thought this was Will ferrell dressed as an old guy
Mr Mcbadass hahahahaha i swear
Mr Mcbadass if will Ferrell and the fonz had a baby
Thoughtbthe same exact thing.... lol
You mean Fill Werrell
Mr Mcbadass me too I was so happy
If you want someone to authenticate your stuff, go to Rick and reject his offer
It's free, you exposure, and proof.
So true and then you can use the show to back up your asking price
Then put an ad that says:
"As seen on Pawn Stars"
Too bad it's just scripted. They don't a have experts just lying around them on the time. This is just made for the show purpose
He had it graded already though, they wouldn't grade a fake.
“Mind if I have somebody take a look at it?”
“Yeah”
*calls in expert anyways*
I’ve never completely understood why but Pawn Stars uses an extreme amount of jump cuts. Very frequently they cut down a “yeah sure why not” to a simple “yeah sure” or “yeah”. It’s present in almost every episode.
I have an extremely rare coin.
*takes it to a pawn shop*
@Brian W which has exactly what to do with what I posted.
@@Rockhound6165 means that he wanted money fast
actually----takes it to a tv show and gets massive exposure, possibly driving up the price
To be fair they aren’t just a pawn shop, they specialize in buying rare and unique items. Now the show is fake, but the shop is not.
Then expects exact value for it
"Have to be totally on the desert with no water in order to take that offer." Wasn't this shot in Las Vegas?
Lmao
If he was in the desert with no water, why the heck would he need that 50k for? He would trade it just for a huge bottle of water
By the sound of his voice he could've used some water
😂😂😂
@@kabbas85 if he had 50k, yeah lmao
“It’ll probably be going for $125,000 in a few months”

A quick google search of coins cert number shows that it failed to meet its 60k reserve at auction in August of 2019. 50k was actually a really good offer.
Then he’s gotta frame it and pay commissions.
@@WilsonBrew there is no other like it. It is the finest graded 1867 shield nickel proof with rays.
I love these sellers who "disagree" with the field experts but have no data to back up their demand.
Rick: what you want from it?
Seller: 90K.
Rick: Okay let me call someone who gonna tell us that it costs less.

Rick: Mind if I have someone look at it

Will Ferrell-Gary busey combo dude
Claims coin is gonna go from 90 to 120k in a few months - wants to sell in order to "invest in something". So much BS.
Invest in powder up his nose.
From what I gather he paid more than it's worth and doesn't want to lose money on it.

I feel like some people are confused on how a pawn shop works.
This is true they need to make a profit as well to pay employees and stuff and it's not always a guarantee there going to get what it's worth especially in a auction you might less you might get more all depending how bad the people at the auction wants that item
A lot of people are confused 😂😂😂 I wish I knew how much he got for it ?!
He said “you mind if I get a buddy to look at it”
He said yeah
And he got his buddy anyway
RICK: Do you mind if I have somebody look at it?
CUSTOMER: Yeah.
RICK: OK. We don't have a deal, then.
"He coulda had it for 80,000, and It's going to go for 120,000-125,000 in the next few months here probably." ..exacty. And that's why you're trying to sell it
He is most likely not selling it and was legit offended as a collector that one random Dude "value" the coin for less than what it would realisticaly go for
@@honkingthechickenaway5973 realisticaly? Show me a coin like this who was sold for over 100,000, you're just stupid, of course a person who owns something sees an object way more valuable than it is.

Just to let y'all know, I saw one of these coins in a worse condition sold for 55k, this guy could easily sell it for 65k or more. The good thing is he wasn't dumb enough to accept Rick's offer

“Its a very handsome coin”
I don't want to know where that handsome coin has been!
Why would you sell a coin for 80k if you know it's worth 125k in just a few months?

No but he would

Gotta love the people who think they’re experts on something bc they did a few google searches on a coin they found under the couch cushion
That guy has probably been collecting coins longer than you’ve been alive dYlAn SmItH
Ever wonder where all these experts live like he has a expert for every single thing the bring in the pawn lol
Dead shot i mean, the shop is in las vegas
Experts come in to give opinions, not try to find someone to argue with.
guys like this should have to sign a full disclosure clause. find out what they finally sold it for, if they even sold it.
Beautiful coin.

