Michael Cane's accent in this movie sounds like every time he attempted to add southernness to his voice his British accent attacked it like a white blood cell and it just resulted in some messy glob by the end of each line.
It's like the Revolutionary War in a voice. The Americans and the British, fighting for dominance.
Why is that such an accurate way to describe it? Lol
During the era in which Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Donnie Yen, Michelle Yeoh, Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao, etc... ruled Eastern cinemas, Hollywood chose to push Steven Seagal as a martial arts star. **facepalm**
Which is sad because we had Jean Claude and Chuck Norris as options.
Hard to believe that Doug has NEVER done a Steven Seagal movie ever. Even JonTron has talk about him.
I know right
Even? JonTron has often beat Doug over covering a certain movie.
The only version of Aikido that I accept is Venusian Aikido. It's from Doctor Who, is completely fictional, and Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor actually looks like a badass doing it.
20:12
That reaction was priceless!
(Yours and Critic’s)
🤣
I think the only thing that would make it complete would be if he could have worked in Michael Caine from Austin Powers; Goldmember saying, “This ain’t my first “row-day-oh” cowboy!”
As a Texan i can say we have like 5 distinct accents for the regions of Texas and Caine didnt sound like any of them and 2 the thing about black hair is that under certain lighting conditions black looks brown and people can have black hair and brown beards naturally.
It's funny to hear people try and speak with the southern accent and fail at it. 😂
"If it's that good and works that well, then why does nobody use it?" Because supposedly, if you believe the people who DO practice it, the martial arts world has 'blacklisted it because it's too good' is the last thing I heard from them in terms of an explanation
They mention that in the video.
The puppets from Blark and Son look more realistic than Canes anything in this movie
True. And as much as I love that show, I’ll admit, they’re still a little creepy.
20:14-20:19 Funny part for me is, when I saw the review (haven’t seen the movie, btw) and he played the clips of him talking, I assumed it was southern just because there was the hint of a twang. Then this happened and I let a “I KNEW IT!” while also sad that he was trying to sound like he’s from here. Lol
Cane did another movie where he had a southern accent and it sound way better
Secondhand Lions, yeah.
I think the next Nostalgia critic y’all should react to is the review of Kids WB!
44:01 - 45:22 Forrest Taft: "Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to stop Kris Kristofferson from dumping toxic waste in Appalachian mountains."
Yeah, seriously, tell me that Fire Down Below is not the unofficial sequel like Burt Reynold's Gator to White Lightning.
You know a movie’s so bad that it’s good when it involves Steven Seagal, Michael Caine, John C. McGinley, and R. Lee Ermey. Admittedly I’ve only seen Hard To Kill and Out For Justice and the funny thing is that i recently went back and recognized one of Seagal’s movies Above The Law (1988) was briefly featured in one of my all time favorite comedy films Step Brothers which cracks me up every time i get to that part of the movie. Thank you so much Nate and Nick for watching and reacting to NC’s review of On Deadly Ground. I’ll keep my fingers crossed in the hopes that his next one will be for HTK.

You were about to commit the egregious sin of spoilers, but you are forgiven
ur own deprecating joke about deflated balloon laugh, is the thing that always draws me closer to you reactions. Peace and love, keep it up 💚
"On Deadly Ground" was the first Steven Seagal movie I ever saw.
Thank you for pointing out that modern horses are not Native to the Americas. There were horses in the Americas prior to European colonization, but those species had all died out long by the time Columbus landed at Nassau.
Many things we think of as "belonging" to a culture are actually recent inventions.
Irish potatoes
Jewish potato pancakes
Russian potato vodka
Italian tomato sauce
Belgian chocolate
Swiss chocolate
French vanilla
African peanuts
Even the peppers used in Chinese and Korean cuisine (ex. Sichuan sauce, kimchi, etc.)
All Native to the Americas. Pre-1492, NONE of those things existed.
Works the other way around, too. Colombian coffee, when coffee is indigenous to the Middle East.
Love the only other time he's made a reference to Segal, his Demolition Man review,
'Segal! Ah he was never cool'
I remember that.
"Willis! Ma-ma-ma-MAN!"
35:45 How is that one moment funnier than anything in this Steven Seagal movie? THAT'S A HOOOUUUUSSSEEE!!!!
35:58 Equally funny. TOOOOOOTTTHHH!!!
42:19 that guy was laughable unlike zagon & salvano from above the law also worse kill award goes to the secretary 2nd place goes to Michael Caine.
I actually really like Hard to Kill, Above the Law, and Under Siege
Ah good old stephen seagull
Been watching reviews of Steven seagal movies on channel space ice. This movie is unironically better than the others he has been in after.
