It's interesting that when Alchemy was an independent product prior to Apple purchasing the company, it cost $249, which is more than the entire Logic Pro package which now includes Alchemy.
I remember that . Wasn’t it only available in pro tools also ?

Automation of parameters - turn on Merge Recording and go into record mode over your track and alter the parameters (Transform Pad, Cut Off, Attack, Delays or whatever you want) and that automation will be recorded so when you play the track again it will contain all those movements. A lot of people don't know that you can automate synths in GarageBand iOS by using Merge Recording. Great Video Patrick.

I definitely love the alchemy synth..it really makes my guitar tracks stand out more professionally along side the guitar tracks.. I may even try it along side vocals but not as loud for a bit of harmony 🤘..thanks again Patrick

A fun thing to do is to record a few bars of one of the synth sounds then, on playback, use the morph pads to experiment with the different sound variations you can create on that particular synth

Hi Patrick. Have ever heard of a guy called (on CZcams) GarageBand Music? He doesn't teach us anything. He just demonstrates his ability and how knowledgeable his is with Garageband. He's been going a while now and he has a remarkable talent.

I have tried to change m track color but when i right click the instrument the assign track color and assign track icon shortcuts don't show up. Is there a way to change the settings so that I can change the color? I mainly want to do that. I use a Mac book.
I owned the original Alchemy synth and bought all the IAP. Then Apple removed it from the store... i was gutted! Then it came out for garageband and I've never use it since. I may return to the garagaband version, but I'm a Cubasis producer. I miss the original Alchemy.

Is all of this available on Garageband for Mac? Some of the sounds featured here are on my GB, but some are not.
Yep, they either come as part of Alchemy itself or as part of a free Sound Pack.
You can use it even in older version of Garageband, trick is to copy correct folders then when you export project from iOS to Mac you will have all the instruments

Absolutely. Just attach it to your iOS device with GarageBand and Alchemy open and you’ll be able to use it right away.

I had the iOS version of Alchemy. I was very unhappy when Apple bought the. There’s a lot missing in the GB version.
Can you remember which features are missing?
My Biggest complaints with iOS Garageband:
-No MIDI export
-No ‘normal’ loop fuction
-No automation for AudioUnits and interapp synths
-Not being able to put an arpeggio on already written MIDI
The only reason for these limitations I can think of is to ‘force’ people to buy a Mac to go full GB or Logic .. bummer

I think the ipad is still better to use as an instrument and not a daw. Not that it wouldnt be possible, but apple just dont really care about musicians, especially on ipad
@@armignac I got aum and Cubasis 3 and Auria pro it’s amazing now
My only frustration is Apple not allowing us to midi learn the knobs. Yes, Steve said all you need is your finger. Apple also provides custom color iDevices. Give us the option.
But I digress. One of the first things I was exposed to when I opened GarageBand. Thanks for the reminder as it's been a journey of being distracted with other "shiny" toys.

Logic Pro gets the ‘full’ version unfortunately. This version is still really good though.
@@TheGaragebandGuide so excited to get Logic Pro, I’ve been watching videos for weeks in preparation. Any logic videos are appreciated but I know it’s not in the name of the channel 😅
Alchemy in GarageBand is not ‘fully featured’. Not even remotely. It has been turned into a glorified preset player. Too bad because there are plenty of people who contend that the original stand-alone version was, and still is, one of the greatest iOS music apps.
What do you think holds it back from being fully featured?
@@TheGaragebandGuide the fact that most of the synth engine isn’t exposed. You get performance controls and the morph pad but all parameters are selected for you.
It still sounds amazing, mind you.
@@PhilanderingBastard if you swipe left on the Alchemy synth interface, you can access all of its other controls. From 02:55 onwards.