Rick’s face at 2:15, he’s like stfu and tell me how much its worth
Anyone dumb enough to take a rare and expensive coin to a pawn shop deserves to be low balled - he could sell this at a proper coin auction with a reserve price and get what he wants immediately.
Howard Ende Since you don't seem to understand the way things work on Pawn Stars, I'm going to help you out. The seller had almost no intention of selling this coin to Rick. He agreed to appear on the show with this coin mainly to get the exposure, and Rick agreed to have him on the show, knowing for an almost certainty that the seller would not accept his lowball offer. The seller then gets the exposure of a very popular TV show with his very valuable coin and later sells it for way over $50k. 99.9% of pawn shops would not be able to make a reasonable offer on that coin.
@@douglaswilliams6834 not true, we all know everything on TV and internet is real.
LOL... Ya think so?
It just sold for $58k. Reserve wasnt met so he still has it.
he didnt just take it to any old pawn shop--he took it to a tv show. got massive exposure, likely driving up interest and possibly the price.
The Pez Community would be in aim uproar over this as well.
Thumbnail looked like the guy from happy days
"You have to be totally on the desert with no water to take that offer"
Must be nice to be able to say no to $50,000.
I would have been singing songs all the way to the bank
The man was sipping screwdrivers all day
He didnt say no to 50,000, he just didnt want to sell an item he thinks is worth a lot more for just that. So what? If you had a house worth a million and someone offered you 50,000 youd take it?
and it was sold in an auction for $98,900
yeah but where talking about Rick, his going to earn more and we all know it.
Today I learned that Will Ferrell's Dad is an avid coin collector.
Will Farrell is 52yrs old, not a young dude either.
I had to consult a buddy of mine about if I should watch this video
2:02 great shorts.
Rick: That's pretty amazing. Best I can offer you is .10 cents 😂🤣🤣
Good knowledge
Do you mind if somebody looks at this?
Man: yah
His is rated higher then the one that sold for 80k, glad he didnt sell it
No it isnt higher. The coin is worth 65k retail on a good day.
@Tommy Totem
What auction ? I will look it up.
@Tommy Totem
If you dont quote the auction and lot i dont beleive it.
@Tommy Totem
The last one to sell was march 2018 in heritage signature auction dallas. It was a pr 64 plus. It made 31,700.
In pr 66 which is highest graded it catalogues at 70, 000.
The average price is around 30k. The highest price was 70k in 2008.
If you have more information please share. Otherwise i will stick to my estimate of 65k.
I have been a professional coin dealer since 1972.
U gotta listen to your customers Rick he said "YES" when u asked Do You Mind
Good walk out !!!!
That is a beautiful coin.
Glad the seller stuck to his guns and didn't take Rick's lowball offer
"It's a very handsome coin!"
The expert isn't really and expert but someone with another opinion...sometimes used to bring the asking price down!
I said the same thing...
A cooler for something rick wants.
Handsome Man Hard to imagine someone would blackmark themselves as a sellout to all others in his profession
The show is staged. Everybody relax.
The expert isnt an expert? Why even say this when you are clueless? He works at NGC, one of the 2 big coin grading companies. He's as much of an expert on coins as you can get....
The coach from The Waterboy really cleaned up for the show
Henry Winkler
were did you get this?.....ive had it 15 years.....
I have a sheild nickel around here somewhere. I will have to look for it.
I was always wondering, whenever he call people to check on the item, he can always ask their people to give a reduce price for it
thats probably what would happen. if the expert would give higher than expected price, rick wouldn't call him again.
2:26 ‘‘it's a very handsome coin'’
nothing I wouldn't do for a handsome nickel
The guy selling looks like Ron Burgandys brother lol
This guy looking for a double retail at a pawnshop 🤔🤣
That guy knew more about his coin than Rick or that "expert"...lol
uhm how
I'm a coin guy the reason the Ray's were removed was because the dies started cracking from the Ray's put on coin and they were removed later , I have some with cracks , I never heard it about the Ray's mean the south
This coin was put up for auction in 2020 and it sold for $32,400. Should've taken the deal for $50k. It appears he lied about this being in his family for long time as this very coin was purchased in an auction in 2011 for $63,250. With auction fees he probably lost over $30k
Hey rick got i went through my quarter and i discovered that i got a national state park quarter. These quarter didn't come out till 2010. But its got a 2009 date on it. Its the third park to come out in 2020 .the recommend design for 2020 quarter doesn't even match the design on the quarter i got. Any clue what its worth.
Rick, do not let this 1867 proof shield nickel walk out of the pawnshop. Jump over the counter and grab the nickel by the ankles .
If it is worth $63,000 then $50,000 was a great offer. Usually Rick only pays about half of what its worth.
If you are looking to get what it is worth do not go to a damh pawnshop
True... he wanted it
@NoPain NoGain Well, typically people sell stuff at pawn shops when they just want quick cash. It is easier and they don't have to spend time looking for a specific buyer that will pay the full value, which sometimes takes a long time. That quickness and convenience of selling something at a pawn shop comes at the cost of not getting the full value for the item however.
@NoPain NoGain imagine going to meet someone with a 90 grand coin and they say they have 90 grand cash I mean how risky would that be? Takes all the risk away as well selling to a pawn shop.
He said 50,000 cause he knew he could of sell it for more than 63,000
Sell at stacks and bower. Not a pawn shop. I agree with the seller with his assumed price. Study your coin facts and look at recent sold auctions on that coin. You will understand the market and liquidity of that coin and make a hypothesis on the value today.
Woman on TV: for just 50 cents you can help a child in Africa.
Rick harrison: mmmmm..i don't know, ima do 25 It's just too risky.
More like 10- remember he has to frame it.
He's gonna need to call in an expert
*I'm going
Rick ain't black.
Well I think kids in Africa are worth a dollar and they might even sell for 1.25 in a few weeks and you coulda fed them for 50 cents
Rick: “You mind if I bring someone in?”
Him: “Yeah.”
Rick: “ok let me bring him in then.”
The coin is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Put it in a Heritage or Stack's and Bowers auction and see what happens.
@Joseph Gross 100K easily, but then you have to deal with auction fees. Depending on the house you go to they could take a hefty chunk of that. Better off just doing a private sale.
thought it was will Ferrell on the thumbnail
It's about time that somebody was smart enough to walk away
That guy's not smart. He was pretty dismissive of the coin expert. "WE have our opinion of values, and it's slightly different from yours". Well, there's a MS66 cameo specimen of this coin on eBay right now for $90K, or best offer. So it could probably be had for $80-85K. An MS66 Cameo is better than an MS66 Star. This guy will wait at least ten years if he wants to get $125K for it, and inflation will have eaten up a big chunk of those dollars anyway.
$50,000? That’s an insult to the Nickel community.
2:02 know what I’m sayin? 👯♀️
"Let me call my buddy - No!! I mean call an expert who knows everything about this."
I always wondered, how do they have these random professionals show up on call so fast?
If it’s real they just cut out that part why leave it in
Because its fake and items are screened or plants. Then the expert is just off camera ready to come in. Notice how the expert leaves the store, but yet films a quick bit about the coin in the back of the store for the episode? They already filmed that.
@@dustinowens9552 or it's called editing...
They got a cage full of them out back. You mighta missed that episode. Chumly got them for a helluva deal.

