The opening day of the UK's first Gridserve Electric Vehicle Charging Hub. The tour, some information on van and car leasing and a very important note for Tesla owners - you MAY NOT be able to rapid charge your Model S or X at this site!
An amazing facility, well done to all the team at Gridserve. The future is here and now.

The chargers you said were 7kW are apparently 22kW according to Gridserve and Zoe owners that attended.
Really enjoying your videos. Really well presented.
Ah yes, 3 phase of course = 22kw. My error. I’ll be at Gridserve again Wednesday with my new 2021 m3p doing a mega range test comparison v old m3p and other Teslas. I’ll try to remember adding a correction.
Thanks for kind comment. We’re gradually getting them better as we figure out methods and fix sound equipment glitches.
Next week with the new model 3 performance will be great. A few new videos for that. Live collection, range test, noise test with proper sound meter this time, performance tests.
Excellent info. No 24hr loos was a bit of a surprise to me. I guess hopefully they'll reconsider that if traffic picks up year on year. Assuming security is the issue so need the volume to make it cost effective for several staff to be on site.
yes its shame because you know what will happen... there willbe a well watered bush somewhere... they cannot open up because then everythign would be open, shops etc.... so impossible unless as you say literally a number of staff and i dont think that will happen.
24hr toilets is probably the only thing missing. Otherwise brilliant. Have been twice now to have a look. Sure I saw this guy there!
24/7 working time for the bilding🎉
nice one
Thanks for posting, it's certainly a great facility. Just for clarity, some of the specs for chargers you quoted were wrong. The fast chargers after the Tesla chargers are 22kW not 7kW. And the CHAdeMO chargers are upto 90kW not 50kW as you stared at the end of the video.
Indeed, 3 phase so 22kw
Have they announced where the next one will be yet?
3x8 or 2x12h up to the staff
Great info re charging for older Teslas. How much to adapt an older car?
When I went I parked my crappy old Honda Civic as far away from all the Taycans and teslas as I could. 😆
Ccs adaption for s and x is £280 now (reduced not so long ago)
Worth it now I’d suggest
When do you think the next one will appear?
Edit 14:58 13/12/20: Also, nice video production quality
Air and water
I hope they gave ajr and water pomp
What is the range of free WiFi?
Would be so great to have these in New Zealand, we have basically no support for EV cars at all.
WiFi need to cover parking spaces and around🎉
Can’t hear any of your interviewees due to your microphone being so far away from them!
Naughty Tesla not charging
ha yes i spotted that... (not mine i hasten to add!)
Its ok, he's got a private plate lol
I thought you were going to say Tesla owners need to bring a brolly. 🤣😂
and that... ha ha
@@RSEV I get annoyed that Supercharger's are always at the far end of a car park and don't have something covering them; Now we've got all the other chargers with a cover but Superchargers miles away and without one! Madness. 😂
To make matters worse, in the UK we get out on the right and have to walk around the whole car to plug it in! Graat fun in heavy rain!
I think they put them at the furthest point away in the car park is to reduce he chance of it being iced when super markets installed there chargers near the doors it was the easiest installation as shortest cable run but they were always iced worst one I have seen is 14 chargers at Westfield shopping centre Stratford London all iced
@@davidfennessey2727 My own guess is that it's just cheaper to rent those spots from someone than ones close to the building. :)
Did Tesla pay to rent the space and so decide whether it's covered or not?

They have public shower 🚿 2-3£
Typical weather in this country. Open a solar charging site, just as it gets foggy!
I know right! 🤦♂️ I’ll be back there Wednesday 16th so hopefully brighter then as we’ll have w convoy to charge up - new model 3 performance range comparison!
Monday was below freezing point as well. The trees nearby were covered in frost.
I think you are the only reviewer that I've seen who has mentioned the Tesla Superchargers are only CCS, therefore possibly Model 3 only!
@@peterrabbit6073 I don’t think the other reviewers were looking at the Tesla chargers.
I really hope this works out for Gridserve, but I have some real reservations about the business model.
Firstly, the footfall at these stations for the first couple of years is going to be so small, I can’t see Costa / WH Smith’s etc being able to actually turn a profit. If they then start pulling out of their contracts in a year or two, that would be catastrophic for gridserve because the whole idea of ‘grab a coffee while you charge’ doesn’t work if the cafe isn’t there.
Also, I don’t get why people would willingly pay more to charge their cars at a place like this than on an overnight, cheap energy tariff at home?
Yes, I know that some people (eg people living in flats or without parking) can’t charge at home, but the majority of people who can afford EVs at the moment are going to be in the income bracket that means they are more likely to live in a place with a garage or parking.
I dearly hope that I’m wrong as I don’t want to see them fail! I just can’t see how this will last...
