      It's a shame you can't do this 'live' merge recording when using Plugins...e.g.the Apple AUNBANDEQ.. I have merge recordings on, hit the record and play with my sliders on low pass... rather than the buttons like you do in alchemy synth.., unfortunately it doesn't record the live-changing you're making like it does in the alchemy synth😢😢😢😢

    As with all your videos Pete I always learn something new. I use alchemy synth A LOT In my compositions and recordings and I always adjust the dials and pads to get the sound just right. However, I never knew I could use merge recordings to essentially alter the dials in real time, so you opened up a whole new world to me. Fab guy 👍🤩🙏🏼 xx
    ps My only gripe about alchemy synth is that the dials vary from one instrument to another and it is not possible to add or change the dials, there are some really useful dials on some instruments that I wish were on others

    That makes everything so clear. Recording the bells and whistle effects in the same time line at a different time. I'm wondering, Pete, if there is a similar trick when it comes to plugging in a guitar because I can plug in a guitar into an amp on ipad garageband and make it wah with the wah wah pedal in the amp section. I can even record the wah and make it wah wah. What I can't do is record the guitar and the wah wah because it does not have the option to record the same time line at a different time. I hadn't paid too much attention to Alchemy Synth, but now I know how to use it. Good show!

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah so that one dodgy wah effect nuts doesn’t work with any real audio tracks of real guitars - only virtual. You’re better off playing around with something like MixBus or Amplitube and use the auto wah. czcams.com/video/iDuZzFdnWrg/video.html

    You can also mute all sounds not needed and or wanted…then with the GarageBand fx ,record that one instrument with fx,then copy by saving to files…then bring the instrument(s) back in original recording ..so in essence you can single out an instrument using GarageBand fx for your tracks..

    • @PeteJohnsMusic

    Thanks for a great video. One thing I can't find an answer to is whether it's possible to fine tune the pitch of Alchemy sounds. Quite often I've found that when it comes to adding a second or third synth sound they are frustratingly out by a not-quite semitone. Are there any ways to fine tune pitch of an Alchemy synth sound eg by increments of 'cents'...?

    I love alchemy synth sounds but since GarageBand has that annoying auto normalization I’ve been mostly using Cubasis 3, ( i know you can lower the volume so it doesn’t affect that much but i can still hear that it doesn’t sound as good as when you’re hearing it on GarageBand )
    Alchemy synth is one of the things I’m excited for if Logic Pro arrives to IPad (pretty sur Logic Pro won’t have auto normalization )
