the feeling of wild pokemon as wild. We were always told that Garchomp are powerful and vicious hunters and this series shows that perfectly.
Now I really loved this little series but I am a bit disappointed at part 3 mainly cus I wanted to see a proper reunion. At least more then what we got which was him seeing zoroark while blacking out and just the hair. It’s still fantastic, just saying a small thing I’d rather see Like an idea I had would be it plays out as normal but when he goes and finds mask he sees it, picks it up and looks at it and after a moment of looking at it he looks elsewhere and sees zoroark standing there at a distance. We get a good shot of them and maybe cut to a further away shot where we see the two looking at each other. He gives a small smile at seeing them again and zoroark m’s reaction could be whatever positive really. After a moment it walks off then proceeds as normal. It’s simple but I think it would’ve been effective
It makes me sad that the Pokemon anime is not as interesting... It doesn't even need to be this beautifully animated... I just wish they would ditch Ash and write a new story for each generation. I know its a lot to ask for but Pokemon is the highest grossing media franchise in the world. They have the finances for sure... And these shorts like Evolutions, Generations and Hisuian snow are so interesting... Also: I remember seeing Volo in the background and I got super excited but also sad knowing that this will be the only place where I see him animated...
Absolutely loved this series. Even though I'm usually against the replacement of Ash Ketchum, I'd love to see Alec continue as a main character and his journey through an ancient Pokemon world.
This anime shorr was fucking good, it had such a good story even tho we didnt see much, and the pokemons even seemed scary and the animations are splendid i just wished we had a pokemon show like this
People wanting animation like hisuian snow in the main anime forget that they look nicer BECAUSE they’re shorts. If you want something like that in the main anime, it’s going to be hell for the staffs to pump it out for a weekly show.
I loved your explained of each short I think the 2nd one was the best out of the three I hope we see more from this series maybe someday like Twilight with each character.
Twilight skies was great hisuian snow was even better and poketoon is great too. Really appreciate the shorts they make but would be great to see idk 5x20mins story driven content to tie in with main series games especially more all age rather than child orientated
When Zoroark warded off α!Garchomp, there’s a short shot (not featured in this video) where it runs away a few paces before suddenly taking off. I wasn’t aware when watching the animation that Garchomp could fly… It was especially jarring because the animation didn’t really sell me on the idea that the shark with legs _should_ be able to fly. It was super uncanny, he just started schmoving like Superman. Is Garchomp part psychic? Did I forget that as well? I guess I really won’t see Garchomp the same way again..
There's probably a lot more they'd have to do to make a full series in terms of figuring out where and when to air it so that it doesn't compete with the main series anime, so they figure contracting shorts like this works better? I still think there could be two Pokemon series going at the same time, especially if one was a set 12 episodes and was distributed, say, Netflix only? I'd be up for it, but not sure how things go behind the scenes. 🤷
This should've been a regular series and I hope they consider doing that also I wish they would do something similar to Twilight Wings except each episode would be based on different main characters from the original anime from all over the Pokemon regions and maybe introduce some characters too What do you think?
The ONLY flaw is that there should have been a fourth episode, where they reunite with zouraek, and teach the people of jubifife that Pokémon are powerful ally’s, capable of great good if we respect them!

And I love how this basically ties to the events of the games themselves (a prelude I suppose) AND via the Mystery Gift thing, we can also get that same Shiny Zoroark mask. So now WE can be Alec (or at least we can reenact certain moments ha ha)

Yeah, I liked the idea of it being in the same universe as the game, but happening before the protagonist arrives. Also, it was cool seeing Cyllene in the Security Corps outfit instead of the Survey Corps.

They should make a full animated show about Legends Arceus or remake the story in the Pokemon Adventures manga, because I really want to see more of this era
It is such a huge missed opportunity that we didn't get a PLA arc in the manga. I get why, the staff of the manga already struggle to keep up with the main games, and they needed to get to S&V, but man, it would've been so cool.
This goes to show you how great Pokémon series can be with Evolution, Generation, Twilight wings, and now Hisuian Snow. This is what we want in an anime just a lil bit more mature.

