The Skid Factory: Now featuring All Crowns, All The Time (not complaining; I’d love to own a Crown but they’re not easy to find in Canada)
I dream of putting a barra in my ranger 1/4 ton I’ve seen one for sale on Kijiji in Manitoba sadly australi has some wicked cars/ engine options
Crowns are all imported from Japan second hand through auctions. So it's easy to find. It's just depends on your countries Import rules thats all.
That's a 10/10 decision on the 2tone paint, can't wait to see it in sunlight, let alone see the finished car with wheels and a usable ride height!
I LOVE this Woody, the two-tone style that tons of Japanese cars had in the late 80’s into the mid 90’s look so good. The champagne is so smooth especially with the pearl white + chrome. Awesome build, can’t wait to see it progress 🤙
That pearl is on point, you gotta chuck up some full sun light shots of it when its done.
Great to finally see that you're both finding times to work on your own cars for a change. I mean, who isn't a sucker for a Long Roof👍. Can't wait to see this on cruise routes for either RockyNats, Summernats or any other cruise for that matter
Your mate is professional 👍🏻, ppe for the win and vaccum's.
The amount of prep work that goes into painting a car is absolutely insane! But absolutely necessary in order to achieve such a high level finish!
Id would love to know how many hours it took them. i did a closed door on my mitsubishi sedan earlier in the year and that took me (solo) 80 hours
@@ashc5728 Yeah, took my brother and I about a week of prep 6-8 hours a day over Christmas one year to get my '82 Corolla ready for a full respray. About 8 hours in the booth to get the colour and clear on it (fortunately had a mate who worked for a panel beater who was willing to do the job for a couple of cases one evening ;) )
@@ashc5728 they did it over a weekend... at least 40hrs then 2 of them and Al who helped with prep, theres at least 90hrs of potential charge time
Great to watch a tradie painter in Action he knows what he’s doin
That's a nice workshop Mark
Nice shootin' Andy!!!
Cheers from the states
What a perfect car to fill with the boys for a road trip down the coast. That is just beautiful in the two tone

My Uncle had one of these from new in about 1977.
I remember that it was a very quiet and civilised ride back then.
when Woody says it's nice to see it in primer ... totally get it , often with a project the first time it's all one colour is primer
What a different feel this video had, felt like I was there for the journey rather than hanging out watching you guys having fun.
Car looks Mint 👍
There is nothing as exciting as seeing a freshly painted car bodyshell. Nice work guys!
I love that there are people who like doing this kind of work, and I will happily pay them to do it, because it's definitely NOT FOR ME, lol.
Looks amazing when done. Can't wait to see the finished project.
As an auto body guy (panel beater), I appreciate that you showed just how much work it is to simply put paint on a vehicle that has already had the body repaired. Most of my car buddy's think I'm being rediculous when I tell them that painting their hotrod is going to cost 10k without any body work. Most people don't understand how many long hours are involved in doing the job right.
GS130s aren't exactly a dime a dozen in Australia, I think that's only the second one I've ever seen, and that paint job (the two-tone special) looks the business. I know the video load and schedule is all over the place, I can relate, truly. as for suspension, for a longroof rarity like that, you can only go bags... because in my book, nothing else will suffice. looking forward to seeing this done (and Al's Crown as well). 👌👍
+1 on bags
It needs a GZE or GTE! .. Probably not many of those left floating around either
It's got a gze
I would’ve been so nervous walking around those painted panels let alone fitting them lol great job
I take my hat off to people who do this for living, absolute amazing work. Great vid Woody, love eating my pringles and sipping on a lemon squish watching your vidz
I have a 91 crown wagon and am so happy to see one being done like this. Thank you!
I painted my DT in the shed at home a few years ago, and can fully agree that it is one hell of a job! Chasing inperfetions, filler, sanding, masking, painting , it never ends! Worth it in the end but have to respect the people who do it every day, its quite the task!!
