Dragons is always a solid reason.
The foreshadowing and easter eggs in future books is what I love the most about Robin Hobbs books. Or maybe the characters. The characters are great. And the little chapter starts in all the Fitz books and the Rain Wild Chronicles.
I'm going to stop before I get to 50 myself lol.
On to Assassin’s Quest at the moment and love it. I’ve also gone and got the rest of the series. It’s one of the best series I’ve ever read.
I was hanging out at the library in Turners Falls, Massachusetts. A part time librarian who I had become familiar with gave me a box of used books and one of the books was Assassins Apprentice. Robin Hobbs has been my favorite fantasy author ever since. I've read them all.
Playing this for my husband because it's far more eloquent than me screeching 'read the painful booooooks' every time he's trying to choose what to read next
This made me laugh far too much 😂 relatable ahaha
The painful books LMFAO 🤣
I've read em all now and boy, is my book hangover immense!! My top reason would be the character relationships. Fitz's dynamic with basically every other character feels so unique and complicated and often heart-wrenching. Especially the Fool, of course. I can't think of any description that would do their bond justice!
I'll definetely be starting Farseer after watching this- the series sounds great and immersive in general.
Hey, it's been two years. I just wanna know how the book is like so far you have read? Is it good, intriguing, or anything in particular?
Just finished the first trilogy today! Understand all the above!
Have you ever read “the kingfountain” series? First is called “the queens poisoner”. It’s one of my favourites and as I was reading Farseer, I got so much kingfountain vibes. So if you like one I think you’ll like the other, They’re on kindle unlimited I think too! It’s about a little boy who is taken by the king to live in the castle as collateral, to ensure his family’s loyalty. There’s magic, found family, politics, and all the other good stuff you’d expect. It will also break your heart. There’s aspects of arthurian legend as well x
I have read the first two books and I love them! Great video as always♡♡
I bought assassins apprentice recently and now your video has made me even more excited to start this series, it has intimated me ever since I first heard about it but I am very excited 🥰
currently reading her liveship tarders trilogy (bc pirates are so cool to read about especially in summer) and i'll definitely pick this one up after!!
wait till you work out who Amber is.....not sure you will work it out until the tawny man trillogy tho
This has been on my TBR for, it seems like, forever! Thanks for the multiple nudges :) It still is intimidating, the books are long, and there are so many ;)
I just started looking for the books yesterday and you convinced me even more to get them
I’ll be starting the second in the series very soon!!
Might start this series in 2023
Bought this trilogy on your recommendation and now have fresh motivation to start!!!
Just read the first one this month, so this was fun. Thank you. :)
That bookshelf is goals for me after I read Assassins Apprentice
Just started it and it's not disappointing. Thanks for recommending it.
My all time favorite fantasy writer!!! I’ve read all her stuff, she is amazing!
She truly is incredible
I read the trilogy this month and yeah I love Fitz's story and can't wait to read more :)
I picked up the Live Ship trilogy on your recommendation and now have the complete Realm of the Elderlings on my bookshelf. Robin Hobb has been my year. Love Fitz, love the Fool.
I ordered the first book! I listen to you, I promise.
ugh such a darn good series!!! Robin Hobb is the queen
As someone who has read the Farseer Trilogy 100% because of you (and Elderlingalong), this is very relatable content! :D thank you for bringing my Hobb love to life
Word the Liveship Traders books are excellent!!! I love the worlds she creates and the characters that inhabit them!!! Capt Kennit is one of my favorite characters EVER written! As well as the Fool and Fitz of course!
Just finished Fitz and the Fool trilogy earlier this year. Robin Hobb is brilliant!
I just recently read Assassins Apprentice and surprisingly enjoyed it a lot. I won’t lie, the covers are a big plus.
I bought the first one (gorgeous illustrated edition, highly recommend) and read it based on your recommendations on other videos. Loved the depth of the story. The 2nd book is on its way.
Oooooh I want the illustrated editions so bad!
Love, love, love Robin Hobb!
She’s incredible!
fav series ever!!!!