I like that they did that as a tie in, but I would like if Legends Arceus could continue getting more little updates here and there. Definitely agree it the mask could have been a little event.

By amazing coincidence, after getting the mystery gift, I checked the Zoroa spot in PLA and found a shiny!
There is an event! After getting it, of you go to prelude beach there's a guy who talks about how he gathered herbs for like, 10 years. By what another comment said, hed be in his 20's by your time in hisui.
God I find Hisuian Snow to be amazing. Since Legends Arceus brought up the era in which human and Pokémon coexistence isn't yet established, I just really found the Hisuian lore to be some of my favourite stories in Pokémon entirely. I say the following in simple bias however: The people of Jubilife Village, or rather the people who came to Hisui were all practically irresponsible of their own actions. When it came to the story of Zoroark, it was clear that it was because of human actions as to why the Zoroark became hostile, yet the humans blamed the ideal of being unable to coexist with Pokémon as a means to push the blame onto Pokémon itself. It's quite glad that Legends Arceus characters were at least able to establish the chance at coexistence, even if most characters establishing the chance are from the present day, such as the main character or Ingo, and our protagonist of HS, Alec. It's just a good feeling to see that the Hisuian era of Pokémon ended up turning to the present era which established coexistence between people and Pokémon instead of separating them.

I already loved Zorura and Zoroark, plus their other forms. But makes me understand them more. I really like this. And makes me want to get a shiny Zorura even more.
Imagine if the game had on opening similar to this short series instead of "lol this kid fell out of the sky with a weird cellphone." Everything about the game's story would have been so much more gripping and intruiging.
I absolutely LOVED Pokémon Hisuian Snow! I wish that it was longer with more episodes instead of just a short web series because the visuals and art and animation were BEAUTIFUL! I hope for more amazing series in the future and I hope that we don’t get disappointed with the Pokémon SV anime!
Cool story: i was so ecited to meet a zorua, and first time i ever went to the alabaster icelands i kept hearing the shiny sound and when i realized it was under ground. when i finally found the source i rounded the corner and there was a full odds shiny zorua the first time i ever met one. so when i saw this i was instantly attached. felt like what happened to me
after years of being a poor child and never having a nintendo console. this mini series reminded me just how much i always loved pokemon. it got me to get a couple friends together for some pokemon showdown stuff and after the introduction to the game that was i finally pulled the trigger and bought a switch and Legends Arceus. 20 hours in and ive got 190 pokedex entries 10/10, Palkia, and Dialga and im getting ready to farm up my dream team while i get the last few mons. 11 hours in i even found my first shiny which wasnt even a part of an outbreak. it was a beautifly though so maybe not the best but ill be sure to always keep it at least in pokemon home :) .
I liked this anime the most, instead of loud anime guy has best bud or something, it's a child who makes friend with a guy and never sees him again until a short glimpes, and the credits song was really cool
I watched all the Episodes of Hisuian Snow, and I loved the Shiny Zoura has Evolved into Zoroark
The studio behind this and the previous Pokemon anthology series (Origins, Journeys) should just make a full-on Pokemon movie. The animation is so clean!
The first thing that really grabbed me was seeing the Zorua trying to form an apparition. In the main anime, (a Unovan) Zorua took on other appearances by simply doing a bright flippy-flip, so the prospect of this Pokémon manifesting illusions in a more unique, involved, and characterized way, really appealed to me. In this initial meeting of boy and kit, Zorua is explicitly not very good at being scary, so I thought there was going to be a plot element of it endeavoring to pull off an effective Illusion. Yeah, that never did really come back.
i can say with certainty that this is by far THE best pokemon anime, by not getting too dumb down and offering a more mature tone, it surpass any other entry ever put out in the serie, while origin is fun, it doesnt bring anything new to the franchise, as of right now, i hope the pokemon company releases more anime like this, we are seriously lacking good stories not told from the perspective of the eternal and boring child Ash

I feel like this animation was the perfect length honestly, I just wish we had gotten other Hisui short stories like it. It’s basically a Legend in its own rite, and you can really clearly imagine the storytelling narration that could overlay this of the tale being passed down through generations as a way to teach kids how to form mutual trust and partnerships with pokemon. It also explains some of the more unnatural moments like the howl Alec does at the end - it’s offsetting if you take it as something that he actually did, but it’s such a solid way for a storyteller to end a retelling (especially in relation to ghost stories, where they want to give you something to listen for)

Because we can make a Pokemillion dollars in licensing off of them, that's why. I enjoyed watching Hisuian Snow, and I'd say my favourite part of it was probably the fact that it's a prequel to Legends Arceus, which I really wasn't expecting.