After i did my ground up restore, I did the same had a mate in the panelbeating busines that painted my car. It gave me so much respect for panel beaters and painters. It's such a big job and they just smash it out.
Amazing watching a true tradesman, makes it look easy
Great to see your personal project cars getting some screen time! 👍
I stripped, panel and painted my gs131 hardtop in my shed (BMW Sepang Bronze). what an absolute mission!
awesome episode mate, this is what i love about your old videos, you get to see everything. only thing missing was an 8 ball and an odd ball looking through a hole
Pretty awesome video Woody. I find paint job videos pretty satisfying and this was a good one. Old Crown wagons are pretty rad too.
Andy deserves a huge monetary gift for that amount of work in such a short time. 😁
So good to see someone using actual PPE in a panel & paint video. Too many people play it fast and loose with 2k paints.
Whaaaat?!?! 2 Crowns in one season?? This channel is the best!!
Must say. +1 on the two tone paint. It looks absolutely awesome. Definitely a good colour combo too.
That's absolute class, this thing is on the money, what an awesome build, can't wait to see the finish result of this unicron.
Champagne has got me drooling.
Big fan of Japanese wagons. So cool!
Wow it’s been ages since I’ve seen a 1G engine. Kudos to Woody for doing that classic 2 tone paintjob, not a lot of people go for 2 tone paintjobs on older cars anymore. Made me remember my father’s first gen Honda Civic that he had painted in royal blue and dark blue and looked awesome. Sadly like most 1st gen Civics, it rusted to death fairly quick.
Absolutely love these old Toyotas. Build quality and how solid they feel makes a lot of cars look crap even today. Had an 86 Cressida long ago.
The longroof is looking really lovely Woody, nice work. All those hours to get it straight and rust free would've been insane.
One day I'd love to do this for my Legnum. super low KM but she spent the first 20 years of her life under a car cover so the clear coat looks dull.
Great paint choice
Hell yea now that's a beauty
Thanks Woody enjoyed this 1, ATB Wayne UK............
the cappuccino colour and white work fantastic cant wait to see more on it
Great classy colour choice man. Mint 👌
Mate! I like that you gave credit to anyone doing a full paint on a car, I'm right in the middle of one at the moment. I've converted my single garage into a home spray booth and I'm painting in stages due to only having a small compressor and limited capacity to extract paint fumes and overspray. It's massive and until you do it, it's hard to understand just how big the job is.
👏👏 I had a two tone (white body, brown vinyl roof) GS131. Good memories
New drinking game, every time Woody says “Smicko” have a Lemon Squash… 🤣😵💫
Keep up the great work Woody. Love the video’s you put out!
The shot of the metallic brown in the mixing container looks like what you don't want the engine oil to look like when you drain it haha
Yes! I love it!
...and loving all Crown content.
-a Canadian JZS171 owner
They deserve good money, they smashed this out of the park. Love the colour choice
two tone for the win! youve gotta appreciate good help when you can get it. you scored big time Woody, great result
Man, this is making me miss working in a paintshop, it was a lot of fun working on cars like that.
Also, the car looks great! I love some of the odd models from the 70s and 80s, I've never seen an 80s Crown here in Norway, only the earlier ones, and usually a sedan, they were more common before I was born, but vanished, so you rarely ever see any of them anymore.
So it's fun seeing someone giving one so much love! Makes me wanna work on my own cars, which I hope I'll be able to soon when health stuff is sorted a bit ^^
Got a '76 Cadillac Coupe DeVille that needs a lot of rust repair thanks to being on the coast of Norway, salted roads in winter, and salty air year-round thanks to the sea, but if I can get it sorted it'll be one cheap Cadillac, though... with current petrol prices... feeding an 8.2 liter carbed V8... I hope I'll win the lottery somehow.
Great job and I love the colour, I had to paint my own car after being let down so many times and you don't realise how much work is involved, its all the little bits but it will look amazing when its finished
Yeeeeeee that dude is slick as with them refinish skills
Word of the day, Schmico 🔥🔥🔥
Two tone looks wicked Woody!
