He did a whole review of "The Mist" last year for nostalgia-ween. If you wanna know why it's not on this list, go watch his review.
The mist hahaha its sucked ass hahaha
Fun fact: my older sister accidentally caught a glimpse of the scene where the baby got run over in pet semetary at 5 years old and it scarred her for life 😅
Hopefully it also teaches her to look both ways before crossing traffic as well
@@justinsigler1565 she has kids now around that age so she definitely does
Nostalgia Critic did a review on The Mist. I highly recommend you guys watch it to see Doug's opinion on it and why he didn't include it on this list.
Seeing Creepshow at number one is a nice change for once it usually be the Shinning or Shawshank pretty nice to see this being number one on someone's list.
On your point about Stephen King wanting his name on everything, there's actually one exception (besides the shining that nick mentioned). The film Lawnmower Man was so far removed from his story that King sued to get his name taken off of it.
Poor Doug, he made a vid earlier today about his health taking a bad turn. Nothing serious, but the shingles virus is still lingering in his body and he's not feeling too hot. Sometimes these symptoms can last for months! Let's hope Doug gets better sooner rather than later.
My grandmother has Bells Palsy right now. Hopefully she's better soon too.
I will always be bummed that Green Mile was left out of the list, but I'm glad it was on the honorable mentions at least.
Same. I would put that over 1408.
@@WraythSkitzofrenik I would have it switch places with Shawshank, personally.
@@weirdguy1495Personally, i feel that The Shawshank Redemption was the better between the two, though they’re both definitely great movies.
Doctor Sleep is a very underrated Stephen King adaptation and a worthy sequel to not only Stanley Kubrick's version of The Shining but also Stephen King's vision of the book.
I love creepshow it replicates old EC horror comics like tales from the crypt, vault of horror and haunt of fear and maybe it’s just me but creepshow feels more like tales from the crypt than the hbo series and the movies and I think demon knight is pretty good with billy Zane being an absolute delight but creepshow is one of a kind
Another anthology I feel gets the shaft is John Carpenter's, Body Bags. Sure, it looks like Showtime's attempt to copy Tales from the Crypt, but I liked John Carpenter's The Coroner as the host of the unmade show. Plus, the segments, like *Hair* or *Eye,* were amazing. Good thing John Carpenter got his second chance with Masters of Horror.
King sued to get his name off of lawnmower man I could be wrong but I think that was the only time he wanted his name off an adaption
For Fair Reason: the movie itself is NOTHING like the story (they literally tossed in one scene from the book to put King's name on it)
@@van8ryan Kinda like how the Weinsteins slapped Wes Craven's name above Dracula 2000 to make it successful. I mean, how was Gerard Butler supposed to carry that crappy movie on his own?
Do you have Prince Albert in a can? You do? Well you better let the poor guy out!
Waa-Haa! Waa-Haa! Waa-Haa!Waa-Haa! Waa-Haa! Waa-Haa!
Oh boy. Someone has to see nostalgia critic’s review of The Mist and everyone here is *not* gonna be happy about his opinion on that film
Fun fact: before they worked on New Nightmare, Heather Langencamp already knew Miko Hughes (the kid who played Gage in Pet Sematary) when she was visiting her boyfriend/soon to be husband David LeRoy Anderson who was the special effects makeup artist on the film. When Heather found out that Miko was going to be playing her son in New Nightmare, on like the first day of shooting New Nightmare she said hi miko.
How do I know? I think it was either mentioned in the Never Sleep again: Nightmare on Elm Street doc or the Unearthed and Untold: The path to pet sematary doc.
He made a review for The Mist you guys need to watch it
Critic also did a review of another good Stephen King adaptation The Stand.
23:02 In all actuality, the Silent Hill franchise is really just one big homage to the works of Stephen King(and David Lynch)...1408, the short story, came out before Silent Hill 4...IN fact you can see MANY Stephen King tropes in Silent Hill...Alessa Gillespie being the psychic child trope...Plenty of Alcoholic characters...Shapeshifters and the supernatural...The bad guys are a religious cult..It all takes place in a small rural town...Multiple Flashbacks...I honestly think you can play the Stephen King Drinking Game with any of the Silent Hill games...No joke
BT Dubbs...DOUG HATES THE MIST!....No Joke, there is a review of it, and yes he does think it's one of the weaker Stephen King movies
Hell, Silent Hill 1 has a Bachman Road. Bachman as in King's Pen Name Richard Bachman.