That martial art style is a Joke, that's why they call it I-kidd-yo!
Looks like we're gonna have a Steven month. 😂
28:34 umm, what happened?
I've seen the original edit. It's two guys saying "fuck you" "no, fuck you!". I'm guessing it was cut because the original version was demonetized. Although I don't know why doug didn't edit out where it cuts back to him.
This was a fun episode😊
20:37 Tea's done
I was so excited to see you guys reacting this!
It took him long enough to watch a Steven Seagal movie. Hopefully he checks out at least one of his SNL sketches
Aikido is actually useful when you apply it to situations.
20:41 🎈 💨 😂
I was going to say they belong to Malcolm too
Please guys, if you like Nostalgia Critic then I insist you review his Fanscription episodes, mostly his Disney and Batman ones because they are SO good!
"young and stupid"? Michael Caine was in 60's at this point.
Wanna know another great film Irwin Kershner did....Robocop 2
Unpopular opinion I like this movie I mean yes it's bad I won't deny that but it has some entertainment to it I mean I will take it over his straight to video films the films I like of steven seagal are hard to kill, this film, out for justice, and marked for death, under siege the first one.
While I've never seen a Seagal movie, I've seen his ego, which is why the most impressive part of Executive Decision is how they somehow managed to convince Seagal to allow them to kill his character off at all, let alone as early in the movie as both you guys and the Critic himself said.
As someone from New England, I can guarantee even the worst New England accents don't sound half as bad as whatever the hell Caine was doing. I'm sure if you showed him a clip from this film now he would just pretend he forgot he was in it.
By the way when I looked up Segal's name in google it didn't even tell me who he was it just listed the fact that he "appeared" in the South Park episode Safe Space, which may just be his best performance.
These 2 would have a field day with Space Ice's Steven Seagal movie reviews 😂
I haven't seen any of Steven Segal's movies before. I've been told that he's total weirdo.
Been so long since i've seen that chuck norris gag.
0:00-9:45-11:30-36:21-
20:30 so hilarious
Don't forget the one Steven's seGaul movie where he was playing a police officer with 1 of the Wayne's brothers. I believe it was.
Funny as hell they strapped him to a lie detector test and asked him. Have you ever killed anyone and he said? Yes, have you ever been convicted of a crime and he said? Yes, have you ever accidentally shot someone? Yes, and all the suddenly the guy looks back at the machine and realizes. He was 100% telling the truth.
I find it hilarious the only reason Seagal is a black belt in martial arts is because "the judge fell asleep and just gave him the belt."
Fucking. Hilarious.
Joe swatson: YES YES LOCK N LOAD LOCK N LOAD!
Is it weird that I've actually seen a couple of Steven seagal but on repeat In Spanish though when they play it on TV a lot
do Meet the Amazing merasmus to complete the amazing series
the only Steven Seagal movie ive seen is Machete
Did you guys see Above The Law and The Glimmer Man?
14:52 It's okay Nic I feel ya LMAO
28:53 I know, but there's an "ME" in that mofo.
This guy also has an M.E. and at his hospital, he *is* a bad mofo.
Doug really needs to fo Seagal month. Those "movies" are a comedic goldmine.
The Cool Thumbnails Are Missing 😥
26:13 most people don’t think that anymore because now people have realized the masterpiece that is Revenge of the Sith
I look at them separately. Thats the best prequel movie. Empire is the best of the original trilogy. The new trilogy?.......ehhhh rogue one was alright.
Most???
@@jp3813 judging from multiple CZcams polls

Either you made a wonderful choice or terrible choice by not watching Steven Seagal movies, depending on your point of view
9:46
Thanks Caleb.
Thanks Caleb
Thank you Caleb 😊
To me above the law out for justice hard to kill marked for death and under siege are his best ones he did there was a few modern Seagal stuff i did liked like machete I thought he was fun in that and also I love the tv show he did true justice that was a fun show except season 2 kind of ruined the show for me
Now, I wouldn't shit on akido because I haven't actually seen it besides Steven Segul and I think thats a poor reference.
I have no reference to defend it, though
Only other person I’ve seen use it os John Pertwee as The Third Doctor and even then I doubt it was actual aikido
Half Past Dead is also one of Seahawk’s worst film. Ja Rule said no to being in 2 Fast 2 Furious which would’ve change his life for the better if he had said Yes…..but he chose to star in Half Past Dead with one of the worst action stars and around the time Half Past Dead came out, it was already well known.
I hope you watch his review of Felix the Cat.
Is nick too cool to laugh? Wtf
I’m from Texas so that “faketexan” accent is crap
Please dont try and equate the starpower orlf Arnold and this sorry excyse of a human being