I love painting cars. It's the hours and days before and after that annoy the shit out of me lol
Might have to get in touch with Mark from Barrel Bros. and get some nice, classic JDM mesh wheels.
They are friends with Mark 😂 Skid factory fixed his Nissan President.
Woody was even wearing a Barrel Bros shirt in this video 🤣🤣
That is an amazing restoration! So much effort, with such a great result. Looking forward to following it!
Yup, it's a massive job doing paint and goes up a level when after blocking the entire body you then 400 and 800 block the high build like I did on my last project. The painting part takes a fraction of the overall time. Well worth it though as, just like Mortal Kombat, you end up with a flawless victory 👌
And top marks for using DeBeer paints. Bloody good stuff and not stupidly priced like Glasurit or other big name brands 🙂
I deadset just had an epiphene of how much work ive done to my falcon, "hats off to anyone whos stripped a car and put it back together"... That phrase right there just hit me like a truck.... Thats what made my brain click as to how much work ive put into my car, that phrase right there just helped with SO MUCH mental ache, heartache and horrible thoughts that I've had, I cant put into words what i feel about the build or channel, its not great but its OK and now i feel better about it.
Thanks Woody X Keep up the great work guys!
Such a beautiful wagon. Well done!
That’s a really good video and I enjoyed it heaps. It looks cool, I wish I wasn’t colourblind and could enjoy it more.
love a good painting video, brings back memories. Good to see a shop using breathable air masks in the booth too, there's not enough shops that use them
Looks mint Woody! Going to be awesome when she's done.
She’s come out a beauty m8!!
Top notch lookin’ paint booth, love the ppe!
Too top this ol’ girl off even more an engine bay refurbishment would tie in with you having had the insides of the door jams and under the bonnet resprayed etc, etc..
(Tidy up all unnecessary hoses and wires, fill in all the holes and respray it. And while the engines out you may as well clean and polish that up, you could even use that two tone on the valve cover)
Looks sick, looking forward to seeing it finished!
Can't wait to see more on this. Great colours on the paint job. BTW, love the double wipers on the rear.
Fairly certain Woody is so stoked. The car is looking shmikko
Mate, that is gorgeous!
Looks fantastic
What a great layout of a shop. like it!
Love all wagons!!!!! This is SIIIICK!
Nice one Woody. Looks great!
Wot you got there Woody..It's a Dream Wagon
Love the colour mate! I went through this doing a respray on my Cefiro and promised myself never to do it again. The amount of time stripping it down and putting back together again is just massive. Respect homie
A longboi Crown, ICAH is going to go nuts over this.
Tint dark match the black 😎🤩
that looks amazing mate great job everyone involved
Awesome man. Wheels and basic twincharge for all noises.
Amazing to see a clean and modern spray shop! Such a far cry from the dusty, fume belching unsafe ones of yesteryear. Crown looks mint!
Car is looking sweet Woody. I have enjoyed watching what you guys have done from the start. It is cool to see you both doing your own personal rides . Two tone looks very nice indeed 👌
Dude that looks awesome!
Came up mint 👌
Mad! I want more of this!
Love the stance👌🏻 And I think the rims accually looks pretty good
Woody as always awesome content!!!!!!!
That is soo sick!
Those rims you have on it now really really look good I have always loved that style wheel, even if they were a few shades lighter then the bottom of your car would look awesome
Looks sick
That was a pleasure to watch. Nice work
2 tone is killer
Sooooo goood can’t wait for more
So sick woody!
Beautiful paint work.. love it
Best episode I’ve seen on the skid factory 👍
I both hate and love this.
Hate that I dont have one, love that you do have one and are sharing it with us.
Great work as always.
Looking good
The Smile Factory! Great work Woody! 👏
That's a really cool looking wagon.
That is amazing!!!!
Looks awesome Woody.
Can't wait to see this get a 2JZ and a turbo the size of Texas! :P