I don't believe to Rick's experts.
Sold it for 45k and the Belink auction last summer. I was there and thought it was funny.
Was he dressed the same?
if its going to go for 120-125k in a month why wouldnt he hold onto it then sell it for that
I Just always love how people always cry about the price they are offered. Rick owns a pawn shop, he is selling it on.
It's very rare he should have takin a chance and gave him a little more on the offer.
Dude went on to sell the coin for $160,000
Skip bayless is asking a bit high, but i like his euphemism at the end.
Smart move seller!!!
I thought he was gonna do a magic trick, and pull it out of the of Rick's ear, lol. "Oh, there it is," lol. It looks like a coin Two-Face would have, lol.
It's a very handsome coin.
Lmfao!!
This guy was never gona sell this
Exactly he just wanted 5 minutes of TV fame lol
Ricks offer was totally legit
WOW 1,000,000 times the face value! Wonder where he found it?
NGC says this is worth 70k right now
yup! mine has only stars.
“i’ve had it maybe 15 years”
“yes we’ve had it in the family a long time”
Good for you! Now everyone that collects coins know you have one. And you will get much more than that ridiculous offer
Rick don't want a nickel, He just wants to ride on his motor cycle
He got it in a storage sale for $75
One of the best condition of coins there are ONE sold at 63k so they just throw this coin in with all the other coins, the condition, the rating this coin is WAY more than 70-80k
The current pcgs market guide is 70k. One sold a few years ago for 72k similiar. They have been trending down since. In auction he maybe clears 50k. Reason. 20 per cent buyers now. If the coin hammers at 60k the buyer has to pay 72k plus whatever state tax.
The coin probably goes for 50 to 55 on a good day. Plus the market is soft at the moment on proofs. Even a rarity.
"I could use the money to invest in other things" yea a crack investment
I was thinking more along the lines of hookers or strippers.