@@northwindkey Noice Catch
@@northwindkey If they ever make a true mainline series sequel, I wanna see the Shiba Dog driving around in a Hot Red 1958 Plymouth Fury in the dog ending
You should react to Nostalgia Critic’s Top 11 Scariest Performances in Movies
I’d totally be down to watch commentary videos of you guys showing Kate those Stephen King films for the first time
I think Doug has done a review of the Mist, so if you want to see his full thoughts on it, you should do a reaction video on it. 😄
I think Doug said that he didn’t like The Mist. Something I entirely disagree with but I can see why he left it off the list
Nostalgia Critic recently reviewed the Mist, if you wanna check out his opinion on it and why it's not on this list
He already made a review of the Mist last year. Spoilers!: he thought it sucked
Because it did, lol
It's October, so you guys should react to Nostalgia Critic's Shining Miniseries review, it's pretty funny 😂
I was predicting that Creepshow was going to be the top one after he showed his honorable mentions (having never seen this Top 11 list before) and I was right!
When i first watched The Shining my stepdad was doing some work on his fish tank and then i got to that scene with the full frontal lady and in my head I was like "Please don't turn around, please don't turn around, please don't turn around." and thankfully he didn't until well after the scene was done.
🤣 Yeah, parents always walk in or look at the TV screen at the WORST possible times!
funny that doug haven't notice that there's a 2002 remake of carrie which i only seen it once and idk if it was good or not i only know the ending went
It’s better than the 2013 movie at least
I'll be honest... I didn't care for The Mist either 😅
The monsters made me chuckle more than scream and outside of that I found it kinda boring.
Am just for some reason not able to understand it properly on what the film was about can you help understand it
i love the 2017 IT movie but for some odd reason I couldn't find myself to see 1990 tim Curry Version it scared the crap out of me
Here is a Stephen king adaptation for you guys to watch for movie night this October, that is my number 2 favorite Stephen king film, NIGHT FLYER. I have read the short story it is from and it is true to its source but also takes it one step further in the film. Hell, it had a sequel planned that king we looking forward to, but it got canned.
I will say, there is an amazing story about "Carrie" that I can tell on behalf of Stephen King himself. So while "Carrie" was nowhere near the first film to use jumpscares, it was one of the first, if not the first to use the final jumpscare trick, and Stephen King himself not only jumped when he saw it for the first time, but at a screening in Boston where the entire audience was black aside from King and his wife, these two rather large guys screamed like little kids when that jumpscare happened.
Remember the Critic episode that parodied "Misery" where an obsessed fan kidnapped Jay?
"Buy my book!"
"Buy my book!"
"Buy my book!"
16:34 Am I the only one who gets annoyed when Americans can't pronounce Skarsgård? Like... the A with a ring above makes a... well, here in Australia, we'd spell the sound it makes as "aw", but to Americans it's more "oh", if that makes sense.
I gotta give this one to cujo.
You guys should 100% check out his review of the mist. It would be quite the watch
Howdy y'all, your local Caleb saying the time you're looking for is 8:45
Thanks Caleb
Thanks Caleb
Thanks Caleb
Thank you.
If you want to know why Nostalgia Critic didn't put The Mist on the list, I recommend you check out his review of that film next.
Bill Skarsgård is now going to play Count Orlok in a second remake
of *"Nosferatu",* the unauthorized
but classic 1922 silent film adaptation
of Bram Stoker's *"Dracula",* with Johnny Depp's daughter Lily-Rose as Ellen Hutter and is co-produced by father & daughter duo; Chris & Eleanor Columbus.
Love your nostalgia critic reactions
Honestly the transitions last like 3 seconds. They're barely a big a deal.
Also to note I don't think Doug has a high opinion of the Mist.
Thank you. I'm sorry but it's quite annoying how much they complain about it, it's called having patients and having anticipation for the the next one on the list. Plus when he skips it he ends up having to go back and correct it so by the time he does that they could have just watched it by then. It's honestly more of a waste of time.
