- This video demonstrates the cutting and polishing of a faceted gemstone, also known as lapidary. Im a hobby cutter living in the USA.
I also cast precious metals into jewelry and set the stones into them. I casted the ring in this video and set the gem myself.
Some of my finished gemstones and jewelry can be seen and purchased in my etsy.com store. www.etsy.com/shop/Gemsbymbk?r...

Well done Brent. I always like the color of Peridot. I think the green looks good with the gold ring.
Thanks very much cliff, its one of my favorite stones to cut.
First time seeing peridot being facetted. Nice!
Thanks jo, i really like cutting it. Big pieces are scarce and expensive.
Very nice job the stone and ring are beautiful thanks for sharing.
Thank you.

Thanks very much.
Very nice cut, Brent. It really looks great on your casting. Thanks for the video.
Thanks john, hope you are doing ok.
Very good master😊😊😊
fantastic I love the ultratec.
Thank you, yes they are very good machines.
Hi Brent, I havent really commented much but I follow all your videos. You Vintage Time, and Bopie are who I follow regularly. Loved the peridot video. I have a few and have yet to cut one. I heard it can be hard to polish but with this video I think my friends may be forgetting how soft this is compared to quartz or sapphire. Great video and I loved the casting you made. I like how you were showing what a calibrated cut means. Oh and it was cool to see in the intro section you with your award certificate.
Thanks tam, yes peridot at times is cantakerous, its good to have different polishing laps on hand to try what works best . Im actually working on an amber stone right now and trying to get a good polish is really alluding me , im running out of options. its a very soft stone 2.5 MOHs so its a real challenge . Thanks for the certificate mention, i came in 2nd in the US faceters guild single stone novice competition for 2019. Thanks for watching and your comments.
@@tennpikr74 Wow Brent. Amber? That is soft. Are you cabbing it ? I could only imagine that. So awesome on your placing in the USFG. I am going to be entering a novice competition this year. More to get professional input and feedback so I continue to grow. Out of curiosity what was your first faceting machine? Also may I send you a friend request? We are in some of the same faceting groups but I always ask first and I am never offended if the answer is no.
@@tamwolf20 im faceting the amber, my first machine was an utra tec. Sure you can friend me, im glad to help if i can.
Another great video. The stone is beautiful. I look forward to each of your videos, it's nice to see which laps you use for each stone, I always learn something from every video.
Thanks jess, im glad you get something good out of these.
Great!!!!
👍..
Love to see how you cast that ring. I'm looking to cast a new ring.
Good luck!
That's impressive. Beautifully done. ❤️
Thanks very much.

Hi Brent, great looking stone, nicely done. Would you please tell me where you got this chart with all the angles and R.I.? Thank you, and Happy Faceting.
I found it somewhere on the net, i can send you one . contact me by email at gemsbymbk@gmail.com
As always I really enjoy your videos and the explainations. Where did you get the chart showing the cutting angles? I normally just use previous designs which give all the information.
Thanks don, contact me by email and ill try to find it in my pcs docs and mail it to you.
I need a table like you refer to in the video regarding the critical angles for various materials. Where can I find that table or one like it?
Larry : email me here and ill get that to you.

Did you ever get to find out what kind of gemstone the red one was a few videos ago?
Most of us decided its a garnet.
How much is the polishing machine?
This machine costs around $4000 USD