How strange that I picked up this book the other day to start reading. Looking forward to it even more now!
i've been wanting to read this series just because of how pretty those editions are but i'm still scarred from how oathbringer handled seggsytime and depression and now i'm scared to read any other adult fantasy
Our Cinnamon roll of a main character! Love Fitz ❤
God damn it I already wanted to read this!!
A kind word here for the works of Guy Gavrielle Kay. Beautiful prose. Just read the Farseer Trilogy, was moving right along with the political twists and then there were dragons? (In a Monty Python voice) Nobody expects dragons!
ok FINE ILL READ IT!!
Oh the theories! I finished series 4 recently and I have theories about the origin of the Wit magic. I'm hoping seris 5 gives me answers but I'm scared to read it because if you were emotional about series 1 and 3 then 5 will apparently break you into tiny pieces!
I definitely want to read these, though I keep putting them off just cause of how freaking MANY there are lol. Also, in the vein of political fantasy, These Feathered Flames by Alexandra Overy is really good! It's also inspired by Russian folklore!
I read first book and need to read the rest.
💛💛💛
Underrated series.
Convinced me :)
I finished Farseer and loved it. Now I've started Liveship Traders and I already think Kyle is going to be the character I hate as much as I hated Regal.
I’m all caught up with elderlingalong but I’m here anyway 😂 I do love it so much though
Same.... same. 😆
Am I now staring at my current read, debating on shelving it for Assassins Apprentice? Yes.
Finished AA. Just ordered her entire works. My wallet doesn’t appreciate it but MAN. I’m THRILLED to continue. 🤍
I wish people didn’t mention dragons before I started reading. It would have hit me harder if that was never told to me. Though an edition of the last book had literally that on the cover! I feel like their reveal is so important it almost counts as a spoiler
it would be fun if you try thw blindfolded book challenge
I just realized she lives over 2 hours from me. In Tacoma, Washington. I live in Custer, Washington. LOL
I'm reading Royal Assassin at the moment, I'm loving it but also the fear for all the characters is real 😅
"Everything is regal" Yeah, you can say that again
If you love fantasy, you should definitely read SCARLETT LOST IN THE FIVE LANDS by Rajendra Sarilla. It's an amazing fantasy novel with powerful female characters and mind blowing war scenes. I read it on Kindle since paperback was not available outside India. It has dragons, magic school, multiple villains and people of different skin colours - blue, silver, pale, brown. A fragmented society based on skin colour. It's a good fantasy that deals with racism and bullying.
I started Book 1 earlier this year, but I couldn't enjoy the writing style. I found it a bit slow and DNF. Although I don't think it was time to read it, after this video I'll try to read it one more time and hope to enjoy it more.
I'm reading Assassin's Quest in July, after the ending of Royal Assassin i am extremely nervous to see how this trilogy ends
I know that there are a lot of sub-series and different trilogies for Robin Hobb, but it sounds really interesting! Can you start with any particular trilogy, or is The Farseer trilogy the one to go to for people who have never read her before?
Farseer is the best to start with as all of the books with Fitz in require them (so two other series) and context would be missed in the others, but if you really wanted to, you could start with the Liveshop Traders trilogy of the Rainwild books
Yes, dragons are indeed a solid reason
I really want to read this series but I’m currently only 17 and I don’t know if I should wait until I’m older so I understand it better? Thoughts?
It's absolutely worth a shot at any age! It's not confusing, dark/gory or anything, it's a coming of age fantasy and really wholesome ^•^
Always worth giving a go but if you find you can’t get into it, I’d try again in the future! I didn’t love it my first time round when I was around your age but adore it now
So is this the best place to start with her books? I've wanted to give her a try but kept getting confused on where the world actually begins...
Yep, this would be the best ☺️ you can start with W couple of her other series but honestly it’s just easier to start here in terms of timeline
Tried the first one. Couldn't get past the first 100 pages. I hated every single character, empathized with none except the animals, had killing instincts. DNF 🤷♀️ I still can't understand whether I did not catch the story somehow or what.
To be fair, none of the characters are particularly likeable early on, and it’s a slow series. I rated the first book 3 stars when I initially read it years ago, but adore them now
On to Assassin’s Quest at the moment and love it. I’ve also gone and got the rest of the series. It’s one of the best series I’ve ever read.