He actually did a review of The Mist last Nostalgiaween and, spoilers, he is not a big fan of it to put it lightly.
I’m glad Nick brought that up because holy crap I am excited for Alan Wake 2. 😁
I'd recommend NC's review of The Truman Show. It's great in my opinion
Cats eye is an anthology movie about a cat being connected to the different stories being told throughout the movie but it ultimately ends with the cat coming to save a little girl from an evil troll.
I felt so sorry for the cat during James Woods's story, Quitters Inc. Also, loved how the cat saved Ted Stryker from The Baron Harkonenn.
@@sebastianemond5313 yeah
Pet Sematary and The Shining are the two films that always make me feel uncomfortable and uneasy, but IT though is why I'm afraid of clowns
This review for the record came out in October of 2018 by the way. It: Chapter Two wouldn't be out for about a year after that.
In a horror film that doesn't require an "R" rating, 1408 is a prime example of the pure talent. Great writing, directing, acting and very well executed psychological horror
Guys, whatever you do, don’t recommend Nate and Nick watch the NC Mist review. It will only serve to piss them off.
Stand By Me was the movie I studied for English class back in school.
Was it worth working or something
Man, why did you have to reveal that deleted scene with Jake the crow from Shawshank? My heart is breaking, noooo 😭
Frankly i didn’t get into any of the film adaptations of Stephen King’s stories and novels until about 10 years ago when i finally watched The Shining, The Mist, The Dead Zone, Stand By Me, The Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption, Carrie, Pet Semetary, and IT the 1990 mini series from Tommy Lee Wallace. From that point on i became a fan of Stephen King in general through the good and the bad within the last 30 plus years of Klassic King films. Sleepwalkers will always be a guilty pleasure of mine as well as Maximum Overdrive regardless of how cheesy or over the top they are.
Doug already made a negative review about Mist. There is no way he would include it in the good list
1408 came out when i was a kid and my dad made me watch it. It only messed me up because we lived in apartment 1408 at the time. (Technically 1308 cause our building at the time did the whole skip the 13th floor). freaked me out as a kid
Yeahhh watch his review of The Mist 😅
I really cannot say (in my opinion) that The Mist is a good movie. It has its moments, and the ideas and ending are pretty great. But the execution, the effects(!!) and the characters overall were botched, which ruined my experience. There's a lot to like, but these elements took me out of the movie. And with Doug's review of that movie he did last year, I'm very much in agreement with him.
I'd love to see you three react to his review of The Mist, actually! Beacuse I'm sure there would be a lot of interesting discussions around this, no joke!
26:55 So... not so fun fact: The 2013 version was supposed to be a closer readaptation of the book instead of a remake, but the studio got cold feet and butchered the film towards the end of production.
Also love Kathy Bates In Miser even with some of the changes they made. Basically movie Annie was bat **** crazy book Annie was beyond bat **** crazy. And apparently Bates wanted to go that far but couldn't.
0:00-8:45-10:11-
Be ready to NOT like the Nostalgia Critic's review of THE MIST...............he had ISSUES with it (which is likely why it's not on the list, even in Honorable Mentions)
He actually reviewed “The Mist” a while back. He was… Not kind to it.
13:13 - I still think of Nicholas Cage every time I hear this lmao
47:32 The best scene in Ready Player One is The Shining scene. I can't even explain why, it just needs to be seen to be believed.
I'm still waiting for someone to try an adaptation for The Long Walk. I just keep hearing rumors about it
I really want nostalgia critic to review this is the end where Hollywood actors face against the biblical judgment day.
Maybe Nick bought the wrong ticket to the wrong showing. I always specify the time nowadays so that I never make that mistake. I also double-check the theater number too.
Nostalgia Critic reviewed the mist and he didn't like it.
Only seen the Family Guy parodies of Misery, Stand By Me, and Shawshank Redemption
Nostalgia Critic had recently done a review of "The Mist". Might wanna check it out.
Doug hated The Mist. He made a whole review on it a few months ago. Really sad, cause I love The Mist.
What if the mist is about lovecraftian being manipulating the military into building a bridge into their realm, mean while it's making the military personal believe its a new type of weapon.