Legends Arceus seriously deserved more attention. It was killed one month after release with the announcement of Gen 9
It should of been a movie, especially after that little add part you did at the end which was phenomenal it really gives you a feel of hype, also you go to film school or something? Seriously that add thing edit you did was amazing.

My interpretation of the ep 2 scene was that alec and zorua's situation was a mirror to what had happened before between humans and pokemon. Eith alec picking himself up signaling the change between them that would come as a result of their choices
Just watched yesterday it was awesome Just notice some NPC you have recognized from the Ledgends Arceus game was Zisu from the Security Corps and Volo from Ginko Guild made brief Appearance and also notice Captain Cyllene Uniform is Red in the Ledgends Arceus its Blue love that.

This series really captures the feeling of wild pokemon as wild. We were always told that Garchomp are powerful and vicious hunters and this series shows that perfectly.
Now I really loved this little series but I am a bit disappointed at part 3 mainly cus I wanted to see a proper reunion. At least more then what we got which was him seeing zoroark while blacking out and just the hair. It’s still fantastic, just saying a small thing I’d rather see
Like an idea I had would be it plays out as normal but when he goes and finds mask he sees it, picks it up and looks at it and after a moment of looking at it he looks elsewhere and sees zoroark standing there at a distance. We get a good shot of them and maybe cut to a further away shot where we see the two looking at each other. He gives a small smile at seeing them again and zoroark m’s reaction could be whatever positive really. After a moment it walks off then proceeds as normal. It’s simple but I think it would’ve been effective

It makes me sad that the Pokemon anime is not as interesting... It doesn't even need to be this beautifully animated... I just wish they would ditch Ash and write a new story for each generation. I know its a lot to ask for but Pokemon is the highest grossing media franchise in the world. They have the finances for sure... And these shorts like Evolutions, Generations and Hisuian snow are so interesting...
Also: I remember seeing Volo in the background and I got super excited but also sad knowing that this will be the only place where I see him animated...
Man I could just go on a LONG ramble about how amazing that animation for Garchomp was. ;o;
Absolutely loved this series. Even though I'm usually against the replacement of Ash Ketchum, I'd love to see Alec continue as a main character and his journey through an ancient Pokemon world.

People wanting animation like hisuian snow in the main anime forget that they look nicer BECAUSE they’re shorts. If you want something like that in the main anime, it’s going to be hell for the staffs to pump it out for a weekly show.

**Kid's zorua never actually became a zoroark. As he sees it disappear in the woods, we see the blue tail, and Zoroark has a purple one

Twilight skies was great hisuian snow was even better and poketoon is great too. Really appreciate the shorts they make but would be great to see idk 5x20mins story driven content to tie in with main series games especially more all age rather than child orientated

When Zoroark warded off α!Garchomp, there’s a short shot (not featured in this video) where it runs away a few paces before suddenly taking off. I wasn’t aware when watching the animation that Garchomp could fly… It was especially jarring because the animation didn’t really sell me on the idea that the shark with legs _should_ be able to fly. It was super uncanny, he just started schmoving like Superman. Is Garchomp part psychic? Did I forget that as well? I guess I really won’t see Garchomp the same way again..

There's probably a lot more they'd have to do to make a full series in terms of figuring out where and when to air it so that it doesn't compete with the main series anime, so they figure contracting shorts like this works better? I still think there could be two Pokemon series going at the same time, especially if one was a set 12 episodes and was distributed, say, Netflix only? I'd be up for it, but not sure how things go behind the scenes. 🤷