I totally get why Doug put Creep Show as #1 and it was such a nice change and so refreshing, I have never seen it but now I want to, it seems like the perfect movie to watch in October. Sorry but I can't stand The Mist! The effects are horrible, it's not scary, the cinematography isn't even that great and most of the characters are WAY to obnoxious to the point where I can't even watch the film anymore and you hardly even get to know them beforehand so you really don't even care about them. And I know you praise it all the time but I hate the ending, it was the final nail in the coffin for me. It just made them look so stupid, they weren't even outside for 5 minutes before coming to that decision.
I agree with Nick that IT Part 2 was not as good as Part 1, in my opinion it was all over the place
Are you trying to say that leaving The Mist off of this list is a..."MIST OPPORTUNITY"?
I'm afraid to suggest you to see the Mist review, now...
Doug made a review of The Mist
And he didn't like it
Yeah, it kind of sucks.
He has his own review of The Mist.
The Mist is not nearly as good as y’all say it is
I think NC reviewed the mist later on
Am I in the minority and one of the only people who liked IT chapter 2 it had issues but I wouldn’t call it a train wreck the thing that saved the entire movie for me was how they handled Eddie’s death genuinely one of the most impactful movie deaths
God, i love the Shawshank redemption.
I know I’m not the first to say this, but you should definitely check out his The Mist review.
I think you guys might like cat's eye it's pretty good
MY LITTLE PONY: FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC had 2 references to the shinning, a KID'S SHOW that was rated Y had 2 references a horror movie lol. One was the twins and the other was the little boy and 'blood' (or in this case smooze) gushing out of a door in that scene. It's not the only horror reference too lol. There was a 28 Days reference in another episode lol and that was 'horror-related' too lol.
I will say this as I've said about EVERY countdown ever- everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Doug's fav Disney movie is still Fantasia. I can't think of any other Disney fan who would put that at #1. If Doug likes Creepshow the most, then that's fine. I personally don't like Stephan King movies. Only movie I've seen was Carrie, and I didn't like it because it's triggering for me personally. Only Steven King adaptation I did enjoy was a mini-series and it's Rose Red.
Doug reviewed _The Mist_ , and boy does he not like it...
Doug doesn't like the mist
As much as people hate on it I like the league of extraordinary gentlemen movie because I read the comic and considering how some of the characters act and what they do (especially Mr Hyde) I prefer the movie far better also if you read the sequels to league of extraordinary gentleman it starts sounding like the writings of a mad man
Shawshank is easily the best
I hate to break it to you guys, but Doug doesn’t even like The Mist. He even did an NC on it…
How about a reaction to Exorcist 2 Nostalgia Critic?
I honestly don't think The Mist is a particularly great movie. It has an AMAZING ending that's just plain brutal, but outside of that, there's not much going for it IMO. I've seen it multiple times, but literally the only thing I can ever remember about it is the ending. My personal favorite Stephen King movie is Christine though. I couldn't even tell you why for certain. Maybe it's the soundtrack, or just a few of the scenes really sticking out in my memory. Overall, I think I just enjoy it more than any of his other adaptations.
Did not like Pet Semetary both book and movie (main character pissed me off in both version's).
That’s weird, because I loved the story/book and the MC pissed me off often. I’m thinking he was supposed to be infuriating. Lol.
The mist has a stephen king vibe throughout it. There really isnt anything lovecraftian in it...
Oh it definitely is! The dialog and especially with the overly obnoxious religious nut! I've only seen it once at the theater and she honestly made me want to walk out she was that insufferable.
Just gonna rip the band-aid off since I have no idea when you guys'll see the actual review: He didn't LIKE The Mist.
Hm, interesting List,
I hope you do any of AniMat’s Lists at some point.
He did a review of the Mist though, right?
Nick won’t like NC’s review of the Mist
Has Kate atleast watch any film of Steven king or no I cause I only was able to see 2017 it and (idk if it counts) I watch dead meat pet sematary kill count films
Not enough love for Storm of the Century and Rose Red.
Check out nostalgia critic's Mist review.
A MIST opportunity
NC reviewed The Mist, he doesn't like it
